I would say whereas 1-4 very much feel like a DS game, oceans very much feels like a ps3 anime game. Not in a bad way if that makes any sense. I played it over a summer long ago and have nice memories with it since most of the game takes place on a beach and ocean. I remember there being a lot of grinding though.

Hell, threads were still good after RF5 release just because almost no people here had the game yet and the ones who imported it released very few info about it. The last nail in the coffin was the removal of the original extra character DLCs and the release of the homosex DLC.

Other than the optimisation issues, the game is just really boring and unbalanced. I'm not sure what the story progress was meant to look like, but I burned through the entire first chapter and made it almost to level 100 in the first two weeks with a bunch of the buildings upgraded twice. It was just too easy and too tedious to be any fun. Idk if it picks up or not after the first chapter, I got to unlocking the ice dragon and then dropped it soon after.
I guess after so many years, I figured they'd have refined the gameplay into something solid, and also have dating elements beyond "just talk to everyone every day bro and give them shit to make them love you". Getting to 4 or so hearts on a few girls didn't even feel hard, it just felt like a time-sink. The hardest part was keeping your RP up, because once you get weapons to a high enough level, you just automatically use RP skills by mashing the attack button.

I would say whereas 1-4 very much feel like a DS game, oceans very much feels like a ps3 anime game. Not in a bad way if that makes any sense. I played it over a summer long ago and have nice memories with it since most of the game takes place on a beach and ocean. I remember there being a lot of grinding though.
3&4 were much better games, XSneed meddling, poor graphical performance.
The characters are just bland as frick. Going from 3 to this is fricking jarring on how generic the characters feel even by animu dating sim standards.

Honestly at this point rf fans are better off getting an anime, monster girl, e-girl and dialogue expansion mods for stardew. Hell, threads were still good after RF5 release just because almost no people here had the game yet and the ones who imported it released very few info about it. The last nail in the coffin was the removal of the original extra character DLCs and the release of the homosex DLC.

Other than the optimisation issues, the game is just really boring and unbalanced. I'm not sure what the story progress was meant to look like, but I burned through the entire first chapter and made it almost to level 100 in the first two weeks with a bunch of the buildings upgraded twice. It was just too easy and too tedious to be any fun. Idk if it picks up or not after the first chapter, I got to unlocking the ice dragon and then dropped it soon after.
I guess after so many years, I figured they'd have refined the gameplay into something solid, and also have dating elements beyond "just talk to everyone every day bro and give them shit to make them love you". Getting to 4 or so hearts on a few girls didn't even feel hard, it just felt like a time-sink. The hardest part was keeping your RP up, because once you get weapons to a high enough level, you just automatically use RP skills by mashing the attack button.
