I hate BotW but the one thing I appreciate is that it actually makes sense to buy items like arrows in that game. Like how FFXV fixed the series's problem of giving you way too much money by making you only earn gil from hunts instead of defeating monsters, but messed up pretty much everything else.
I love the atmosphere of the shops themselves in Zelda, but mechanically they're just so fricking boring. All they sell is shit you can grind by cutting bushes.
Eh OoT's shop was kinda useless but the other games' shops have some useful items in them. Like in Link's Awakening you have to buy the shovel and bow.
OoT's shops tended to have just 1 thing you couldn't just find out in a field. You need to buy both basic kinds of shields, right? You could also buy tunics if you weren't savvy enough to find them.
I wouldn't mind if they had a couple more important items though.
>if you weren't savvy enough to find them.
In normal game progression both tunics are unmissable as adult. Buying them from the shop is only for if you lose them to a like-like or try to buy them as child.
You can also skip the hylian shield too, either completely or getting it from a chest somewhere. I think the graveyard has one.
Yeah it kinda sucks the rupee economy is so broken in OoT. Like the final reward for collecting all the skulltulla tokens is unlimited money, which is basically useless
Philosophy for that is basically the same as getting all korok seeds in Breath/Tears, which is also why the last skulltula guy is really really confused you actually fully broke the curse. The devs expected most players to get around 50 of them and think the 100%ers are weird
>excuse me sir, we are in desperate need of something that will destroy a wall, and uh, annihilate any traces of a hylian? >...I'll see what I got >now this is an interesting turn. I'm assuming this is a live bomb, yes? >oh yeah.
>guard in Kakariko can give you a discount for the Hylian shield >but you'll probably have enough to buy it the first time you visit Castle Town, especially with the room full of regenerating pots >you still need enough money to pay for the full price before using the discount anyway
This always felt kind of pointless to me. I get that it's done as a way to push you towards upgrading your shield before it's burnt away, but the backtracking required was dumb.
>but the backtracking required was dumb.
there were a lot of people who checked in with Zelda after doing Death Mountain for some reason even though the game explicitly tells you to go to Zora's Domain
I loved the little detail when the one ghost drifts too far out of its cage and he whacks the cage with the stick to scare it back. One of those things that makes OoT feel alive
His shop exists for Link so when Link leaves I guess another Kokiri starts pretending to be Link and buys his merch, it's the only way the shop still exists in the future.
>stay in business
is the Deku Tree charging the kokiri rent? I figure running the shop is practically just a game to them, he's selling seeds and sticks that are all around just outside.
Why were some of the Hylians in Hyrule square noticeably lower poly and lower res than others? Were they beta NPCs? None of them seemed to survive Ganondorf's siege since they're absent in Kakariko village.
Anon, keep in mind this was supposed to be displayed in like 240p WITH scanlines. Nobody should be looking that close at the NPC's literally designed to be far away from the camera. Clearly it was a polygon limitation necessity.
There's a bunch of NPCs including the crowds, who are just place fillers and don't make it to Kakariko. Shows that Ganondorf really did kill a lot of people upon taking over.
because they were designed for the sole purpose of there being a lot of them, necessitating lower poly count per, in a scene with a fixed more distant from normal camera position, making the lower amount of polys matter less
they're there to sell the hustle and bustle of a castle town
>Have vague dream about dark clouds over the land >See dark skinned man visiting your father, the king >Demand to have him executed even though he is the leader of a neighboring society and your country has only just regained peace after years of bloody civil war >Strange boy raised by a tree who broke into your courtyard agrees this is a sound plan
>Strange boy raised by a tree
You mean the appointed messenger of the Deku Tree, guardian sage of the forest? The Gerudo have been exiled from over 100 kingdoms, Hylians aren't racist it's just basic pattern recognition
It wasn't senseless torture, it was punishment for treason and crimes against Hylia. I saw it in a vision I had after eating some magic beans I got from this guy out in the field
we get multiple a day, every day, that hit like 300 posts
do you really need more?
