What killed the Soul Calibur franchise?

What killed the Soul Calibur franchise? How did we go from SC2 being able to rival fricking SSBM, to SC6 being completely irrelevant?

Lack of content. Soul Caliber thrived on having tons of modes and characters, with lots of interactions between the characters. Much of that got stripped down in VI. Compare II to VI and you can see how stripped it feels in comparison.

Fighting games were already fairly niche but it's even harder for them to find footing now because of e-sports meta homosexualry, skinner box mentality, and lack of content

SC2 content was barebones compared to Soul Blade or SC3.
Why tendies keep bringing up SC2 as the gold standard of the series? Oh wait, thats because thats the only one you played

*Oh wait, thats because it's the only one you played solely because it had Link in it.

Thats self explanatory anon. Tendies would never touch a fighting game without one of their pets on it

Okay then, VI was barebones compared to Soul Blade and III. It doesn't change the fact that it lacked content compared to older entries.

A fighting game doesnt need a rpg mode. It needs characters, varied stages and outfits.
SC6 indeed lacks many of those things due to small budget but not the ones you are thinking about

            >you're right but not how I want you to be
okay so it lacked content. Most notably, content it had in previous entries.

Fighting games went from something you played for fun to something you invest 2000 hours into.

Most people will play one fighting game and only one.

    Sc6 broke the sales record.

Tekken 7 and SC6 are bareboned games compared to their predecessors but 7 got lucky because SFV shit the bed early on. SC6 had too much competition by the time it came out and it doesn't help that fighting games are dead again thanks to MOBAs stealing the audience and zoomers not wanting to learn them until maybe SF6 revives the genre

Series is unironically too complex for what it is, despite every eceleb wanking it as "entry/beginner friendly"
Yeah it's beginner friendly if you're playing with your roommate drunk, but going online and trying to rank up in any capacity, much less attending a tournament, requires incredible knowledge of its movement and character gimmicks
Even some of the single player content, specifically in Libra of Souls, is absurdly difficult for a casual player or newcomer, what with the weird conditions they start throwing into battles
The lack of a truly good tutorial hurts VI as well, as even though the glossary contains some good text guides for the game and each character, the barebones gameplay integration in LoS isn't worth a player's time

They were given a show string budget by Bamco + SC5 almost killing the franchise.

    SC6 sold well at least.

I was interested in SC 6 before I saw the cutscene supers. So I didn't buy it.

Revamping your core gameplay every other game tends to do that.

    >What killed the Soul Calibur franchise?
Every single game after 2 being blatantly rushed and unpolished.
SC3 having pre-alpha-tier graphic and sound bugs
SC4 being just plain bad all around
SC5 lacking most iconic characters and general content
SC6 lacking sceneries and a proper museum mode

      >SC4 being just plain bad all around
sounds like your parrot canadian virgin losers. SC4 was the peak of the franchise. SC2 was just barely less gay than 3

i'd buy a new one if the clothes destruction actually went as far as leaving them nude and the women weren't nerfed like post soul calibur 4. never really cared about it as a fighting game tbh
