two worlds 1. i was so hype for a game that'd be the next oblivion which was a cornerstone of my formative years. i watched those trailers on loop every single day. when i bought it and it turned out to be a piece of shit running at sub 30 fps on my 360 i almost started crying lmao and didn't touch the game for 6 months
part of the reason I never got burned again is that I'm very picky with games, and many overly hyped games just don't really look appealing to me. for example, many people say that No Man's Sky, Cyberpunk, and F76 are good now but I still have zero interest in playing them for myself.
>Runs through a corridor for 20 hours without being able to customize a party, get sidequests or interact with NPCs
Uhhh, yeah, I guess you are right, I was filtered.
Fable 1. I spent hours and hours on forums before the game came out talking about how amazing it was going to be. I bought into the whole "you can plant a seed and watch a tree grow" shit. It was the first and last game I ever pre-ordered.
Ironically I got a copy of Anniversary a couple days ago. Haven't gotten too far but really loving it. There's something comfy about playing on the 360 again bros.
Oh to be clear, the game is actually great but it's nothing at all like the sprawling open world epic that was promised before release. After time I enjoyed the game for what it was instead of being disappointed about what it wasn't
Historically PC games were always a much bigger gamble. Black and White was a huge disappointment. For console Fable 2 was pretty bad. The insane part is shitty overhyped and broken games became the norm by mid 2010s. Toddware has infected the industry. This combined with the SJW agenda has pushed the video game industry over the edge into collapse.
This better not be a shitty stealth 2hu thread, but

I was never really hyped for anything, maybe I was interested in Star Citizen but I didn't go so far as to actually buy anything there or invest much beyond a bit of attention.
But Dragon's Dogma 2.
Dragon's Dogma 2 killed my soul in a way that I don't ever see it coming back from.

Being super excited for Twilight Princess. Expecting the Twilight Realm to be the 3D Zelda's equivalent of ALttP's Dark World. Or at least something as significant as OoT's past and future. Or at the absolute minimum like the ages/seasons of the Oracle games.
But no. Twilight Princess's titular Twilight Realm, is literally fricking empty. Not some "oh boy there is no meaningful content" or whatever the frick people levy towards open world games that are full of content everywhere. But the Twilight Realm is literally fricking empty outside the couple of singular points you need to visit to progress the story.
Beyond that the Twilight Realm is still as vast as the regular Hyrule. Only, it's literally empty. No items. No enemies. No NPCs. Nothing. It's empty.
It genuinely remains one of my absolute biggest videogame related disappointments of my life.
I always wanted to see the 3d games do ALttP's Dark World thing. And everything leading up to actually playing and experience TP's disappointment personally, suggested that TP would be the game to do it. But it wasn't Not even close. Not even remotely. Not to mention the warped and monstrous aesthetic of everything. Flora and fauna alike. It was all a very strong parallel to the Dark World.
And the early game of Twilight Princess especially, where you get to jump into the Twilight Realm, but before you actually get to explore it and realize that it is empty. Really sells the impression that it'd be like A Link to the Past.

Though I should have learned my lesson with Oblivion.
I can still look forward to some games, just not the big ones, and I'm able to dial my excitement down as needed. So shit like HW3 does not catch me off guard nowdays.
Fallout 3 was so disappointing that I didn't even bother looking at New Vegas when it came out. Then years later I saw the ultimate edition on sale for like 5 dollars and got surprised when it was everything I wanted out of a Fallout game.
>and got surprised when it was everything I wanted out of a Fallout game.
It was pretty hard to overlook the hype and reception for that game, especially if you grew up with Fallout like I did.
With that said, I unfortunately can't say New Vegas was everything I wanted from a Fallout game. It was a valiant effort but to me, Gamebryo is such a fundamentally garbage engine, and the result is so fundamentally unimmersive, that ultimately, I just can't really get into it. I tend to slide off New Vegas.

