I used to love it when I was a kid, tried it recently and it sucks. Pathfinding is completely borked. Units are not good. Campaign sucks.

Is it really? Came in to this thread to ask just that. Have they added unification for Gondor/Arnor? IIRC that was something that was planned for v5. Now to just muster the mental and spiritual strength needed to install

They did, and it's actually really well designed. Everything else aside from that and the redesigned ui is either a sidegrade or a downgrade so it's practically the only reason to play v5 over 4.6 in my experience so far.

DaC is complete shit, don't listen to all the homosexuals who try to promote it. Blatant faction favoritism, horrifically tedious ai design endless fanfiction and far more make it basically unplayable. It's been a long time but I remember back in the day MOS was the best way to play it. Give it a shot. Also look into Reforged if you want multiplayer.
Heirs of Elendil was really fun tbh, 2.0 is in the works for infinity now.
