Not gonna lie, I was hyped as shit for this game, since the beginning. Then it came out and it pretty much is walking delivery simulator. I liked a lot of the concepts they thought up, but the game felt very empty overall. Even after practically building everything up.
Hopefully they can do better next time, the story was what I expected from a Kojima game and was at least different from many other things.
Not to mention, on PS4, I'm like 95% sure structures don't actually show up exactly where they are placed. It's like even the primary mechanic of connection is fake, in a way.
Because me and my friend have zips and bridges in our own world with different names on, as if the placement is predetermined by the game pulls a name from a hat to put on it.
If multiple people have placed a structure in almost the same place the game just chooses one of them to import to your game so they don't overlap.

No, we will se bridges or zips in PRECISELY the same place with a different name on it.

There are optimal locations to put structures so many people will have placed them in each of them.
Faking it would require even more work than doing it legitimately. It's easy to check whether it's real with strand contracts anyway.

Holy shit. Let's say there's a zip beside a rock and one by a tree and the games placing the zip between them then choosing a name? That's some gymnast shit mate. We'll see a zip in the middle of nowhere, in the same place, with a different name on. If anything it would be easy to just have a predetermined location while you're designing the map?
Does somebody not just have a friend added on the DC who can confirm if a structure's where their friend put it? I assume they've improved this function since PS4 but I've messaged people on PS4 and they've said that isn't where they put a ladder or structure whatever.

this is Ganker, we don't have friends here.

>If anything it would be easy to just have a predetermined location while you're designing the map?
Someone would have to place all structures at every possible location and orientation over the entire map. That's an insane amount of work to do for no reason since just having the actual locations shared between games would be far less time consuming.
I've watched a friend stream the game and then used the structures I saw them build in my own game. It doesn't import everything from your friends though and whether a specific thing will show up seems to be random.
I love DS but this comment was moronic. Yanks still play shit like Euro/America truck sim. It's just that some American teens are very vocal when they mutt out (after they see a youtuber tell them DS is bad)
His plotline was awful but I digged him as a character, I wish they did more with the Egyptian themeing. Also liked the first part of his on-foot boss fight where you're tossing boxes at him
Higgs pretty much confirms that Baker could have played Ocelot as the wacky woohoo cowboy he previously was, but Kojimbo just wanted a more boring version of him.
>but Kojimbo just wanted a more boring version of him
His habit of getting great voice talent and just not fricking using it is extremely vexing. Does he put them on some fricking whackadoodle contract that strictly requires them to phone it in for 95% of the game and actually act for just a few minutes so he can save money? I'm glad that Baker was able to somehow slip the leash in this one, at least.
Most of the time nothing happens. There are amazing parts where you're just walking and low roar is playing and there are genuinely great moments like when you have to sneak in that old stadium and then escape but those moments are too few and far in between. Literally 60% of the "gameplay" could be cut and the game would be a 10/10 but Kojima keeping you hostage and making you bored out of your mind makes it a 7/10
>VIDEO GAMES ARE TOO STAGNANT. SONY 3RD PERSON UNCHARTED WANNABES, GATCHASHIT, BING BING WAHOO AND FOTM SHOOTERS >based kojumbo releases a game about traversal load bearing with some self reflection kino with the music and cutscenes >NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WHERE THE BING BING WAHOOOO
Building the highway through the whole wild word has been one of the most compelling things I’ve ever done in a virtual world for the effort it took. I’m never seen that being discussed enough.
It's a great objective that directly rewards said effort the more you play the game. I don't get the people that don't like it, it's like they forget the "trail" part in trailblazing.
>completed a few stretches of highway >didn't play for a couple of days >log in >likes roll in
And then I finally realised what Kojima meant by calling it a "strand" game.

frick most people online.
Shit just randomly appears for other players, you were just really unlucky and probably your ziplines appeared in the worlds of those people who don't use them. I'd perfectly planned the zipline net from Mountain Knot all the way to every single prepper on the mountain and barely had any likes on them, and then I just placed a zipline in a not very convenient place near Elder's mountain because there was already another player's zipline near him, and I got gorillion likes from it.
he's basically a muslim, but instead of believing in allah, he believs in some prophecy of inevitable destruction of life and wants to make it come as fast as possible
Higgs looks like he was made to make the story look more mysterious and like it had more to it in trailers. The Higgs' boson thing is a bad joke, and his character overall feels like concept art without any real legwork done to legitimise the aesthetic. To me, bros, to me.
>homosexual demons
A great performance and character design wasted in a dogshit "game"
Cope redditard, Death Stranding was unfiltered kino like all kojimbo games.
Filtered

Why would you even think that? Many structures like ziplines are dependent on precise placement.
Because me and my friend have zips and bridges in our own world with different names on, as if the placement is predetermined by the game pulls a name from a hat to put on it.

Yea are you on the directors cut tho?

The slight chance that Kojima decides to actually add gameplay to Death Stranding 2 might just make it the GOTD.
If anything, there was TOO MUCH gameplay in DS.
how fricking casual has Ganker gotten that someone would ever say something like this

My man
damn the director's edition adds more highways to build? prolly should play it again
Yeah, there's a road straight to mountain knot now
It's a great objective that directly rewards said effort the more you play the game. I don't get the people that don't like it, it's like they forget the "trail" part in trailblazing.

Because nobody played past the first region.
True but adulthood is getting good with trucks and realising how inefficient of a route the roads are.
Only in the mountains, really. Earlier ones are pretty straightforward.
There's a way quicker route from distro south of lake knot to south know than what the roads take you but requires finesse.

>mfw I demolish some loser's safe room because it's in the path of a road
Can't stand in the way of progress.
1. It notifies players if they are building on a roads path.
2. Deleting structures only removes them in your world.
he's basically a muslim, but instead of believing in allah, he believs in some prophecy of inevitable destruction of life and wants to make it come as fast as possible
On paper, that seems like it would have been interesting, but it totally wasn't, it was super boring and one dimensional.
Mommy issues, unrionically.
The worst thing about DS is chiral netword limit
I JUST WANT TO BUILD ZIPLINES EVERYWHERE REEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Higgs was just a gamer.
And actually the road from lake knot to distro south of there is inefficient as frick too...
I just made it to chapter 10. The random boxing mini-game thing was odd.
It's basically the same thing Kojimbo did at the end of MGS 4.
It's a reference to the ending of MGS4
