I only ever beat the first and didn't like it much, but it's still sad to see turn into another pretentious snoy movie game. I'd rather a series I like die than see it become that
The second one is a lot better than the first one. People are pretty split on the third one. I dont hate the new take on GoW, but it's like Zelda: I know that the kind I prefer will never come back
I didn't like 1 that much when I first played, it and I found 2 to be a major improvement.
These games always had QTE's and cinematic set pieces. The original trilogy still keeps it high octane action packed to be enjoyable. Especially the 3rd IMO. Each death of an enemy god is satisfying as hell, even if its locked behind a QTE. The games after the trilogy are only enjoyable if your that invested with Kratos as a character after the trilogy.
Half the gods in that game don't even have actual boss fights.

>been an OG fan of GOW since literally day 1 release >unironically think the "reboot" (2018 and ragnarok) are miles better but it's literally impossible to discuss them here due to one system console peasants >its a hard life being a glorious idort
Anyway
ragnarok > 2 > 2018 > 3 > 1 > ascension = chains of olympus
I wasn't too keen on 2018 but every problem I had with it was fixed in ragnarok and now ragnarok is probably the best in the series. I kept seeing people here saying it was full of marvel quips but it literally wasn't. Only improvements I can think are >make it more bloody and gory, it's literally the staple of the series >remove the constant hints or make them a specific optional button
>4 above 3
Even if you think, once it got going, 4 was indeed better than 3, the entire first half of 4 is as bad as Ganker thinks the whole game is and disqualifies it.
>And I could see--this franchise is very successful for Sony and I think it's awesome. I was big part of making that a success for them and I think it's great that they should continue doing it, but I don't want to make God of War IV and God of War V and God of War: The Expansion Pack and God of War: The Role-Playing Kart Racing Game. I definitely could see that there is a potential for that. >Cory Barlog after quitting Santa Monica post God of War 2
I guess he changed his mind
At the time it was violence, the sheer scale of stage backgrounds, some giant bosses and bare breasts. God of War at the time influenced several action games to have giant bosses and the shitty part: QTEs.
Action games had tiny set pieces and enemies in closed rooms. God of War used several tricks to make stages look massive and show horizons, without actually have the ability to step on those far away places.
>without actually have the ability to step on those far away places
I've never gotten the appeal of this outside of pure novelty. All you'll ever get is padded out empty space with enemies thoughtlessly sprinkled around.
original movie game made for children
0 depth, just unskippable cutscenes followed by braindead closed arenas and puzzles where moving blocks took more time than finding the solution
>enjoyed similar action games >start GoW 1 >no motivation to keep playing after the first few hours
It's a shame, the premise seems cool but the gameplay just isn't engaging
The breasts. And also how badass kratos is.
this
It's simply a fun power fantasy. The setting is also god-tier. Nu-kratos sucks dick so hard in every aspect.
sex and violence
big buff dude killing greek creatures and gods and it had very good graphics for the time, coupled with a great sense of scale and a nice plot
GoW never had good writing.
He never said it did ESL kun
NTA, the original anon said nice plot. Which I'd agree for the first two games at least.
cinematic edgy hack and slash stuff

to be fair it was always cinematic as frick it just didn't drop the pretense yet
i'd say try 2 but if you didn't like 1 it won't probably sway you

Great art, serviceable gameplay (much better if you play on harder difficulties tho), and an almost decent story that the third game fricked up.
one of the developers said they wanted the game to feel like "the adventure the back of the box is always promising"
I think they succeeded
Easy DMC with pretty cool setting, sex and violence.
Bed minigame.

I'm the same. I thought 2018 was kinda luke warm but ragnarok was fricking great (minus the brainless tutorials for EVERY DAMN PUZZLE)
Plus atreus scenes (frick that ironwood part)
>He hasn't played Ghost of Sparta
You're missing out chap
Frick I forgot that one I'd put it ahead of ascension

It’s amazing seeing other supposedly sapient beings having such horrid opinions.

re4 was probably the inspiration for putting QTEs in every damn game although they did come out the same year (2 months a part if I recal)