or are you one of those homosexuals that just want them so you can spam rekt shit
Can I get uhhhhhhh
YOU HAD ALL DAY IN LINE, THIS PROBABLY ISN'T YOUR FIRST TIME AT THIS STORE EITHER AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I'll have two number nines
I hate BotW but the one thing I appreciate is that it actually makes sense to buy items like arrows in that game. GIVE ME SEVEN HUNDRED KRUSTY BURGERS
I love the atmosphere of the shops themselves in Zelda, but mechanically they're just so fricking boring. All they sell is shit you can grind by cutting bushes.
The shop music in Zelda is so kino I hum it every time I enter a small business.
?si=vlQEybnbgVcWkDdD
That's awesome bro. I hum the Kokiri Forest song while I finger my butthole.
Chad energy.
Melvin energy.
not to mention they show off shit you can't even buy until you get the actual item in a later dungeon
Eh OoT's shop was kinda useless but the other games' shops have some useful items in them. Like in Link's Awakening you have to buy the shovel and bow.

Yeah, I thought you might be able to find the adult shield for free but I haven't played it so long I began to doubt myself.
The Goron tunic is missable, but you basically have to sequence break, IIRC
Yeah it kinda sucks the rupee economy is so broken in OoT. Like the final reward for collecting all the skulltulla tokens is unlimited money, which is basically useless

WW's shops were actually useful. Can't chart out the entire great sea without my homie Beedle.
I hate how gay they made him in BotW.
I totally forgot he was even in that game.
WW was the comfiest game of all time
This. Love the feel of them, but they're worthless 99% of the time.
>excuse me sir, we are in desperate need of something that will destroy a wall, and uh, annihilate any traces of a hylian?
>...I'll see what I got
>now this is an interesting turn. I'm assuming this is a live bomb, yes?
>oh yeah.
give us out a bag o' chips there luv
if it was TotK, arrows every time. TotK bow is broken for a Zelda game.
Lemme get the booleru of fire.
Can you give me credit?
Give me a whole tray of peas.
Your number 😉
One bean.
>guard in Kakariko can give you a discount for the Hylian shield

It was probably meant as a way to make players explore a few more optional places and find side quests too.
The game already does that with the same NPC, as the guard is also the starting point of the happy mask salesman side quest.
True, but it could get players to start searching even earlier and try the mini-games that can also win money.
>but the backtracking required was dumb.
there were a lot of people who checked in with Zelda after doing Death Mountain for some reason even though the game explicitly tells you to go to Zora's Domain
Did you know that in one of the graves in kakariko there is a hylian shield for free??
Write his dialogue as if he were a 2012 Ubisoft npc and he has a sidequest
Just don't write it as if he was a Gearbox quest giver.
I need Bombs, lamp oil, some amber lamps, and rope. Lots of rope.
YOUR VERY OWN TIME MACHINE
ANYTHING FOR YOU, MY SON
it's a three for none
GIVE TO ME THAT WHICH I CANNOT POSSESS
Do you carry any condoms?
Are you licensed to sell those explosives, sir?
Balls of brass, polished to the nth degree.
Are you allowed to sell bombs? This is a post 9/11 world you know, Hyrule castle has seen enough yiga clan flying into it kamikaze style
>Goes on to be the poe bottle guy
Wtf
>Puts ghosts in cages
>drinks plundered liquor
>The reward he gives is just one of the empty wine bottles because he didn't really plan on a reward
he's also got that nice big bed
>Triforce on wall
I wonder if he had bigger plans
The ghost shop is comfy.
Purples are regular poes.
Yellow was a big poe.
So who was green poe?
The composer brothers you find in the graveyard are both green.
I loved the little detail when the one ghost drifts too far out of its cage and he whacks the cage with the stick to scare it back. One of those things that makes OoT feel alive
Sociopath hiding in plain sight
is that a Faces of Evil reference?
