it's kino because of what said, knowledge is the only progression. piecing together how shit works is extremely satisfying and when it all comes together and you realize you technically could've beaten the game 10 minutes after starting it you feel like you've actually mastered the solar system
and obviously the story is great too, one of my favorite parts is how it plays with the knowledge-as-progression thing by tricking you into thinking the sun station is causing the nova only for you to get there and realize it's not even turned on
>absolute radio silence from the devs of this game since the DLC came out
they probably all retired early from all the money they made. Can't blame them
they're a small team and they've always worked in relative silence, i played the alpha when it came out in 2013 and was really excited for the full release but after a couple years i figured it was vaporware. never been happier to have been wrong
no voice acting, nailed the existential feeling of space without being a tryhard screenshot simulator like most space games are, concise story that unfolds naturally as you progress, good music
>exploring >spaaaaaace >pretty focused design, not a lot of fluff >did a good job at zero g and low gravity stuff, being flung off into space is a real hazard. >I hated being under water (which means their sound design did a good job selling it) >bunch of neat stuff you can stumble into on accident like the white hole station >uses the time loop gimmick well but not so much you get too sick of it
I didn't like the ending, but just because it wasn't really my vibe instead of having an issue with the quality.
nothing, it was a frustrating slog where one mistake meant you'd have to redo the exact same 30 minute series of steps verbatim and hope you didn't frick up again. repeat 9000 times
You can normally just bugger off to look for stuff somewhere else though. Or jump into the sun if you want a restart. The time windows on most things are also pretty generous.
>if you make a hit game you HAVE to keep making games and keep everyone up to date with your next game
frick off with this mentality, this is why we have garbage games and endless sequels
why mention that the devs have gone "radio silent" after finishing a game? the only clear purpose of doing so is that you want them to keep you up to date with another video game/update as soon as possible. do you have another reason someone would mention the dev team's radio silence other than that?
If you've seen the horror bits you are halfway through the dlc already, you should be able to make your own mind about it.
Though I got to say that the ending is incredible, it ties up everything presented in it incredibly and adds a very cool scene that ties up to the full game.
the main 2 horror parts aren't as bad as they seem once you figure out the gimmicks for them
the one where the deer c**ts are playing music is intentionally impossible when you first encounter it. You'll figure it out naturally a few cycles after finding it. Listen to the background audio when you're in the VR world
the other one has a secret path hidden in plain sight that is purposely very easy to miss
>I have 1 friend who's beaten it and 14 who own it
sorry to hear your friends are moronic, anon >unplayably obtuse
sorry to hear you're moronic too >buggy as frick
name 1 bug
its "obtuse" because there is no literal handholding and the game expects you to actually read and think. it is the ultimate ESL, 3rd world, and normie filter.
Mainly for its atmospheric/immersive quality. You really feel like an explorer in the coldness of space, and the planets are all quite mysterious and interesting.
its a project of passion, made by people that are competent and could make their own solutions to the problems they had to face to create the universe that they envisioned
only if you've achieved an ending, not from a fresh file
They could let us know if they even intend to make more games. Nowhere did that anon imply they were wrong to stop making games.
maybe they could and maybe i'm just in a negative mood today and wanted to take post in a bad way because i don't want them to just "create more" just because others want it
>only if you've achieved an ending, not from a fresh file
No? You can walk into the museum and get started with it right away. You only get bonus stuff at the Prisoner vision if you've completed the game
>i could've sworn a message only pops up at the main menu about the new exhibit after getting one of the endings
Doesn't that only show up after you boot up the game after installing the dlc?

it is implied that you have the dlc installed in this scenario, yes
DLC is pretty fun, neat locale to explore, and you get to learn how another advanced species decided to deal with The Eye i do hate the spooky parts though
the dlc has enough content that it's basically it's own game. Replaying the main game isn't even really necessary bc you can access it right from the start
it even has it's own ending which I prefer over the LE GRAND HEADY THEMES bombastic ending of the main game
*I should add tho, if you just rush the DLC without playing certain parts of the main story, the ending cutscene is slightly different
it changes based on how much you've discovered in the solar system
The scale (combined with ship speed) was perfect. Big enough to feel like you're actually going a long way, but small enough to not be tedious to return somewhere you died previously.
t. 100.00% white
This. You have to be white or spiritually white to "get it".
troony game
I appreciate the fact that the game doesn't have any "unlocks," you just figure out where you need to go and what to do by reading.
Most overrated game of the century, often praised for irrelevant shit like

Anon you have to post a gameplay screenshot to have an outer wilds thread, the shitposters haven't actually played the game and won't recognize it
the dlc is exhibit A for why modern AAA games are fricking awful
told a far better story with no talking and no text at all except for the ship log
>exploring
>spaaaaaace
>pretty focused design, not a lot of fluff
>did a good job at zero g and low gravity stuff, being flung off into space is a real hazard.

Brace yourself for a thread with over the top use of the spoiler function.

why are you complaining about something that doesn't happen
>absolute radio silence from the devs of this game since the DLC came out

OW was a game the devs have been making since college, who knows if they can do something even remotely close again
>if you make a hit game you HAVE to keep making games and keep everyone up to date with your next game
frick off with this mentality, this is why we have garbage games and endless sequels
Who are you quoting?

Is the DLC worth playing? I tried it but I pussied out the second I got to the horror segment
If you've seen the horror bits you are halfway through the dlc already, you should be able to make your own mind about it.

This is the least completed game on steam. I have 1 friend who's beaten it and 14 who own it. It's unplayably obtuse and broken and buggy as frick.
there aren't achievements for doing anything related to completing it
what are you even basing that on
>I have 1 friend who's beaten it and 14 who own it
sorry to hear your friends are moronic, anon
>unplayably obtuse
sorry to hear you're moronic too
>buggy as frick
name 1 bug
ow is the least buggy game I've played in years but okay
>obtuse
You literally just walk around and read stuff. If you're paying attention then the game will spell most stuff out in plain text.
>main game
>tells you exactly what to do
>dlc
>tells you exactly what to do, but with pictures
how is it obtuse
its "obtuse" because there is no literal handholding and the game expects you to actually read and think. it is the ultimate ESL, 3rd world, and normie filter.
there is no quest marker so zoomer morons don't know what to do
space is cool

is it worth to replay for the dlc?
Yes, but you can do the DLC pretty might right away from starting the game.
only if you've achieved an ending, not from a fresh file
maybe they could and maybe i'm just in a negative mood today and wanted to take post in a bad way because i don't want them to just "create more" just because others want it

unless they changed it, i could've sworn a message only pops up at the main menu about the new exhibit after getting one of the endings
Yeah it does, but it doesn't stop you from accessing it
well i just feel silly then
>i could've sworn a message only pops up at the main menu about the new exhibit after getting one of the endings

testament to how simple this game is under the hood that that can happen kek
Huh, so the direction is random. I've seen it bounce off of Timber Hearth before but never that.
it just picks a number and sends it every cycle
The scale (combined with ship speed) was perfect. Big enough to feel like you're actually going a long way, but small enough to not be tedious to return somewhere you died previously.
