Disgusting amount of unpainted models. Shameful display. My gaming club has guys getting into the old world. Personally I'm not that enthusiastic about it, would rather stick to OPR.
Over 40 starter boxes sold on preorder, they had about 6 left in stock when I was there the day before yesterday, seems like it's selling well at least
Not too much going on because there's a strong historicals scene and once people went to that from whfb originally, there was no going back, game quality is night and day better
I get that people want to try out the new system but have some self respect. Communities need standards to push back against games looking like this. As for the game itself I haven't seen the Old World being played at my lgs yet but people are definitely interested and working on getting armies ready.
>unpainted shit
Yep, another proof that pandering to the sweatards was a mistake. You are the cancer that killed Old World.
the problem is autistic grogs keep telling people the starter point range is 2000+ points.
When its better to get in at 1000 points. You can make 1000 pts out of a Battalion. Its less painting too.
If the game sucks and isn't fun, no amount of paint will fix it. And the problem with sweatards is that they are only interested in self-affirmation, and they are ready to buy any overpowered crap just to get an advantage at the table. This gives a short-term boost in sales, but in the long-term it just kills games.
>If the game sucks and isn't fun, no amount of paint will fix it.
Nonsense. 40k is an absolutely dogshit game and midwits still love to play it because it gives them a chance to show off their very specially painted space marines.
Nope, unpainted crap even at tournaments. The situation is so bad that even the organizers no longer try to hide it, the game has become a means of sublimation for losers and nothing more.
I don't get it, I'm a so so painter but four colours, a wash and some flock and varnish and they are playable. I know commission painters who have offered to do my stuff but it's fricken mine

And I don't get why you think painting is at all important.
Enjoy painting. If you like it, you like it. But if you insist that other people should have painted armies, then those people should insist you prove you know the rules and can actually play well before playing against you.

>you know the rules and can actually play well before playing against you.
You can do it, but such behavior will only show even more what a loser you are and that the only achievement in life you have is winning tournaments. And while there are a small number of losers like you out there, most normal people want a game that is fun.

It's the true secondary that doesn't paint at all, you saw an influx after the coof, you saw an influx in 1997-1999 and they both coincided with a lot of inexcusable grey. They don't have to be amazing, just decent. A clean simple model with a wash is very acceptable when you need to do 150 of them.

Nah it's whack, it kills the hobby. Painting is 90% of the time if even regulsr gamers. You can even just spray them a base colour, spray them from above in a highlight colour, paint two details, wash and base and it will look better than just a sea of grey. I need narrative, I'm not even a great painter. When I am faced with a hundred models I paint them with washes. Just pure grey is pathetic. You could even paint one colour, add paint pen markings or metallics, wash and base and it would look more distinct, toy soldier style. I would unironically rather face a well presented papercraft army im good order than a sea of grey.

I think we're going to make it, bros.
It's sold out here. There's lots of excited talk about doing a league. The guys who were trying to talk everyone into doing Oathmark or Conquest instead have bent the knee.
IMO painting/model-building/lore/list-building is what makes it a complete hobby. Every time a pre-paint game like X-Wing, Monpoc, Mageknight, etc has dropped it always sold like crazy for a couple years and then suddenly died.

MTG tourist; GTFO if you don't want to paint. Painting isnt for you; it's for your opponent.
I was over at my Chaos Lord's house the other day helping with some household chores. He lives in a very rural area of a very Chaotic shrine. At the end of the day we went to one of the nearby Norscan taverns. It’s the kind of place that plunderers, champions, legit chosen boot wearers and the thralls go to unwind with a cold one.
God-King was on the TV and the local gun store owner said to his horse mechanic (friends since high school),
“You know what? He ain’t so bad. The economy is recovering, nobody’s rioting, and we’re standing up on the world stage again. Can’t believe I’m saying this but Ol’ Azyr Sigmar’s got my vote this year.”
I looked around and all I saw were heads nodding in agreement. I heard a few calls of “Yes sir” and “Damn Straight” from the men around me. Even saw the lonely ball cap wearing farmer in the corner raise his drink with a nod.

It's really amusing, frogposting was scolded upon by many people on /tg/ yet goblinposting is given a leeway lel.
>state of your LGS Old World Scene
Don't know. Don't care. I arrange games with my friends who play and we meet up because we aren't children nor are we manchildren who use the LGS as our daycare.
I wish I could do this but my friends who play Warhammer, and I've got like 6 of them, exclusively play 40k. Despite also being TW:W enjoyers they have 0 interest in playing any other game system. I refuse, though, to start collecting 40k.
Both stores have healthy stock left. Zero games played. It will all sell soon, but it's just scalpers and hoarders. Nobody dares play anything but 2000 point games of 40k, MtG, and a bit of Pokemon/Yugioh around here.
>What's the state of your LGS Old World Scene
There isn't one. My town's WHFB community switched to 9th age years ago and they have made it clear they've no intention of crawling back to GW after what they did.
The most interest I've seen local for TOW is a few people talking about how they were interested in picking up 1-2 Dwarf and/or Empire kits when they drop to use for Mordheim.
I've been busy and haven't been able to go in in a while, but talk on the store's discord seems that people are waiting for other armies to get released
>zero preorders >only sale so far is a rulebook that the owner made some fat frick who came in looking for Lorcana packs to scalp buy after he accidentally dumped a bottle of dr pepper on it >zero games played >only people who have even expressed interest in it are the furgay beastmen and skaven players that nobody else in the AoS group wants anything to do with
Would have been funny if you presented it as a meme but it's kind of pathetic that you find yourself in a state where you sit down and make all that shit up.

