this, also, get a translation patch you can do it yourself, but it's a bit tricky if you're a normalgay moron
if you can't do it yourself, ask here, some anons probably have the patched files

    >has the original locked behind stupid requirements.
I think you just find it in one of the levels.
I've played it on PSP the most, but it has some issues (final cutscene has desynch audio, and there's some screen shimmering when you move, maybe it looks better if you use a PSP to TV adapter). Still not a bad option to play on the go, it plays well and all.
The Wii version is probably the best other than the original PC Engine version, it displays at 240p so it looks just as good, only difference is that it has the new german intro speech, and the censored werewolf sprite, same as the PSP version.
Basically, PC Engine original or Wii if you play on a TV, and PSP is not a bad option to play on the go.
Oh yeah there's also Castlevania Requiem on PS4 which was a kind of lazy effort porting Rondo and SOTN but I think it didn't include the Rondo remake and Dracula X Peke (which was included on PSP). Didn't try Requiem but I guess it should be fine?
Anyway, play it, any version. It's a good game. Provided you played the previous Castlevania titles already.

The german speech intro was also in the original release, wasn't it? I remember it when I played it on emulation before the Wii.

        >is that it has the new german intro speech
Wait, what do you mean? I remember emulating the original on PC and it had the German speech too. Was my ROM ripped from Virtual Console? Cause when I tried it on my Wii it was identical iirc. I thought it was cool as shit actually and if it wasn't in the original then it's a nice addition

Both versions are in german. For some reason, Konami re-recorded it with a different actor for PSP/Wii. Not really a deal breaker, it's basically the same.

I played the Requiem version, I can only say it worked perfectly

      how is the werewolf changed?

I know it's never happening because Sony paid for it but I really wish a Requiem like compilation or a loophole with those 2 games in a different collection in other platforms.

I find it really weird how SoTN has never been re-released on a non-Playstation console aside from that XBLA port

            Sega Saturn.
But yeah, given the popularity the game has garnered in recent times, it's weird Konami isn't milking it out more, probably has to do with Sony shenanigans.

A few extra colored pixels were added to his human naked form to serve as underwear.

yes because murdering werewolves care about covering their penis before using it to rape/kill everything in their path

the censors are drunk with power and absolutely moronic

            >Intro literally has a money stabbed in the chest to revive dracula
            >But a shriveled werewolf dick needs to be covered up
            I will never understand censorship.

You can just download a completed save file for the PSP version if you really want. But yeah emulating the PCE version is your best bet.

Either emulating on Retroarch with shaders.

It takes as much effort as playing sotn, what the frick. If you're too lazy to do that then I think you're too lazy to play rondo. Maybe dracula x would be better for you? Also>> 9041604, or on the PC engine hardware via ssd3.

need, thanks for all the infos. i will try the PSP version again with the 100% save files. If that one doesn't do it i might use whatever the link here is
Don't really feel like putting up a PCE Emulator if it's the only game i'm going to play on it. So that one's a last resort.

if you do use that link, bare in mind that the pc engine had multiple controllers, that's what the I/II etc symbols are for and what confused me the first time setting the controls up
the first controller works since castlevania doesn't really use a lot of buttons anyway

Oh yeah, another weird thing I noticed on the PSP version. The sky color for the water serpent boss is blue in the original, but in PSP is gray for some reason.
IIRC, the Wii looked just like the PC Engine, this was only on PSP.

Problem with PSP/PS4 version is it has HORRENDOUS desynced cutscene audio that I'm shocked it shipped in that state. The fan-patch is oddly enough a better implementation of the English voices than the official releases.

They didn't fix that for the PS4? wow.
It's kind of funny when you play as Maria because Dracula moves his mouth but you still hear Maria speaking.

Ever wonder what Shaft was doing with Maria when Richter found her? Retroactively, it's said that he (potentially inadvertently) unlocked her power to summon beasts, but was he planning to brainwash her, turn her into a vampire, or sacrifice her ala the maiden in the intro? You'd think the remake would've made her a boss if she was going to be anything more than a senseless sacrifice. Would've liked to see that scenario. Was it considered but deemed too depressing to reveal because she's just a child?

He gave her the Shaft (I can dig it)

You have to get to stage 4 (not even beat it, just get partway though it) to unlock original Rondo, which might take a whole 20 minutes. If you can't manage that you shouldn't even be playing any classicvania you fricking crybaby
