It was great at first, but when I tried going back to it I found that people weren't going around doing quests and interacting with each other anymore, they were all just getting boosted through dungeons over and over.
I think that any MMO that wants to avoid this should make it so that you get severely limited XP if you have someone in your group who is a much higher level.
And that's not even including the paid shit that the company themselves added.

This is true about all MMO's, hell, all multiplayer games. I hate that. It's always meta, meta, meta, nowadays. Yeah, of course it's effective, but where's the fun?
It was an eventual evolution for multiplayer games, emergent/dynamic gameplay isn't existant in modern games in the slightest, and roleplay games are just level up simulators instead of roleplaying

Gen 5 had full sprite movement for everyone, I would argue it's the opposite and it was actually the last gen where they put any effort, they futureproofed the 3d models they made for gen 6 but barely went beyond having them T-posing, not to mention the garbage animations for every single flying Pokemon since they had to account for the gimmicky flying battles and making more than one idle animation was too much work

Sprite animations literally takes more effort than posing 3d models, and they couldn't even be bothered to make it properly, they also got 0 updates since 2013 despite they not having to make any new models aside the new Pokemon, with the latest games not even having a full national dex
