but I just don't like multiplayer games, I don't care about losing, I'll always play on the hardest difficulty and get my ass kicked until I get good which is not so different from spending enough time to become competent at a multiplayer game
This post describes me 100%. I'm a perfect person, except I'm a gigantic b***h that's afraid of losing and have some insane cope about why I don't/can't play Multiplayer games. And the cope is this: I'm bad at them and therefore don't enjoy playing them.

Singleplayer games are often harder than multiplayer unless you're playing comp at a high rank. All of my hardest experiences in video games have come from high difficulty singleplayer games. Before you start screeching about cope I'd say I play about a 50/50 split of sp/mp.
EA is trying to start a movement where people get shamed for not playing multiplayer, because they make more money from that than singleplayer games.

Nah. Every time friends rope me into one for a couple of hours/few days, it only serves to highlight how I don't like pointless survival and crafting loops or e-sports.

I stopped playing MP games like 10 years ago, probably even before that. Except for co-op games with my friends, that is.

Multiplayer has never been my thing but recently I've gotten into Phantom Dust. Not enough people to do more than 1v1 but its been a lot of fun. It's free to play on Xbox Store. It is an original Xbox game but has aged incredibly well and you don't need Xbox Live to play online (cross-platform on Xbone and PC)
Playing multiplayer games just depresses me now. The last one I really played a lot of was Apex, and by the time I quit I had like 500 hours played and fricking hated the game. Seeing that all that time of my life (especially now that I'm an old bastard) dumped into a game I don't even like nor have fond memories of anymore kinda fricked me up and I haven't played any MP game since, unless I get invited by a friend.
Multiplayer games are a time sink, i like to play my vidya, save the game, go do other stuff, and come back later when i have time.
Corpos what the game to BE your life, where you communicate, where your "friends" are, where you spend your disposable income, where you attain your values and are educated, frick EA and frick multiplayer only games.
I hate them. Maybe it's better for people who have actual friends.
