Because gcj is dominated by contrarians. It was funny from mid 2015-late 2016 prior to the election. Then when the orange moron got elected, it degenerated over time into hyperwoke smugness though there is funny content from time to time.

the game took a dump some time after wolves were added

Nothing. Microsoft is a greedy company and are gays for pushing people into Bedrock Edition but they aren't doing anything Mojang/Notch didn't do. I find it funny people b***h about slow updates... Where the frick were you guys before? Or was it OK when Notch was taking a year to add beds to the game?

updates for the sake of updates. nothing in the past like 7 years has been good besides the cave update.

Everything's too shallow and is kept too shallow. I wouldn't mind the slow updates if they were all working toward some depth similar to the tech trees in various modpacks, but the shit they do trickle in is all standalone and doesn't interact with what is there: the bandit raids are just random nuisances you can't curb in any way, the sniffer just looks for decorative plants, and the glow squid is a squid that glows, etc.

Remember when you had to build a lip at the top of your walls to keep spiders from crawling up and over it? While it wasn't particularly significant it was a design consideration for your forts nonetheless, and even that little bit of puzzle-solving was taken when they lobotomized the spiders. They should've kept that and added more sophisticated mob behaviors to be circumvented by your designs. After 13 years you still run out of shit to do within an in-game day outside of any hyperautistic activity and I simply don't consider following aesthetic build guides gameplay.

basically this and that apparently it's too much to ask a company with hundreds of employees to compete with broke modders

holy frick some of you people never grew up. smelly 32-year-old grognards are not the target audience of minecraft. little timmy doesn't want to automate a nuclear reactor or whatever autistic shit you homosexuals get up to

I'm the original anon you replied to and I'm not asking for FTB endgame/nuclear reactor depth or to even approach it, just a little bit of verticality and automation options to make building a thoughtful base meaningful in any capacity. Sure it's a children's game but why not make it good? The minimum requirements for a functional base don't have to rise along with the addition of options and functionality like that. It's just a shame to see a game with potential just stay a game with potential for over a decade

Game was peak comfy when it was simpler. Adding needless complexity to an already complex game was major ghey. Also Notch gaslighting everyone with Herobrine

They have no competition so they don't have to try, MC's modding library alone invalidates most clones.

The effort they put into them heavily contrast with the game's aesthetic which is basically virtual legos resulting in a funny.

Nothing. If you dont like the new version of the game then stick to the older versions. If you're a fan of beta 1.7.3, there's a mod called better than adventure and it still gets content updates.
