Final Fantasy fans are wild, from defending XIV's flaws to insisting there are no bad entries. I've never seen a fanbase as defensive as them.
I always figured it's because the games are all so different from one-another that the only uniting factor is the brand, so people become loyal to the brand rather than the gameplay.

People invest so much time into MMOs that they get scared shitless when anyone so much as suggests that another MMO might have done a certain thing better than the one they play. It's lack of critical awareness like that which is why the whole genre is going down the drain.

Pretty much anything Nintendo. Trying to criticize any of their "masterpieces" will get you just called as a supposed marketer of an enemy tribe of theirs, even when you show them a game that is literally the exact same as their 10/10 but it got 6/10 because its not a nintendo owned IP.

DS1 fans won’t defend Lost Izalith. DS2 fans will defend every single inch of their game.
That's because all the areas in DS2 actually have good design whereas the entire second half of Dark Souls is worse than anything in Dark Souls 2.
