FPBP. Not only was gen 5 an abomination, gen 4 was the peak of the franchise AND it was a natural ending point. It ended the pokedex with literal god ffs.
If true, why the frick do they keep making 3rd revision games like emerald, platinum, crystal. They all sell the worst because everyone already bought the first iteration of the gen.
Thinking they could develop a game on the mainline console, when they've only worked with the handheld up until this gen.
They should have had Nintendo directly make the game, like with the previous consoles or outsource it to a 3rd party studio. That is, until they hired their own devs that would know that shit.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genius_Sonority >Genius Sonority (ジニアス・ソノリティ株式会社, Jiniasu Sonoriti Kabushiki Kaisha) is a Japanese video game development studio, whose staff consists of programmers who have previously worked on the Dragon Quest series of video games. >Dragon Quest
Pic related is right again.
Dragon Quest is one of the most influential games in history. Like half of all Japanese games ever made derive some inspiration from, or reference DQ in some way. It was funny ass hit seeing Hero hit Smash and all of the people online being baffled as to who Hero was or why he should be added to the game while begging for motherfricking Banjo & Kazooie.

What was their biggest mistake?
Marchandising and selling to people the idea of pokemon as companions

and bought up the staff. The current GS is a shell of it's former self.
People who ask why they didn't have GS make them are morons who are ignorant of the fact that they've already gotten the trash they asked for because those people are at Game Freak and have been for over a decade now.
Not letting another developer code the engine. Even back in gen 2 they were so incompetent that the guy who had to reverse engineer the gen 1 battle code to make stadium was able to free up about 40% of the ROM limit by optimizing.
not lobbying harder for a more powerful console than the switch. Scarlet/Violet (and Legends: Arceus) are really promising titles held back by poor performance and visuals
releasing gen 5

>releasing gen 5 without forcing Masuda to step down for Morimoto like Tajirir did before him
FTFY.
Gen 6 Omega moron
Existing
Daily reminder Pokemon objectively peaked at Gen 1.
Red was $30, Scarlet and Sword were $60.
$30 in 1996 is effectively the same as $60 in 2024
$30 in 1996 is $85 in 2024.

They haven't done that since the DS.
because it's cheap and then they can have a "new" game every year. also it's been pretty much replaced by DLC now
>replaced
You mean marked up. Now they just sell B2/W2 and US/UM for base game+DLC price in the DLC included special editions.
they haven’t made a third version since 2008 with platinum
B2/W2 and Ultra Sun/Moon are essentially 3rd versions
>this is real
god damn, ruby/sapphire is way too low on this list
Wild that Crystal sold so few units. I still have my original glittery-blue square cartridge.
Not adding guns

>XD Gale of Darkness wasn't made by gamefreaks
Embarrassing
Apparently it was developed by Genius Sonority.

Probably the "Pokemon is a franchise for kids" mindset
And they are just untalented as frick.
Not letting me beat them with a bat
Failing to do anything right for over a decade
trying to code for anything other than a handheld console. seriously, just hire new staff.
Their whole company structure is based on nepotism, no way in hell they'd do that.
They already did. They went to

Two generations per platform after the shift to 3D.
just one of many companies that were too incompetent to successfully transition to 3d
anything after heart gold and soul silver
Based
Arceus is good tho
no, it's brain numbing garbage
Gen 5
Making the gameplay hold an everstone
still exist
hopefully their partnership with take-two kill them for good
The Gen 3 Dexit
moving away from 2D sprites

Switch can run Witcher 3 no problem, it is not the consoles fault
