I just don't understand why people avoid having eye candy. It's quite literally free marketing, automata and ryza weren't that good but thanks to their protags they got very popular. If I made a (hopefully good) game I would design my characters around baiting people into drawing fanart. Big breasts, e-girl, tsundere, some fetish bait here and there so almost everyone has something to look at, within reason of course, it all depends on the gameplay and story of the game.

Depends on the game. If you've already got an 8/10 in one department but only a 3/10 in the other, you're better off bringing the 8 up to a 10 than trying to bring the 3 up to a 5.
Doing any of the four with sincerity. Furthermore doing one with pride creates a masterpiece.
More to the point nowadays I lean on ass and tiddies being more important personally.