>What's the state of your LGS Old World Scene
only 40k is allowed at the FLGS for some reason but AoS/fantasy is fairly active despite it since they host games at community halls
Everyone on the flavour of the month train is still working on/starting playing with their LImp stuff. Earliest tables booked for TOW are end of next month. As it is the people that play anything other than just 40k are still playing the usual array of stuff like Star Wars Legion, various card/board games and such.
Problem is the hype train met reality and well, the game is just WHFB again. And WHFB just doesn't seem to be a game a lot of people here really want to play. Even for the people that used to play it 10, 20, 30 years ago. It's hitting some of them in the nostalgia bait but the time/cost investment for anyone not just grabbing an old army out of a cupboard or an AOS one pushed away a lot of people.
They've consistently trended towards playing games that they can finish in a couple of hours for years now, they simply don't have the time for big clunky battles due to everything else going on in their lives. And the truly grognardy grogs who do have time and money, well, they're playing other shit and don't care about modern GW products because they're off playing whatever at home.
In summary then: scene is small, enthusiastic but very visibly waning from pre-release. Will probably see games pop up over the year but no real sustained presence. Grogs will go back to playing grog games, AoS players will go back to AoS, and the system hoppers will continue to system hop endlessly.
Nobody cares about it at my store. The zoomies looked at the shitty skeletons and didn’t want to buy it. The total war secondaries who were shilling it never bought armies.
Game is dead on arrival. I have seen more games of Aeronautics Imperialis being played than TOW.
>the exciting brand new pushed game isn't getting as much attention on release, when all the spotlights are on it, as the obscure game that nobody played when it came out 5 years ago and has been on life support ever since
of the two that i have been to since one was sold out of everything but a tomb kings box and the other had about 7 of the large boxes set aside for preorders with only 2 on the shelves.
have yet to have a game, but i only game with my buddies.
My LGS already has regular games and is planning a league soon, though not surprising because apparently Spain had the 2nd biggest WHFB following after the UK
going by this YouTube video where they interview an FLGS the game lacks recruitment for bringing in new players and lacks incentive for them to purchase stock so outside of GW stores it may wither on the vine
This was an interesting video.
Really interested to hear the one about 10th edition.
Even the shill channels are whining I want to hear how shit it's doing business wise
going by the video it doing badly for LGS but good for GW stores due to TWW players interested in TOW but lacking the knowledge of local ifatructure that other GW customers have but we don't really know how long that will continue for TOW
I havent heard a peep from any of the thousands of members in any of my local stores, one store discord actually refused to make an old world/fantasy channel kek but I'll still be building an army
Disgusting amount of unpainted models. Shameful display. My gaming club has guys getting into the old world. Personally I'm not that enthusiastic about it, would rather stick to OPR.
Nightly games outperforming every other system, sometimes all systems combined.
There was a massive 3 day HH event this weekend and both Friday and Sunday got overrun by TOW games.
HH and AoS dominate the space outside of 40K. Also legion. These guys are the epitome of "play as fast as possible".
Mine it's 40k, HH, AoS, Kill Team and Battletech which all have their own dedicated nights.
Over 40 starter boxes sold on preorder, they had about 6 left in stock when I was there the day before yesterday, seems like it's selling well at least
Haven't seen a single game yet, still no ToW night as it's not popular enough to knock something else off
Ain't seen anyone play it, let alone heard of anyone who bought anything. Zero interest all around.
Haven't seen it but our whamhams scene is small
Not too much going on because there's a strong historicals scene and once people went to that from whfb originally, there was no going back, game quality is night and day better

All those AoS models at that tournament are fully painted though

Sold out in every game store near me on the first day

That's could be a good thing though, there should be competing rank and flank and element based games.
I should probably join some local gaming group but I have zero social media and know zero people irl who game. This is a problem
I've been busy and haven't been able to go in in a while, but talk on the store's discord seems that people are waiting for other armies to get released
Im the only one here that got baited into old world
Yep. Sorry anon. I was lucky enough to have my common sense kick in and remind me why I stopped playing Fantasy

Ashmen? More Wrath of kings figures?
What army even is that?
How do you pronounce grognard? Is the g silent?
Grog * nard
>(g)ro(g)nards
>(g)rognards
>gro(g)nards
>gogmagognards
If your wargaming is relegated to space marines or goblins you're not a fricking Grognard.
Okay.
What?
Requires zero elaboration.
>gayman spam
>can't even link rite
Requires knowing how to use the red memay arrows tourist.
I made a thread asking this a while back. Grogg-nard seems to be /tg/'s favourite. Gwonyahw is of course how you say it in French.

Nice.

Go kill those scaly pieces of shit you based maniac.
There are two wolves inside you:
>Bait thread pretending that Old World and Age of Sigmar are in conflict

The two wolves are not particularly well-made, and way too expensive; next time, you should just get 3rd party wolves.

We're starting a slow grow league, and we played some demo games over the past weekend. There's 5 of us
My LGS already has regular games and is planning a league soon, though not surprising because apparently Spain had the 2nd biggest WHFB following after the UK
Spain was the place where WFB was the most profitable for GW I'm surprised GW never tried to pander to Spanish more
>three pieces of terrain
>you can see it's five
>you still lie
It's clearly 5 but yes welcome to warhammer fantasy, where movement means you can't use terrain.
You say that as if any non-skirmish game didn't have a similar terrain layout.
I'm counting six
counting the trees as two pieces or the monster energy drink?
Seven!
