Take your shitty reddit memes somewhere else
you know a lot about reddit dont you, maybe you should go back there homosexual.
6 in A, 4 down to B. Then it's about right. You missed call to power though, which probably goes in B.
>call to power
was CTP II good? i always thought it looked nice but never played it myself
>4 down to B
haha
>6 in A
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!
I would upgrade beyond earth to B if they would fricking put a button to tell everyone to SHUT THE FRICK UP and allow you to disable this stupid ideology mixing mechanic
also civilization 4 5 and 6 are A tier, 3 is B tier and alpha centauri is the only S one
Swap V with IV and III with II
Perfect but move everything except SMAC down a tier.
S - SMAC, II
A - III, I (Maybe, I started with II but I guess it couldn't have been bad if II and III were so good)
B - IV
C - V, VI
F - BE
Who Cares - whatever else
Revolution at least had a clear vision and some novelty. Beyond Earth is just pure trash
S: Civ 5
A: Alpha centauri, 4
B: Beyond Earth, 3, 2
C:1, Rev
D: Civ 6
Civ Black folk are the worst playerbase in all strategy games. Not even paradox homosexuals are worst than them
>hey guys what civ should I start with?
>YOU OBVIOUSLY SHOULD START WITH CIV III
>EVEN BETTER IF CIV II
>THEY ARE TOTALLY NO OLD PIECES OF SHIT
Idiots
Civ V is peak civ and anything before it is old boring shit and civ vi should have never existed
kek
civ 2 and 3 are really hard to get into if you weren't there, i hate people that recommend them
filtered
You're a huge gay but recommending Civ2 without specifying which version when there isn't even a commercially available digital variant is just meaningless showboating.
this
most people that repeat nonsense about civ 2 have never played it and are just /gsg/ homosexuals trying to fit in
>you never played it!
Nobody else will play your shit game grandpa
i'm aware, it's a piece of shit to get into
>homosexual cries for yous
>is crying for yous himself
have a nice day
>Zoomer can't google nor pirate
Properly filtered, good
>homosexual cries for (You)s
Here, grab some, starving fella
I just use my old ass burned pirate CD from like early 00s that has Civ 2 on it. I have no idea what version is that. That being said yeah, I can't see anyone getting into Civ II/III nowadays and even SMAC is a big ask though that one doesn't have a not-shit modern version so there's no choice.
It always looked nice and felt nice for the few turns I managed to play but it crashed constantly. Even the GoG version is kinda ass. Feels like it's less of an issue with modern systems and more with the game itself.
its non issue, besides the very rare contrarian gay who sometimes shitposts i have never seen people recommend civ2 to new players. Its always civ5/6 or 4 and all of them are very streamlined and modern even 2023 zoomers can play without any problem.
civ 4 has great everything except combat
i know i am coming off as a contrarian but i really hated army stacks especially since the AI itself doesn't understand it and the dice roll battles are not fun to deal with
4 also has the shittiest nukes in the series and i hate that
For me 1 unit per tile the way it was implemented in civ5/6 isnt really an improvement, late game logistics is a chore and 1UPT makes AI play terribly. In civ4 you organize your army logically, get some pikemen for anti cav, macemen for melee, some trebuchets to bombard, it makes sense. As for RNG you never have full information about the battlefield and outcome of the battle, i think some variance is better than just pure deterministic algorithm to simulate the fight.
multiple units per tile is fine if we removed the RNG based system and instead calculated battles like civ 5/6
civ 6 added armadas/battalions that allow you to merge 3 units into one
stacked units leaves no room for flanking or strategy, just doomstacking like paradox games but turn based
it's not fun
Cause it's not a tactics game, it's a strategy game. Warfare is an abstraction on a Civilization level simulation. You are the head of state, not a commander, logistics and army composition and economics is the part youre managing, not leading a flank.
fair argument, i still like the combat not being a dice roll more and am okay with stacking if the dice was removed
i played aow3 a lot and i got to the point i dont want tactical combat like that in 4X game, small fights early game are fine but once you learn the patter its all the same shit every game, big fights are not fun and take way too long. Theres also strategic principle that you always want to engage when you have advantage so most fights are trivial and waste of time. Im yet to find 4X game which struck balance between good combat and not making it a chore. Gladius is close but once you hit 10++ units leapfrogging with army becomes annoying af.
