The only one I agree with is Turbine and Thundermt final
Turbine suck because the entire map design around you go to the middle area with no way to flank the enemy like 2fort water path. If a engineer set up a sentry nest in the middle point chance are your team are fricked.
Thundermt final is interesting ideas for red team to set up their defense on higher place but the problem is that blue team can't get into higher place if red team have good defense thus making it one side.
Replace well with CTF_Sawmill and I'll fully agree with you. CTF is meant to be a long and drawn out game mode and Sawmill just makes it uber cozy with the rain ambience.
While 2fort is something of the poster child for TF2 Badwater feels so quintessential, so pure TF2 that it's hard to believe it wasn't there at launch. A Team Fortress 2 without Badwater just feels wrong
The first point of Badwater, the rest of the map isn't terrible or anything but thats the only part thats perfect. If I had to pick one specific map though I think it would probably be Process. I also would shout out Harvest as the most fun even if it is too easy to spawncamp.
Pretty much, it's got an interesting idea going on, but it's horribly balanced to the point where matches either completely stalemate or one team completely dominates.
It was omitted from the original quick play system meaning people had to go out of their way using the server browser to play the worst map in the game.
Too ambitious. I was going to say for its time but even if you could get it to work as one continuous map how would you balance the spawns of 6 CP? Closest I can think of would be some horrible amalgam of Steel and koth but even that'd be snowbally and boring
Since when does over-trash has any content? You gays don't have any custom maps and play on the same horrible badly designed shit maps since release. Awful fricking game. BlizzBlack folk really do eat whatever shit blizzard serves on a plate.
Reading this thread made me realize how most of Tf2's maps are really good
How did Valve manage to release so many great maps without dropping the ball?
Dustbowl is literally the only good attack/defend map.
The 3 maps are designed so that it's harder for the attackers and easier for the defenders as the map progresses, meaning even if you get rolled on round 1 as defense it doesn't necessarily mean the game is over.
None of the other attack/defend maps were designed this way.
I haven't played this map in like a decade, but I remember enjoying it. So many underrated maps like it and nucleus but no sever ever runs them. It's all 2fort, Hightower, turbine, dustbowl, badwater and upward. The last 2 are kino but still I want to play other shit.
I feel bad to say that Steel is one of the worst maps in my opinion. >Always get lost as Red >Blue too often goes for just A, B, and E. >D is almost never captured, only to bargain for more time. >You are required to leave a minisentry or better on E or risk losing the point to a Scout or blast jumping Soldier/Demo.
Getting lost on steel always baffles me because the map does a fantastic job of guiding you, letting you then deviate from the guides when you've learnt the layout properly.
I only have two problems with steel: >each zone is way too small, there's no way to flank A or B as blu >Red loses any decent access to E when D gets capped. At this point it is literally over for red as blu gains control of their spawn. There's a difference between being put in a disadvantage (which is what should happen to red when D gets capped) and being unable to leave your spawn properly, preventing you from getting to the point to defend it (which is what actually happens).
The dropdown onto A point is so powerful that comp matches don't even bother trying to hold the 1st point and after you can use the A-E connector to flank B point. Holding E with no other points is a struggle but if you hold the A-E connector and manage to sneak guys into the A sniper den every now and then its possible to make the reversal
Forgot about using A-E connector to flank B. Basically, a lot of my gripes with steel would be fixed by just making the map bigger and adding more flank routes within each point's designated zone. These points are TINY compared to other maps.
>Loud brapping echoes throughout the map >Camera cuts to RED base >Heavy is sitting on Scout's face >Brapping >Scout is visibly erect >Heavy pulls out a hot pepper and eats it >Eyes go wide >drumbounce.mp3 >"Uh oh" >Lets out an atomic brap >Scoutdeathscream.mp3 >Scout gets up >His face is on fire >"FIYA FIYA FIYA!" >Sniper runs in and throws a mason jar at the Scout >"I upgraded mates!" >Heavy looks at the Scout >The jar was full of chunky half liquid shit >Scout pops a boner again >Demo walks in and begins fricking the Scout while smothering as much of the poo on him as possible >Scout braps hard enough to inflate the demo and separate them >drunknigsounds.mp3 >"I've got two dickets to the cum show, and I'm not giving 'em to ya. I'm going with YOUR dickets" >Demo begins to float away >Spy runs up and grabs the demo's legs >"Well, off to visit your mothers!" >Spy slips due to the poop and lands anus first on the scope of a BLU sniper who was looking up and spinning (He's a bot) >Sniper begins shooting >Spydeathscream.mp3 >Spydeathscream2.mp3 >Spydeathscream5.mp3 >Spy begins pissing and sharting from the experience >Medic and Engineer gaze upon the whole scene with a concerned look on their faces
People complain sniper for bots do why not just give him a cool down after headshoting someone?
No seriously it would preventing both good sniper player and bot to quickly kill all of the enemy team too so why not?
99% of this thread never played Arena and it shows
Arena had the best version of Granary, Nucleus, Well, Badlands, and Sawmill, it had it's own great maps like Lumberyard and Watchtower, and some goofy event maps.
All of the maps in TF2 are terrible. Left 4 Dead 2's maps on the other hand, are actually well designed and fun to play through
TF2 is dead, it's time to move on to the superior multiplayer Valve shooter AKA Left 4 Dead 2 >Fully mod supported with a large amount to choose from >Consistent playerbase that isn't filled with bots >No israelite cosmetics, if you want to change the appearance of someone you download a mod, no transactions required >A well programmed game director ensures that almost every game you play is different than the last, promoting replayability >even if you get bored of playing the same campaign maps all the time, there are plenty of great custom maps to choose from >has one of the most advanced gore systems in a vidya >Versus still makes homosexuals and shitters seethe to this day
Gravel Pit tbh
Love the layout even though most games involve charging one point rather than both teams distributing pressure evenly
Plus the old TF2 maps had this knack for pretty beautiful backgrounds, on Gravel Pit and Hydro i liked looking into the distant mountains, buildings and roads while waiting around wondering what's over there
Hydro being bad is an overblown meme. It's not like the map design is overly atrocious.
Just morons that play one match of it, don't understand what's going on, get reminded of their favorite youtuber and go "lol hydro bad xD" and never play it again
cp_process_final
FPBP I mean I don't know if it's the best but you clearly have taste.
all of them, masterclass of map design
>turbine
>thundermt

