Great game, the linear aspect honestly doesn't bother me for the type of game they were going for here
Not as good as Super but well worthy of being a sequel
I wanted the fusion suit in Prime so badly but I didnt have a link cable rip
Supposedly this game is an extensive, EXTENSIVE romhack of Wario Land 4, which makes me wonder if it's possible to hack Wario back into the game or vice versa, putting Samus in WL4. Has anyone ever tried it?
Best 2d metroid, only held back by lack of cutscene skipping, feels so good to play, even just shooting with the base charge shot and power beam feels good. better music and atmosphere than Dread too.
Dread's my favorite, Super's my second favorite but not for the reason you think, I never speedrun this shit, Fusion was a gated mess with a shit story that started the whole Samus vs Fed thing and Samus must have humanity so she must keep talking about Adam all day.
>who's first Metroid game >who's >IESLB
See? Fusionchads won again.
I like it. Great sprite art. Kind of shocking how good it is at its horror segments.
Very linear and all the exploration is basically tacked on at the end in a weird way.
Overall good, but very much “Metroid distilled down into a GBA game”
It's super nice as a first playthrough, I will never get the hate it received
It's only problem is poor replayability Also the fusion suit is fricking hot I want to stick my penis in that blue goo thing
Poor replayability is the killer of this genre though. It's known for its speedrunning. Hell, the only planned sequence break in the game actually has an easter egg conversation piece with Adam about it because it's such a common thing in the games. Holding your hand down a hallway for 4 or 5 hours isn't what the series is known for.
You're hand-holded throughout the entire game besides two instances where you get to ignore the computer and make your own way. These are the two best parts of the game which begs the question why the computer's even there
Adam telling you where to go and what to do isn't actually as huge of offence against non-linearity because you still have to explore and wander within dedicated zone quite a lot. Also the map they show to you in the beginning is usually a small fraction of full map.
HOWEVER, the way how game locks up tunnels between zones with screw attack blocks is fricking moronic. Doubly moronic because screw attack blocks are only used for this andn nothing else.
Simplest romhack removing them INSTANTLY improves the game a lot and prevents Adam locking you up at the end game where you're forced to finish the game.
Felt like Dread finally reached a happy medium with less harsh guidance between levels.
Super wasn't even my favorite game but THIS was how a long awaited sequel should be. Back when the internetz didn't pre-emptively ruin things, going into a game and getting trolled by things you took for granted in Super like Energy refills running away from you, bosses attacking you outside designated boss rooms and of course the twist that the one with all your super upgrades is now hunting you.I'll never be surprised by a game ever again, both because of the internet and because Smash ironically made Metroid too popular and now you can't really surprise anyone anymore because everything is now unironically a "trope".
Maybe I'm wrong though. Maybe one day some zoomie will feel about Fiusion to Dread what I felt from Super to Fusion.
Fusiongays who's first Metroid game was Fusion are trying to act like Fusion was some second coming again. Worst 2d Metroid game in 2002, still the worst today, nothing has changed.
>act like Fusion was some second coming again
Uhhhh....
No?
I dunno, but according to this thread, most fusiongays find the game excellent and enjoy its strong points, but they also agree that it suffers from its linearity and unskippable exposition.
SMgays, however, DO see their game as the second coming and adamantly REFUSE to even acknowledge that anything Metroid-related released after "their" game is anything but worthless
Not a Supergay, I'm a Metroid fan, after playing the first three games, I didn't like Fusion, when I played Zero Mission, I didn't like Fusion even more, and Samus Returns also made me dislike Fusion even more than I already did, Other M made me hate the game since Other M builds off of Fusion, and Dread is just proof that Fusion was shit given how Dread goes back to being more of a Metroid game and playing like one, unlike Fusion. Fusion was such a departure that I knew the series would only get worse for a while before Samus Returns and Dread saved it.
I thought it was not good and that it was horribly overhyped because people overblew the 3 SA-X scenes in it. The. Zero Mission came out and proved the mechanics where great, it was just the execution that was botched
Zero Mission has no real purpose, there's nothing it does that I don't already get in another Metroid game better
Fusion on the other hand at least has its own identity and reason to exist, which is being a more focused horror take on the series
This is singlehandedly the most moronic posts in this thread. Games don’t have to always strive to be art with every single game being some wholly unique experience, moron. Fusion isn’t even a good “horror” game since SA-X only shows up for a handful of brief sequences, you braindead parrot. God forbid someone actually enjoys a game based on its gameplay and content
>enjoy your universally appraised game with unanimously agreed better movement and post game bonus content with a stealth segment that last 15 minutes in total
Thanks! I will!
It's a fine game but on a fundamental level it's not a Doom game.
And on a personal leve I fricking hate how the screen freaks the frick out whenever you get hit
It was my first metroid game I completed. I had played super metroid some years after it came out and I was too young to appreciate it. So there is a huge bias towards fusion. I think zero mission is better than fusion.
Amazing game.
Only minor flaw is not letting you fully explore the game map until after you beat the game.
One of my favourite games though.
Completed it for first time last week.
Loved it when I first played it many many years ago. Really cool atmosphere and one of the best looking gba games. Surprisingly good audio design aswell
The only metroid I didn't bother finishing. Something about the aesthetics put me off hard. Could also be burnout after playing Super Metroid, AM2R and Zero Mission back-to-back.
It's fun, but the ADAM scenes are a pain on repeat playthroughs
Great game, the linear aspect honestly doesn't bother me for the type of game they were going for here
Not as good as Super but well worthy of being a sequel
I wanted the fusion suit in Prime so badly but I didnt have a link cable rip
It sucked
Pure kino. Great atmosphere, music, graphics and easily the best boss fights in the series.
I always thought SA-X’s nose was a little angry mouth and it totally killed the spook factor.
Holy shit, I see an angry screaming Kirby now, lol.
enjoy:
lma its like a DBZ villain