>Gee, it sure is BORING around here!
I want only your love.
Look Tomar its you!
Your finest high powered explosive, please.
99% of players miss the dying guard in the alley
That easter egg went undocumented for at least 10-15 years.
When I FORCED my sister to play this game I made sure she went into the alley for the narrative Kino.
I've got a splash of six rupees to spend, what can I get?
How about your largest and heaviest bomb? I have want to demolish a......boulder.
Are you going to bomb Hyrule Castle?
Only in Minecraft
can i get 2x1 arrows and 4x3 arrows
You can if you believe you can
Death.
How does he stay in business?
His shop exists for Link so when Link leaves I guess another Kokiri starts pretending to be Link and buys his merch, it's the only way the shop still exists in the future.
>stay in business
is the Deku Tree charging the kokiri rent? I figure running the shop is practically just a game to them, he's selling seeds and sticks that are all around just outside.
I will buy one(1) stick, please.
Pyon or Bub?
Choose wisely huh huh huh huhhh
three cyanide capsules, please.
Hey man is that your brother over in the shooting gallery? You guys have the same body type.
A Hylian Shield and as many bombs as I can carry. Arrows? No, I don't need those.
Why were some of the Hylians in Hyrule square noticeably lower poly and lower res than others? Were they beta NPCs? None of them seemed to survive Ganondorf's siege since they're absent in Kakariko village.

Do you accept EBT card?
lamp oil
Reminder Japs are obsessed with white people.
Link is white.
This man is white.
Everyone in Kokiri village is white.
It's not too late to open your eyes.
They know what sells.
He looks like he fricks gorons.
Shops are absolutely the best fricking thing ever on OoT and MM randomizers
Finally, a good frickin thread
I love how unique Zelda npcs tend to look.
She could just kidnao kids by trapping them in a maze and no one ever wondered about that
>What'll it be?
I'll take a pound of deku nuts.
THAT'S A LOT OF NUTS!!
You know the rules
Ganondorf did nothing wrong.
Zelda is racist and ordered his execution for ""visions" of the "future"" that came to her in a dream.
Hylians are racist and oppressed bokoblins and moblins. They need to let them in as reparations for holding them down.
Interpreting vague dreams is a perfectly valid way to set govt policy in your kingdom
>Have vague dream about dark clouds over the land
>See dark skinned man visiting your father, the king
>Demand to have him executed even though he is the leader of a neighboring society and your country has only just regained peace after years of bloody civil war
>Strange boy raised by a tree who broke into your courtyard agrees this is a sound plan
typical femoid behavoiur
>Strange boy raised by a tree
You mean the appointed messenger of the Deku Tree, guardian sage of the forest? The Gerudo have been exiled from over 100 kingdoms, Hylians aren't racist it's just basic pattern recognition
Gerudo are Hylia's ally.
You know what the Hylians did to the Sheikah, right?
You ever wonder why there's only one left and she's a slave of the royal family?
Is that what the bloody sex dungeon under Kakariko was for?
It wasn't senseless torture, it was punishment for treason and crimes against Hylia. I saw it in a vision I had after eating some magic beans I got from this guy out in the field
The Sheikah were Hyrule's Gestapo and were targeted by other countries as revenge during the wars.
Can I get an animal .webm thread, a thread about engineering / aviation disasters, and a Demon's Souls thread that lasts more than 40 posts
Thank you
40 rupees
>animal webm thread
Apparently not because homosexual mods don't understand board culture.
we get multiple a day, every day, that hit like 300 posts
do you really need more?
or are you one of those homosexuals that just want them so you can spam rekt shit
A single plum floating in perfume served in a man's hat.
On May 10th we should go to the Zelda sfpre and ask for the Fortnite burger. The look on the workers face will be epic.
Gimme three scoops o' bombs in a sack
I want a spaceship and a unicorn medium rare
