Voltorb/Electrode because unlike garbage, ice cream or staple removers, Pokéballs aren't objects in the real world. Also, they serve an interesting purpose in the games as a mimic.
Probably Chandelure. Despite very much being just an object no one seems to dislike it for that fact. I'd even go so far as saying that it was one of the most popular Gen 5 Pokémon. Gen 5 was endlessly mocked for the trash bag, the ice cream and the gears, but Chandelure was just too cool to mock.
Porygon. It's so good that people debate whether it's truly an "objectmon" or not.
Magnezone gets an honorable mention. I think I'm just really biased for UFO mons, though.
They're both generally bad for the same reason: they don't deviate from their original inspiration.
This is noticeable with Dragalage to me. I liked it a lot more before I learned that it was just a cartoon redrawing of a leafy seadragon. Even designs like Raticate have different, arguably monstrous proportions in comparison to a standard rat.
I still like it enough. But what I really like the natural design of Leafy Snapdragons.
A big part of how I value a Pokemon design is how transformative it is. It's interesting to see how they can turn certain ideas into battling creatures.
So yes, it's probably autism.
Dragalge is not based solely on leafy seadragons, it's also based on rotting kelp. The crest on its head in particular is clearly based on kelp, and don't look much like the "leaves" on a seadragon's head.
Voltorb because it’s from KANTOOOOOOOOO

>muh mimic excuse
They're too big to work as a mimics to actual pokeballs. What idiots' falling for them?
All items are represented by pokeballs on the ground in the games
A pokeball mimic that's canonically able to shrink in size could fool anyone
Nugen explanation + where did it's button go?
the button is it’s butthole
>nugen
You can literally see them shrink in the old games.
>Doesn't learn Minimize
Pokeballs would have come later and some sick bastard designed them to look like Voltorbs.
drifloon

I think Ghost types just generally get a pass for being objectmons because “ghost possessing a thing” is such an expected design.
Legit been wondering this for years and Chandelure is my favorite pokemon.
The rotom-forms especially aside from ice rotom and also Vanilluxe

Hot take: objectmons are less offensive and less creatively stagnant than dog/cat mons
Agreed, object mons have always existed. It’s just something people who dislike new pokemon cling to as something objective to point to
Agreed recolored animals are a mistake
Greavard is impossible not to love

Why does that make you stop liking it? Holy autism.

How the frick is that abomination on the left even able to move?
These two side by side makes them look like they're not even from the same series. That's how much the design language is fricked for the new gens.