Thundermountain is kino
Best not be suggesting 5cp is bad homosexual.
It's a good map for compgays.
The only one I agree with is Turbine and Thundermt final

5gorge, Snakewater, and Freight are some of the most fun maps.
>mentions thundermountain
>doesn't mention Junction
Hightower. Accept no substitutes
Sniper/ Engie main detected. If not your a masochist soldier who enjoys get sniped out of the air for some reason. 1/10 map.
t.coping
2fort
badwater and steel are probably objectively the best maps
OFFICIAL BEST MAPS
simply reply and agree
best payload - badwater
best payload race - hightower
best koth - harvest
best 5 cp - process
best a/d - steel
best arena - lumberyard
best ctf - well
agree
100% Tru
Replace well with CTF_Sawmill and I'll fully agree with you. CTF is meant to be a long and drawn out game mode and Sawmill just makes it uber cozy with the rain ambience.
Agree with everything but ctf
You only got a/d right
>payload
Thunder Mountain
>payload race
Nightfall
>koth
Cascade
>5cp
Sunshine
>arena
OffBASED
>ctf
Sawmill
>payload
>Thunder Mountain
not with those sniper sightlines
AAAHI'M SORRY, MATE
God I'm pissed off that took CTF_Well out of the map rotation. Stupid fricking matchmaking.
the best ctf are landfall or doublecross
otherwise pretty standard
Best payload: Badwater
Best payload race: Nightfall
Best KOTH: Sawmill
Best 5CP: Snakewater
Best A/D: Gorge
Best Arena: Nucleus
Best CTF: Well
While 2fort is something of the poster child for TF2 Badwater feels so quintessential, so pure TF2 that it's hard to believe it wasn't there at launch. A Team Fortress 2 without Badwater just feels wrong

