What went so terribly wrong? Its predecessor was widely acclaimed and it was more or less seen as this would be a certain success...
how many times are you going to make this thread?
What are you talking about? Rebirth is much better than Remake. The reason Rebirth flopped is because of the moronic PS5 exclusivity, and the fact Remake put a lot of people off the trilogy.
also this
have a nice day OP you sperg
to add to this
rebirth won most anticipated game last year and will most likely win goty this year as it has been far more positively received than remake and most games this year thus far
who cares about that goty award when shit like inquisition, overwatch, tlou 2, and it takes 2 win? Isn't rebirth a remake by some technicality as well? I'm not a ff gay so I don't know much.
Remake did well because PS4 had a WAY larger install base, most consoomers weren't informed of the "enhancements" when compared to the original, apparently a lot of people had piles of covid stimulus money to piss away on whatever sounded even remotely interesting, and fans who knew what it was about but gave it an honest chance anyways
REBIRTH on the other hand, had even more bloat (mini games, added/ different/ fluffed up scenes, dragged out paced walk-alongs, QTEs, etc), twists in the pursuit of being le fresh and interesting or subverting expectations to the same end, being an exclusive on a DOA console, not noticeably more enhanced than the PS4 game, yet could still barely run on PS5 (although admittedly that's likely more a Sony optimization problem), people were NOT interested in more of the same after remake (once upon a time, FF games WERE system sellers), if "fans" of remake wanted rebirth, they would've bought a PS5 to play it in larger numbers
It failed for every fair reason
As many times as it takes until all the anons change their ways and go buy a PS5 and rebirth, and praise how good it is at being a conditioned generic "AAA" "masterpiece"
>What went so terribly wrong?
the whole time janny multiverse dogshit and too much obnoxious fanservice
>too much obnoxious fanservice
Yes, there's too much fanservice. Everyone's fellating Cloud 24/7 and they turned Yuffie into a moeblob moron. They also went overboard with the Sephiroth-Cloud interactions and made them stupid.
funny how everyone here cared when sekiro and elden ring won
meant for
>Yuffie into a moeblob
always was
I think the big problem with Yuffie is this game shoves her down your throat all the fricking time. And in OG you can completely ignore recruiting her, or bench her on the Highwind for everything but the Wutai sidequest.
>Everyone's fellating Cloud 24/7
How so?
>and they turned Yuffie into a moeblob moron
She always acted like a moron in the original imo, but she does act extra stupid in Remake/Rebirth.
>They also went overboard with the Sephiroth-Cloud interactions and made them stupid.
Have to agree.
>How so?
Feels like every npc and party member is complimenting him or saying how strong and cool he is every other line. Maybe it was just me but I hated that shit.
Games need more fanservice not less
Waiting for GOTY win and PC release
Remake was only "acclaimed" by homosexual game reviewers because it was full of wogs and homosexualry, and obsessive FF7 fanboy subhumans who liked all the other terrible FF7-related garbage Squenix have shat out over the past 20 years.
Everybody else thought it was shit and had no interest in playing more. Rebirth was always destined to be a giant flop.
Nothing, it was good
Didn't come here for a while but Rebirth is a way better game then Remake , I will even wager that because Remake is the entry cost to play Rebirth ... it impacted the sale, but the reviews really good, it will be better when all of it will be available on every platform.
this shit is really fun my only complaint is you have to play like 30 hours before the whole world is accessible via fast travel
Because this fight was annoying
It's a piece of piss if you put the other two to sleep with magnify
True, but that is a crutch
I can respect it
Nah, they gave you tons of strategic options in Rebirth, all valid
It really is a huge improvement on Remake's already great battle system in every way.
nah it's a crutch, same as summons in ER
Completely different. Summons in ER are presented to you. You're aware of them from the outset.
Solutions to puzzle fights in Rebirth are not presented to you, you discover them by experimenting. You are rewarded for your creative thinking.
it's not a puzzle. It's a skill challenge
>it's a skill fight
>it's annoying
I put it to you that you didn't know the sleep solution and are indulging pedantry so you don't look dumb
Nah I did know it
>enter solo
>poison mindflayer
>run around the map until it dies
Nothing went wrong. It's one of the best games ever made and a massive improvement over part 1.
Being an exclusive and part 2 of a game people already know the story for in an era where people primarily play games for story obviously hurt sales, but it's a masterpiece and I honestly don't see how part 3 can top it.
For me, I felt that the open world checklist was absolutely soulless. I had an absolute blast in the Grasslands then it dawned on me that the exact same formula was going to be applied to the next 4 areas. Exploring Cosmo Canyon sucked.
On a more nostalgic note I felt that every single story beat I was looking forward to seeing was completely botched, with the most notable (for me at least) being the complete removal of the horror section on the Junon boat.
People only bought part 1 because they were scammed by dishonest marketing.
>but are what about this Japanese magazine interview no one read where they gave a hint that-
Shut the frick up. eat shit and die.
>only halfway through this game
>ER dlc comes out tonight
I don't want to stop playing FF7:R
based vidya enjoyer. You can maybe ease your way back in to ff7 by ending and returning with those minigames.
Isnt Rebirth the highest scoring Final Fantasy ever?
I will wait for it to go on sale. Personally, I don't like these "remakes" because they change things up too much. But knowing how gamers are, they would have complained as well if it was a true 1:1 remake with turn based combat like it should have been.
>What went so terribly wrong?
They didn't just upgrade the original game in a single package like everyone actually wanted and waited for for 14 fricking years. They also decided they wanted to profit from the game 3 times over. SE having to announce massive losses was such poetic justice for their greed. Anyone who gave SE money for either FF7r game is absolutely subhuman cattle and should be treated as such.
>absolutely subhuman cattle and should be treated as such
okay come and treat me as such little b***h boy
One of the worst open worlds in a long time.
Feels so small when the original FF7 felt so big. Also it's filled to the brim with horrible side content.
>One of the worst open worlds in a long time.
You absolute fricking idiot
>falling for such weak bait
You absolute fricking idiot
Go ahead and name an open world worse than this.
Every Assassin's Creed game ever
I've played 2, BF and Origin, and those all had better open worlds than Rebirth.
That's not great either but it's vastly better than Rebirths.
Ironically, elden ring.
Rebirth is dramatically better than Remake
thats not an accomplishment
