Yes and no. This game lost money by itself but because it was made to launder money and get ESG points it’s not a bad market decision.

I don't think that they ever made a mode which was "cover the most area with your team's color" which was the most fun and innovative thing from splatoon in my opinion. They just had boring team deathmatch or protect this payload. Trying to find a match takes way too long and the ending screen after every match is ridiculously long. Shitty in-universe yapping in the tutorial and the "story" was horrific too.

Even ranked modes are variants of that core mode. Like the payload is deliberately really small so camping is suicidal and area control is still the main deal.

There's no way they're successfully selling any $45 costumes.
