I don't think people pretends to be fan of DMC, Ikaruga, Panzer Dragoon or Alien Soldier because those are enjoyable and easy to pick up and play. Planescape Torment on the other hand, it seems like a really elitist game aimed at an handful of people, i bet many tried to play it and dropped it very fast because it looks like a snoozefest.
I started slamming through dialogue out of boredom, which probably counts as not beating it, but I did beat it.

I’ve literally only ever heard this game be talked about twice outside of me playing it, once by an anon years ago who recommended it (which is why I played it) and a couple weeks ago from a youtuber who’s on Ganker and made a top 10 Genesis games list. Pariah something or another, not here to advertise him but this is genuinely a neat gem of a game that only like 100 people in the world ever played.

But between NG1-3, DMC 1-5, Bayo 1-3 and Godhand, that's about 20+ playthroughs for clears on different difficulties, secret missions (which each of those games have), and the Bloody Palace equivalence = not enough for me to give a frick for 'based' cred from a literal-who homosexual.
I'll play all those games yearly at best, I don't fixate on a specific series in a specific genre like most mentally ill hispanics do in action-game threads.

Honestly if not for the cool Falco like main character, I'd choose Gunstar Heroes. But that game seems better with a friend. Also I'm surprised OP didn't go for a Contra or Cuphead, those are fellated as masterpieces which I agree with.
Contra hardcorps is greater than all of those combined.
Contra is a famous game that a lot of NES/SNES kids played but it can still fall in posercore for the same reason as DOOMs since people think liking Contra makes you look cool because is so badass

A lot of these games were popular. 101, Godhand, and Alien Soldier stick out as games no one really played. I never touched 101 because it was on WiiU.
You can complete Alien Solider in less than in hour once you understand how all the Boss movement patters work. highly recommend it, Honestly my favorite megadrive shoot em up game.
i get to the sand mirage place in Godhand and usually get kinda bored of it.