Let me elaborate;
Max Payne 3 has to be one of the most overrated games ever. Mostly because most people haven't played the Max Payne games before it, so they don't see how it ruins the plot and character of Max. They don't realize how restrictive the game has become, you can't explore shit, in past games you could go anywhere in the map and interact with the area you were to your heart's content, MP3 has the biggest budget, yet its world feels the most like a game as it's just shooting gallery followed by shitty overlong cutscenes that are horribly directed. The dialogue is pure Rockstar slob which clashes against past Max Payne games. Max isn't really Max but someone else entirely.
Everything about this game pisses me off in every way imaginable it's worse. Even shooting while having excellent presentation just controls awfully compared to the past games. It's not responsive anymore due to Cuckstar's shitty engine.
Frick wienercum for what they've done to this franchise with this game.
I got lazy, I thought I didn't have to elaborate much on Absolution as everyone hates that game who likes Hitman.
It's a crappy basic stealth game for most of its play time with flawed mechanics, non sensicial scoring system. Awful disguise system. Laughable plot, DmC embarrassing.
The maps which have actual targets are very limited in how you can approach, very linear, not much room open for creativity. Small maps.
In general I feel like no Hitman game reached the heights of Blood Money, the freedom and its mechanics have never been matched in my opinion.
Absolution is kinda fun if you play it as a pure Action game, but that's not really Hitman.
>Rockstar slob >Cuckstar >wienercum
never played those games but i like how your post continuously corrupts the develoublisher as it gets more unhinged
I actually like Dickstar until San Andreas. But they became too focused on stupid extra details, their games get less fun with each new installment.

By that I mean San Andreas is the last GTA I like.
i do think they apply too much focus on unfun detailslop sometimes, but i believe they will have reined in some of their team members whom had too much freedom after producing some terribly received dlc content (naturalist) in red dead online.
instead i hope they focus on making some really good core driving mechanics in gta6 after making great weapon and shooting mechanics in red dead 2.
frivolous detailslop that produces stuff like naturalist in red dead online is bad, but detailslop in core game mechanics like driving, shooting, and the world simulation is good
as for the story, i havent bothered with wienercumslop since gta4 (which i think is a great story). gta5 and red dead 2 i found myself disengaged and never got more than 5% through either story, but played multiplayer modes for hundreds (gtao) and thousands (rdo) of hours. i wouldnt even care if gta6 scrapped the single player story entirely and just let me sandbox.
No Man's Sky is the big one for me, have barely pre ordered games since then. I don't care if it's a good game now, that shit was do disappointing on release with how much they talked it up that I'll never trust a developer's words again. If you don't provide in depth gameplay trailers, then I'm not picking that game up.
Fallout 76 to a lesser extent as well. Though that more just eliminated my trust in companies trying to include multi-player features into existing single player franchises.
I mean what game didn't?
every series has been on a precipitous decline since the start of the Xbox 360 era.

>Rockstar slob
>Cuckstar
>wienercum
never played those games but i like how your post continuously corrupts the develoublisher as it gets more unhinged
I am glad it was appreciated, I intentionally paced the post like that.
thoughts on wienercum's openworld games ?
I actually like Dickstar until San Andreas. But they became too focused on stupid extra details, their games get less fun with each new installment.
By that I mean San Andreas is the last GTA I like.
i do think they apply too much focus on unfun detailslop sometimes, but i believe they will have reined in some of their team members whom had too much freedom after producing some terribly received dlc content (naturalist) in red dead online.
instead i hope they focus on making some really good core driving mechanics in gta6 after making great weapon and shooting mechanics in red dead 2.
frivolous detailslop that produces stuff like naturalist in red dead online is bad, but detailslop in core game mechanics like driving, shooting, and the world simulation is good
as for the story, i havent bothered with wienercumslop since gta4 (which i think is a great story). gta5 and red dead 2 i found myself disengaged and never got more than 5% through either story, but played multiplayer modes for hundreds (gtao) and thousands (rdo) of hours. i wouldnt even care if gta6 scrapped the single player story entirely and just let me sandbox.
bioshock infinite
im gonna die mad about it
No Man's Sky is the big one for me, have barely pre ordered games since then. I don't care if it's a good game now, that shit was do disappointing on release with how much they talked it up that I'll never trust a developer's words again. If you don't provide in depth gameplay trailers, then I'm not picking that game up.
Fallout 76 to a lesser extent as well. Though that more just eliminated my trust in companies trying to include multi-player features into existing single player franchises.
glory to the CCP
I mean what game didn't?
every series has been on a precipitous decline since the start of the Xbox 360 era.
even fromsoft has become a sellout company
