How much does Witcher 2 save transfer improve the Witcher 3 experience and how much does Witcher 1 save transfer improve the Witcher 2 experience?

      Anonymous

None. The devs just didn't care. CDPR life philosophy.

Witcher 2 just doesn't have any of your choices in 1 matter. At all. If you found the most OP gear in Witcher 1, you'll get them at start of 2 but they'll look like garbage and will become useless after 15 minutes of play. And I think Thaler will send you a message if you keep him alive in 1.

Witcher 3 only respects one (1) choice, whether you kill Letho or not. But ultimately you just get one side quest play out a little differently. Thaler will be alive even if he died in your W1 save. I think Roche will comment on whether you sided with him or not but it doesn't really affect anything,

Nothing really matters, honestly. Doesn't matter if you saved the princess instead of Triss. Doesn't matter if you sided with Saskia and Iorveth. Doesn't matter if you cured Foltest's daughter. Nothing.

      From what I remember
      >W1 to W2
Just gives you better equipment at the start of the game which gets powercrept almost immediately anyway
      >W2 to W3
Certain quest in W3 goes very differently if you didn't kill certain character in W2 is biggest change. There're also some small changes like dialogues changing slightly reflecting your choices in W2.

    >Breath of the Wild
    >Wild Hunt
    >Elden Ring
    >Skyrim
    >Red Dead Cutscene and Obnoxiously long miscellaneous animations boring-ass movie-game 2

RDR 2 would have been better as a TV series instead of trying to be a game, prove me wrong. There literally nothing good about it except for it's story and characters. Everything else about it that one could argue as also being good (animations and whatnot) are negatives when it comes to actually being a fun video game. I fricking love it my first time through but I've tried 4 times to do a second playthrough and I just can't do it because of how tedious and monotonous it's """gameplay"""" is.

finding random stuff in RDR2 is the best part and honestly one of the most immersive things in videogames ever but yeah, the game itself sucks, it's just riding on a horse and then hiding behind cover and L2+R2 hundreds of enemies over and over again

        Anonymous

You know what, you're right. I take some of it back. The exploration aspect of the game is quite good. But all that could have very easily be repackaged into a better game with much more appealing core gameplay.

      Anonymous

It would have been ruined if it was a tv series because it would have been written by a board of New York hacks, middlebrow bullshit to the core but they think they are great, smart writers and are better than they actually are

I scrolled through my Steam games and ranked all the modern open world stuff in terms of how much I enjoyed them. From most to least:

    Arkham City
    Dragon's Dogma
    Ass Creed Black Flag
    Kingdom Come Deliverance
    Elden Ring
    Arkham Knight
    Spider-Man
    Ass Creed 2 and Brotherhood
    ELEX
    Fallout New Vegas
    Witcher 3
    Far Cry 3
    Saints Row 3-4
    Skyrim
    classic Ass Creed games (3 > Revelations > 1 > Unity)
    Nu Ass Creed Odyssey
    Shadow of Mordor, War
    Sleeping Dogs
    Days Gone
Nu Ass Creed Origins > Valhalla
    Just Cause 2
    Metal Gear Solid V

Kingdom Come Deliverance for me. One of the only games that felt like it had an organic, contiguous open world that wasn’t just artificially copy-pasted or overly-varied.

Out of that picture I’d say BotW made the most use of its open world. If Fallout 3 was in the picture instead of NV, I’d choose that

      Anonymous

      >One of the only games that felt like it had an organic, contiguous open world that wasn’t just artificially copy-pasted or overly-varied.
      >Out of that picture I’d say BotW made the most use of its open world
      These are very contradicting statements.

        Anonymous

Well not really, the first is praise for KCD and the second claim is that BotW made the most use of the open-world concept. It had a shitload of copy-pasted stuff like Koroks and Temples but the open world concept actively worked in the game’s favor (whereas I don’t think it matters at all if ER is open world or not).

          Anonymous

          >but the open world concept actively worked in the game’s favor
I think the exact opposite. Ignoring all the copy paste, I still think it ruined the game a few hours in and that they were so strung up on the freedom aspect, it ruined all purpose and progression and basically just became a walking sim where you have to stop thinking because you know the destination isn't going to be worth the effort.

            Anonymous

Well, I can only speak to my feeling that, when I played through the game, one of the few motivating things about BotW was the feeling of exploration and immersion. I didn’t really like the combat or the “dungeons,” but I did love that the world felt big enough that I couldn’t tack everything down immediately, while never feeling totally barren or copy-pasted (with the exception of the desert area, which wasn’t that great). The game seemed to push exploration and poking around the world’s edges seemed a natural thing to do, not one that seemed forced because it was the outskirts on a map.

With Skyrim (which I still think is good, open-world wise) and ER, I think it’s easy to fall into this idea of “look at the map, find the most out-there location, and go see if the devs hid something cool.” Whereas with BotW, it felt that the devs did away with this idea and made everything equally interesting to navigate. The same is true with KCD. I’m not sure if this makes a lot of sense to anyone but me but, yeah, that’s it.

              Anonymous

              >Whereas with BotW, it felt that the devs did away with this idea and made everything equally interesting to navigate
We might hold opposite views on how well botw executed that, but appreciate you explaining your stance respectfully, it's rare when it comes to botw.
I think skyrim is by far the better open world of the three, but er is the best game. Elden ring managed to fill its world better than any open world I've ever played and had a far stronger art direction, whereas skyrim literally wouldn't be able to work without being open world as its whole shtick is going hard on worldbuilding and immersion and I think people recognizing and trying to capitalize on that potential is why it's by far the most modded game out there.
Though I'll admit I'm biased when it comes to botw since I was a huge zelda fan and don't feel like it's a zelda game and I truly hated it a while after leaving the plateau, I do think it got some things right with its traversal and physics.

    2. New Vegas - Best Rpg of the list
    3. Red Dead - Beautiful world and hunting simulation, but it would have been better if it were an rpg, a bit boring otherwise
    4. Skyrim - It just has aged badly compared to rest and has a robotic feel to its characters, npcs
    5. Elden Ring - well its a souls game so its trash, jerking off to boss fights and ridicolous difficulty is not my taste

BoTW is closer to Just Cause 2 or MGSV for me. Fun sandbox to frick around in with absolute dogshit side content
