At the time of the release it was a buggy mess, barely ran with no freezes on top computers at a time, with the boar being the apex predator of the whole game simply because it would spam its attacks without your character being able to get out of repeating stan animation until death.
The scope of the game felt big but also kind of shallow, some areas were fine but others felt really rushed with barely any content in them, just a big area filled with monsters and npcs you can't properly interact with.
It had a great music though but the story was meh, it felt like it was there just for the sake of checklist completion.
So in general it had its pros but overall the potential was wasted.
I wish I could tell you. My parents knew I was a fan of the series so they bought me 3 for christmas. I was so fricking hyped, installed it right after christmas dinner and the starting city has a huge brawl with like 20 fricking orcs. It immediately fried my GPU and I had to save up for the next 6 months to buy a new PC to play it, just to find out it was fricking shit.
What is it with these classic games having two perfect games but then a shitty third game ruining its reputation? It happened with the Thief games as well but from what the anons here said Deadly Shadows probably isn't as bad as Gothic 3 but was still wasted potential especially since it was made with the xbox in mind since it wasn't PC exclusive anymore.

They're okay if you need that scratch for your 6/10 itch.
Still would easily replay them over Elex 2.
That shit was a trainwreck of almost "unpatched Gothic 3"-proportions and will definitely NEVER see a community patch.
Your guess is as good as mine.
Rumors have it that Embracer demanded one game out at that time and it was either this or the Saints Row reboot and they went with Elex 2, despite PB telling their fanbase that this would be the first time that they'd release a game without any publisher interference or anything else - now it got released one week after Elden Ring instead.
Shit just got cobbled together near the end, things weren't finished and even the highly anticipated DX12 patch that was going to fix everything (well, that's what the fans thought, at least) was a total shitshow that only broke the game even more and doubled the game's download size from 40 to 80gigs.
But even IF they got a few months more it probably still would've sucked ass in terms of artstyle, combat balance, quest design and world building since you don't revamp your core systems, most character models, cutscenes, etc. in that little time with a team of 30something people.
The game was set to fail from the get-go.

Why did they have to frick up on 3, Ganker?
Small studio
Large scope
They overreached
While they did undeniabely frick up in comparison to 2, I still enjoy Gothic 3.
The devs never have enough time to complete their games and they are always on the verge of bankruptcy when they release a gothic game.
How bad did they frick up 3? I've only played the first 2 game so far.

install the mod for Thief 3 that merges the segmented maps into one and fixes the bugs. Its Thief 3 reborn or something

It's "Nameless". When you spawn an NPC, switch control over to the NPC an look at your original character you can read his name.
Cheats to do so: Open stat menu with "C"
type "MARVIN"
walk to NPC, press "O" (not zero) and look at your character. his name is overhead
stat menu is B not C key
The First Sigma Male
Guildless
His name is Not Important.

Wasnt ELEX 1 well liked? what happened to 2?