>Game old
>So it's bad
How does it feel to be a literal zoomer throwing a temper tantrum about your own incompetence?
I mean Christ, it's Civ 2 out of all things that got you filtered. A game that can be played with a fricking mouse, and has clear, easy-to-read windows, along with, well, Windows display. It's like b***hing about AoE being too hard for you, because it's older than you.
>>Game old
>>So it's bad
Correct
What is with Civ5's obsessive apologist fanbase of barely literate zoomers? It almost deserves credit, something about it really struck a chord with moronic children.
It was a lot of the current civ playerbase’s first civ, also a lot easier to understand and play than earlier games
I love Civilization V, but let's be honest Civilization IV is the best.
S: SMAC
A: IV (+nu-Colonization), III, II
B: I, V
C: VI, old-Colonization, CTP I&II
D: Rev
F: Beyond Earth
>nuCol above Col
>Rev below CTP1
So close, yet so distant
Civ 1 is pure simple fun and should be in S, rest is ok
civ 4 closely followed by vox populi
everything else sucks
Civ Revolution had a lot of soul for a console version. It's what got me into strategy games at all. Also big booba brown Cleopatra had me fffffFRICKED up.
We wuz big booba. Why she is black if she was Ptolemy (Macedon) hertige? Stupid uneducate hacks.
i wish all mutts die
>not listing the best civ game
You are Black person homosexual on such colossal scale that you have your own chapter in observational astronomy textbooks
>t. homosexual who never actually played it himself
I wish C3 never got any expansions at all. They fricked that game beyond recovery. It is genuinely better vanilla, than with expansions.
The more it's Brian Reynolds than Sid, the better.
Original Colonization, then Alpha Centauri
I'm sad people don't put Call to Power to these lists.
I liked it a lot.
Civ VI should be one tier lower, Beyond Earth should be bottom tier
S: SMAC, 4
A: 2, 3
B: 6, 1
C: Rev, 5
D: BE
How do you rate the expansions, though? I feel that more often than not they add broken or poor mechanics and BLOAT to vanilla installments. Not in the sense more civs are bad, but units that pad up numbers but don't add any substance.
For example, I like Warlords more than Beyond the Sword. The only good thing the latter added is air unit promotions and flanking siege unit to combat.
It’s funny how smug civ players are for being baby’s first strategy game
>6 not in F tier
Meme list
I think 4 is the best, but I enjoy the doomstacks of 2 quite a bit.
>doomstacks of 2
isnt SMAC the same engine? how the hell do you move your entire stack of units at the same time, dont tell me you enjoy moving them 1 by 1
Ctrl
thats how u select entire stack in civ4 but does nothing in SMAC.
I hated VI so much it made me switch to paradox games
If I want to play CIv 4 again, what's the best way to do it now?
Are there any mandatory mods or do I just play vanilla?
vanilla civ4 + BUG mod, +blue marble if you want improved textures
Vanilla with both expansions is the best experience, UNLESS you want to explore some mod-specific stuff. Mods are either "all or nothing" - you get into total overhauls (C2C included on this list), or you don't use mods at all.
>S tier
The ones you have fun playing
>A tier
The ones you enjoyed, but have some annoying to you quirks
>B tier
The ones that you played a bit, but don't feel like returning to
>C tier
The ones you played once and never returned to
>b-but which are those
Depends on players. I can't get enough of Civ 3. Does it make it the ultimate Civ? Not really. But I enjoy playing it for past 20 years, so go fricking figure
