it's a shitty attempt from /qa/Black folk to associate trimmed beards and glasses with cancerjaks because they want to win at least once but as always, /qa/ lost.
I want to cum in Matt Walsh's beard and watch it run through the fibers as it mixes with his spray-on beard color until it drips out onto the floor as a brownish mess and then make him lick it up on camera. VIDEO GAMES
Thanks for the question. In order to understand the genre, let's look at the words that make up its name. We can divide them in two parts:
1) Real-time. This is a reference to how the player interact with the game in regards to time. Are both choosing their action at the same time? Are the game agents acting freely in regards to time? This is important because the way strategy is tackle differs much depending on time keeping. Real time is in contrast with other systems like "turn based" or hybrid systems, like "we-go" (frozen synapse).
2) Strategy. The first thing to understand is that the term strategy is used differently in board games and video games. Chess is a strategy board game. But a chess video game is a tactics game, not a strategy one. In video games, tactics makes reference to the meticulous, conscious choice of deployment and action of different units in a battle scenario. Myth is an example of this. Some single player maps/levels in RTS games like Starcraft are actually like these too. But for a game to be strategical, it must also include the procurement of resources and their management, in order build up, change and evolve your tactical unit composition. Strategy games are, thus, a combination of tactical and economical management, both somewhat crude but hopefully fused in a fun way.
So if you have a game in which you play in real time, can make decisions in regards to the acquisition of resource procurement and use that to create, train, develop fighting units, you are probably looking at a RTS game.
What variations exist there? What are the limits? It's difficult to say, the genre reached its peak fast and was abandoned. Some games feature vision of the enemy (present in board games like chess), while other don't. Some have very different factions, others don't. Some have many resources, others don't. Some have lots of automation, some are very micro intensive. Some have randomly generated maps, others don't. Etc.

Still boggles the mind that a supreme court justice was so absolutely terrified about answering this question.