>Best 2d metroid
Bait
Super Metroid is literally THE GDQ troon game. You're not a troony, right?
Dread's my favorite, Super's my second favorite but not for the reason you think, I never speedrun this shit, Fusion was a gated mess with a shit story that started the whole Samus vs Fed thing and Samus must have humanity so she must keep talking about Adam all day.
Whose, feeling better now, homosexual?
Second best. Super is still better.
Psychological horror kino
I like it. Great sprite art. Kind of shocking how good it is at its horror segments.

It's decent but I've only ever played it once and have no desire to play it again whereas I've replayed SM countless times.
It was my first metroid game and I enjoyed it A LOT.
It was good. I liked it and Zero Mission. I thought Zero Mission was better overall, though.
Managed to do horror on a fricking GBA
Absolute kino
Lame soundtrack. No exploration. Annoying briefings. Fantastic game.
How the flying frick is the game missing the theme of Samus? Even Dread got that right?
Adam telling you where to go and what to do isn't actually as huge of offence against non-linearity because you still have to explore and wander within dedicated zone quite a lot. Also the map they show to you in the beginning is usually a small fraction of full map.

A lesser version of Other M, the superior linear Metroid
Being a lesser version of Other M doesn't make it good, less shit is still shit.
Super wasn't even my favorite game but THIS was how a long awaited sequel should be. See? Fusionchads won again.
It's a Masterpiece
Good boss fights but the exploration and platforming was a big step back from Super.
>Samus watch out
>Ravenbeak has a massive penis and you stand no chance of defeating him
I thought it was not good and that it was horribly overhyped because people overblew the 3 SA-X scenes in it. The. Zero Mission came out and proved the mechanics where great, it was just the execution that was botched
Fantastic game. My fav Metroid.

enjoy your faster Super with a stealth section I guess
>enjoy your universally appraised game with unanimously agreed better movement and post game bonus content with a stealth segment that last 15 minutes in total
Thanks! I will!
Good fapping material
Love it, but I can see why others don't since it's basically the Doom 3 of this franchise.
Why do people shit on Doom 3 I thought it was fine game. I also like Fusion.
Generally when people mention Doom 3 they mean it's a solid game that however betrayed its roots
It's a fine game but on a fundamental level it's not a Doom game.
And on a personal leve I fricking hate how the screen freaks the frick out whenever you get hit
tough bosses, spoopy atmosphere
I like
It was my first metroid game I completed. I had played super metroid some years after it came out and I was too young to appreciate it. So there is a huge bias towards fusion. I think zero mission is better than fusion.
It's okay. Not my favorite, but it's a good game.
Super Metroid is overrated as shit, though.
Amazing game.
Only minor flaw is not letting you fully explore the game map until after you beat the game.
One of my favourite games though.
Completed it for first time last week.
puts best boot forward with graphics and setting
and then every bossfight is pure bullshit
Loved it when I first played it many many years ago. Really cool atmosphere and one of the best looking gba games. Surprisingly good audio design aswell
