I've been on a boomer shooter kick lately and finally got around to trying Dusk. It kinda sucked tbqh. Did I get memed? Why does everyone hype up this mediocre game?
5 hours or so, then I got bored and stopped. Very samey enemies, weapons are boring, nothing really unique about it. Moved on to Blood and I'm having a much better time

Dave Oshry is a very good marketer.
But yeah its very average. Average art, average music, average weapons, average everything. Level layouts are alright, but that's kinda it.

tbh I don't like retro boomshoots that use the horror angle as an excuse to make shit ugly environments. haha don't you love your powerfantasy boomshoot to be interrupted with jumpscare enemies and loud noises/screams?
Cultic has the same problem but it particularly ruined Dusk for me since Dusk shows a ton of potential before the obligatory screamer enemies/levels and a ton more potential after, but that middle segment makes me turn off the game.

Thats literally just normal gameplay and how pinkies act, have you never played classic doom before? Admittedly that was with the extra """hard"""" difficulty with """fast"""" monsters turned on, maybe you've only seen the not-fps dungeon crawler on bab modes.
Reminder webm related is literally the normal gameplay in doom 2 plus with the extra cheat difficulty "fast" monsters turned on KEK.

Just for reference, without "fast" monsters its even more pathetic. Projectiles so slow and attacks so infrequent if they reduced the speed anymore they would go backwards, and if they reduced the attack rate anymore these "enemies" would just be overglorified target dummies in a game with a built in aim bot ("auto aim" they call it) and no headshots or weakpoints.

I couldnt get into dusk because the level design felt really bad. Also the gun selection is pretty boring
