With the current leadership? Hopefully not. >almost no original employees of Radical Entertainment, especially after half of Radical was sacked after the release of Prototype 1 due to...reasons...
Microsoft is more likely to fill the studio with total randoms that barely play videogames and then they'll hype it like Deathloop and the gameplay will be worse and generic (and either Ganker will complain that it has pride flags or journalists will complain that it has no pride flags) and it might receive an award due to Microsoft developing it then the IP gets forgotten.
I think I'd take the monkeys paw curling a finger for another Prototype at this point though I suppose 2 was that and it was far less enjoyable movement and story wise so maybe it's best being 6 feet in the ground
Eh. How I understood it, and how the game laid it out, he's like a kind of divergent clone of mercer. After all, he still acts in ways to protect "his" "sister" and works against the corpos in continuity with real Mercers goals. It's only at the very end he acknowledges he's something else.
With that said, I despise what they did to his character in 2, considering the game ends with our Mercer having an optimistic and generally benevolent speech/tone. Him going from that to >lolololol murder kill death I will be the evil god of my new world blahahaha
with no realistic justification obliterated my good will for the story and the new protag, though the protag didn't need any help in that department.
bro what they did to mercer is character assassination to the extreme >literally a clone of a psychopath who wanted to be a part of the big boys club at any cost >realizes that he's better than his original and loves his sister >eats literally thousands of soldiers/civilians and taking all their memories and experiences with them >he gets shot by ONE criminal and immediately shits all over himself to end the world and bring about the next stage of humanity(lol)
they literally couldn't remember the story from the first game, they just gave up and made mercer the evil one for some reason despite there being a literal enemy out there in the form of another virus but whatever, just sweep that under the rug
The silver lining is that if they ever wanted to go back to old mercer, saying that Prototype 2 and the comic was one of many Mercers that reformed after the nuke exploded and you're playing as another one is really easy. Add in some fluff about trying to kill and consume the rest to get strong enough to kill Greene or whatever and boom, plot over, start making death animations.
I don't get why they didn't revolve the sequel around pic related instead of some random guy, it was set up and everything, first game is a virus born out of a corpse, second is the virus born from its mother, it's the next logical step and could've been kino.
Speaking of Ghost, with sonys recent porting to PC I thought we'd get that soonish and I'd also heard word it was coming but it's been like a year and nothing.
Also, I wish Infamous worked for me emulation wise. I always wanted to play those games but was a poor xbox kiddie at the time.
Man, what the frick, why can't we get anymore Ultimate Destruction-esque games anymore? It feels like that genre was smothered in the crib and it's bullshit because they're some of my alltime favorites
PS3 emulation is always a crapshoot, but you can get a used one for under $50 and hack them as long as it's the right model. I've always had issues with PS emulation in general, even PS2 which is supposed to be fairly straightforward. As for why no PC port of Ghost, I imagine it's because the devs are focused working on the sequel. The PS5 version was good at least.
I also mourn the death of the superhero sandbox game. Crackdown 3 was technically released in 2019 and is sort of the same deal, but is really cheesy and low-quality even by the standards of the genre. Spiderman PS4 had elements of it but was more bog-standard ubisoft tower garbage with too many side missions as someone other than Spiderman, which the sequel seems to have doubled down on. I think the issue is that in general after the PS3 era games have focused too hard on being "narratives" or "experiences" rather than just fun that doesn't bother worrying if all the parts fit together perfectly, and that falls into the sourspot where it's still too ambitious for an indie team to do properly but isn't the 40-60 hour crafting RPG action adventure game with square menu icons that AAA exclusively makes now.
>focused too hard on being "narratives" or "experiences"
I think you hit the nail on the head effectively there. Seems it's "easier" for the modern, assembly-line, "we want to be Hollywood!" dev to outsource heavily into cutscenes and trite story beats than it is to make actual engaging gameplay.
It's a shame but I guess at least indies will hopefully/have been picking up the slack in this department.
Speaking of indies, has there been/is there an indy version of infamous, ultimate destruction, etc?
There hasn't been an indie one that I've seen, because their size and scale is closer to AA in scope but that entire sector of the industry is dead. It's hard enough to find indie 3D platformers in general because they're so finicky to do well, let alone one that has an entire city's worth of models and interactions.
There's a skeleton of an abandoned moral choice system that was clearly part of the initial design document but not fully implemented. From quest design, story beats, conversation options, and the narrative dichotomy between being an upstanding samurai and the throat-slitting Ghost of Tsushima, there is the same tension as in Infamous between doing what's best for the community and doing what's expedient.
Combat and encounter design is also a lot like infamous with fights against small groups in midrange combat where melee and ranged options are equally viable, and ammo refills are tightly controlled by environmental design. Obviously there's major structural changes from the open world design and the de-emphasis of multi-level verticality for your parkour, but the same basic 'see dudes, throw grenade, plink the survivors in the head until one gets close enough to smack with your smacking stick' gameplay persists.
You would be playing an RTS instead or at least be functionally different from mercer. According to lore female runners are entirely different from their male counterparts. [Prototype] 2 probably wanted to explore this more given towards the end Dana may have been infected & considering the devs WANTED to do a post launch co-op update.
hot
sir
Imagine the Urethral Insertions
new prototype game when 🙁
Never anon, coop prototype with Mercer and Heller never ever.
Which kills me on the inside
>That feel when Microsoft included a brief second of Prototype in their "Welcome ABK" trailer
Maybe?
With the current leadership? Hopefully not.

Just make a fan game in a new engine because it is clear a new game isn't going to happen.
Why not? The virus is just controlling his corpse right? What's stopping it from jumping hosts?
It's not "controlling his corpse", it's subsumed his very being. He died when he got "infected", the virus literally became him.
Theres gotta be at least one half decent porn VN with a bodysnatching protagonist
I think I'd take the monkeys paw curling a finger for another Prototype at this point though I suppose 2 was that and it was far less enjoyable movement and story wise so maybe it's best being 6 feet in the ground
The moron who wrote P2 wanted the sequel there after to center around hellers daughter looking for her OC Donut dad.
Yeah there is no corpse is control if it was consumed. No more mercer than he is any person you eat and take the form of.

Developers should just ignore the second game.
Ghost of Tsushima feels like an Infamous game if you squint hard enough, so you never know.
Speaking of Ghost, with sonys recent porting to PC I thought we'd get that soonish and I'd also heard word it was coming but it's been like a year and nothing.

Damn. I can dream at least 🙁
Huh??? In what way is ghost anything like Infamous besides third person action free roamer??

what if jackie estacado but girl
Hot tentacle femdom action.
Nice idea but it's a western franchise so she'd be black and ugly.