I dunno about best, but my favorite is Badlands. Any variant, really.
Airblasting people off the map never gets old
badwater and dustbowl
The first point of Badwater, the rest of the map isn't terrible or anything but thats the only part thats perfect. If I had to pick one specific map though I think it would probably be Process. I also would shout out Harvest as the most fun even if it is too easy to spawncamp.
cp_steel has always been my favorite, but close seconds are also badwater, upward, and maybe dustbowl.
2fort
GET ME A SANDWICH
I love hydro, it has something for every class. Turbine would be up there if it wasn't for the degenerate sniper sightlines.
you posted it
why doesnt anyone play hydro?
YOU FAILED
STALEMATE
just enable sudden death mode
Pretty much, it's got an interesting idea going on, but it's horribly balanced to the point where matches either completely stalemate or one team completely dominates.

TF2C made pretty good use of hydro, mainly for 4 team games.
too much downtime between rounds
It really wasn't designed with unlocks in mind.

TURBINE MOTHERFRICKER
Landfall
Badwater.

Wtf I love Overwatch now
Are you calling Overwatch ass?

remember when overwatch rehashed the same halloween event for 5 years in a row?
Hydro
There are so many excellent maps I don't think I could pick one, and that's without considering custom maps.
what's the best Saxton Hale boss?
Saxton Hale.
Chuck Norris
Gravelpit.
Best map? Probably Upward or Badwater
Favorite map? Steel.
harbl hotel
Gorge or Sawmill
Reading this thread made me realize how most of Tf2's maps are really good
How did Valve manage to release so many great maps without dropping the ball?
The best maps are all the community made ones.
There's many awesome map makers.
Browse CS maps. Rats, surf, gungame, funyard.
They're very good.
Dustbowl is literally the only good attack/defend map.

Objectively the best designed map for TF2.
It sucks when the intel ends up on the moving ground.

Frick offf
Remove Sniper, case closed

Team Fortress Classic 2Fort was based
Yeah, but in that game you could conc jump and bunny hop to the flag in like 10 seconds flat.
out of the 4000 hours i have in tf2 i think 3900 of them are in dustbowl
It's fun simple as

Arena is a janky game mode and requires mods for it to be good.
Nobody should sit out of a match.
But my favorite arena map, is actually Offblast, followed by Lumberyard.
I actually made koth versions of these maps for bantfortress.
>koth versions of maps where spawn is a little garage
Yeah, works well if you have fewer than 10 people on the server.
All of the maps in TF2 are terrible. Left 4 Dead 2's maps on the other hand, are actually well designed and fun to play through
TF2 is dead, it's time to move on to the superior multiplayer Valve shooter AKA Left 4 Dead 2

I liked it better when you did the Artifact shtick.
Mossrock!!!!

I have never played on Fastlane or Yukon and those maps have been in the game for like 14 years
i don't believe that you've never played fastlane even once
Fastlane sucks ass but Yukon is pretty good
cs_office
Yeah
Upward was always the most memorable, Harvest too
Gravel Pit tbh
Love the layout even though most games involve charging one point rather than both teams distributing pressure evenly
Plus the old TF2 maps had this knack for pretty beautiful backgrounds, on Gravel Pit and Hydro i liked looking into the distant mountains, buildings and roads while waiting around wondering what's over there
I still don't have the achievement for winning gravelpit without losing a point
shit is hard if the enemy team isn't smooth-brained
if only A wasn't such aids to defend
For me it's Well.

I am still sad valve got rid of Robot Destruction
It was pretty fun
Science and Industry did it better. By the end it didn't feel far removed from standard CTF and maybe that's why it died.
Is the map any good?
I loved the shit out of the og asteroid map
>Only three populated community servers in Australia
>Two are fricking Skial 24/7 2Fort

Fricks sake.
That's because Australia is not a real place.
I like pl_frontier_final. seems to be something for every class on that map
theres nothing for scout on any payload map aside from thundermountain and swiftwater
For me it's Class Wars at Dustbowl
Mann_manor_event because I like Halloween and spooky manors. Koth_harvest is a good contender too.
And dustbowl/2fort for the soul.
2fort
> used to play Banana Bay almost exclusively

Steel. It's fun and it filters morons.
I wish tf2 had more comfy rainy maps like sawmill
