Rollerskating is dead, but Skateboarding and Surfing are still plenty popular. Skateboarding especially has been making a strong comeback now that it got turned into a recognized Olympic sport.

I do miss when the X Games were at their peak popularity, but at least that's still humming along.

I watched the xgames last summer and it was dismal. No crowd i guess because they didn't want to rent a venue/set up stands. Awful new scoring system that has no score and competitors are ranked on judge whim. Horrible.

Do gays even skate anymore? I've only seen a single person skateboards and funny enough if was some girl hauling ass on a longboard.

Americans don't know there's other places besides America. Lucky, they're easy to tardhandle.
If a location request is answered with something extremely vague or non-specific, just append ", USA" and you'll usually be right.

They are more alive than ever but real skaters for example prefer simulation games.
Session: Skate Sim and Skater XL are very popular.

the coolness factor wore off, but you can kind of see the spirit of the 90s died really suddenly in 2010, and since then it's just been a nonstop shitfest of insane consoomerism, i don't mean like they keep making goyslop (they do) but the narrative shifted from defeating the hook-nosed ceos to becoming the hook-nosed ceos

you couldn't make a Tony Hawk's Underground today, like 70% of the people on Ganker are bootlickers it'd go right over their heads

idk, maybe skateboards are just gay

Tony Hawk and SSX should not be tied to the popularity of the real life sports of skateboarding and snowboarding.
They're masterpieces of the video game medium in their own right. Activision and EA, being two thirds of the video game great satan (the final third being Ubisoft of course), will never realize this. They do not think in terms outside of cashgrabs.

  12. 2 years ago

peole are actually out doing the sports, these games transfernpoorly to videogame.media
for me its skiing and surfing
both of which are underwhelming to play games of but absolutely amazing experiences irl

      Anonymous

You fundamentally do not understand the appeal of Tony Hawk and SSX if you think they're a mere imitation of sports
Try again but this time have better video game appreciation skills

I remember playing "later" entries of THPS(Past PS2) and they tried to have some story etc. rather than just skating around and doing fun cool stuff.
Like having a story ain't bad, but I don't wanna listen to some random "man we gonna go so far and become legends" etc. With betrayal arcs and shit.
Making custom missions was fun on own maps tho. Especially S-K-A-T-E or C-O-M-B-O letters

        Rood
They aren't bad games, but I don't care about story focus etc. in sports games that much unless it is God-tier.
I just wanna do fun tricks and such. And explore the maps

riding down a hill is way more dangerous than doing a trick (unless you land right on your nutsack like this one kid did when we were kids and ripped his ballsack open)
