Pretty great but I really wished they didn't frick up 3 so badly
i don't quite like it. i can't bring myself to play it again after having done my first playthrough years ago when it came out
Most of it was alright.
Mr. X. final form looking like broken jaw with long finger bones looked moronic though. I hear there's a mod.
Back when it released
God tier
I thought Resident Evil was over for me, that it was all either first person going forward or back to superhero action like RE6
Now I think its a very solid entry but RE4 stands the test of time as the best.
Happy
I feel happy that the game exists
Bandwagon npc opinions, 7 and 8 were more RE than ANYTHING after Code Veronica and 4 was always a downgrade from 1-3.
no one cares about your shit takes
being "old game but way shittier" is not a good thing
7 and 8 certainly have you wander through houses collecting keys, just like old resident evil
they fricking blow though because the shooting is unengaging, ethan's magic invincible forearms let you block your way through everything and the environments are mostly setpiece fodder that aren't interesting to traverse
resident evil 4 has frick all to do with the old ones mechanically but it is still a good game. i would rather play a good game than a shit resident evil
"Still a good game" is no feat that any other shooter game can accomplish. A good RE game is a satisfying niche that almost NO other games provide. Halo is also a good game that has frick all to do with RE. The difference is the title "Halo" doesn't imply an RE experience. "RE4" does and fails to provide that. I'll take a metroidvania puzzle box design over boom boom shootbang any day.
Sewer section could be slightly longer.
Lab section is way too short.
>Sewer section could be slightly longer.
frick no
>Lab section is way too short.
agreed
Not a full replacement like REmake, not as good as 2. But still worth a playthrough.
If it had a real scenario A & B it would have been better than it is.
made me think they remembered how to make resident evil
then they released 3make and 8
so i was wrong
This game was cool when I first played through it, the appeal of a new version of RE2 (using the original soundtrack of course) was a real treat.
Going back to it? Fricking garbage bullshit. The design of everything has been dumbed down and cleaned up. Every change made to the world is uneccessary, I don't care if they wanted to make it "flow better", they absolutely ruined the design of this game with the remake.
Literally all they had to do was make it a 1 to 1 remake, you can even keep over-the-shoulder and how the game plays, but the design of everything? Scrap it, redo it, do it RIGHT, and don't cut any piece of content at all.
I've been playing it for about 45 minutes and I'm out of ammo. I have no idea what to do.
>I've been playing it for about 45 minutes and I'm out of ammo. I have no idea what to do.
They don't tell you this on your first play through.
Zombies are ammo sponges. They take 15-20 9mm shots to kill. You need to get comfortable with just running around zombies in open spaces.
Those sneaky bastards. I can't believe they gave all the zombies metal skulls.
And/or sneak
>They take 15-20 9mm shots to kill
>9mm
Just like in real life
they take like 3-5 most of the time, just don't frick up the reticle
Shoot them in the knees. Shooting at the head is not reliable in this game and will waste ammo as some zombies have very robust heads.
The itemization in the game caters to your health and ammo situation.
Maybe the guy in the morgue takes that much but your regular zombie shouldn't take that many shots, always aim for the head and wait for the reticle to focus, you can kill every zombie that way, if a zombie is on the floor you can kill it with the knife before it rises so long as you stay away from its head
I don't think so, only ammo drop amounts are based off of your rank, there's no random drops like in 4
Stop shooting everything that moves, board up the windows and run past the zombies. Just kill if they are in your way, just like in the original.
My honest opinion: 8/10
It's the second best of the nuRE games.
It's about on par with 1998 for me.
It's one of 3 Resident Evil games that I paid full price for. And it's one of two that I didn't regret doing that for.
It's good, I like it more than the original but I played it first so that's probably why, I still like the original but it's too easy, the atmosphere is better there though
S+ plus was so much fun getting
3 is more fun
Near-perfect ratio of exploration to combat. Maybe one too many boss encounter but those are of course series staple. Mr.X was cool at first but got boring soon, he was more irritating than intimidating and he couldn't enter many of the rooms.
RE3 remake was shockingly bad compared to this. Cautiously optimistic if they make a second remake of RE1 and hopefully will scale back the combat even more.
It's the only nu-REmake that isn't obnoxiously terrible. RE3&4makes are cringe.
Remake 4's combat is more dynamic and has a bigger move set and more challenging enemies. It's far more engaging than the repetitive crit shot -> melee from og.
RE4R dumbed the game down by making Leon more manuverable. Reloading in the OG was risky and tense, whereas it's a completely superfluous mechanic in the remake because you can run while doing so.
>dynamic
Wow, it's nothing. No, non-tank controls didn't improve anything.
>has a bigger move set
They added parry, from [3rd person action game released after Demon's Souls]. That's [positive adjective]!
>more challenging enemies.
More bs, honestly. Blitzing RE4 on Professional is more interesting than anything in 500,000 Consecutive Headshots Simulator.
Kino
solid entry with great gameplay and mostly excellent level design. Making the zombies dismemberable in exchange for nerfing headshots was genius. It's unfortunate about what they changed but on its own it's a solid 9/10
I like it when the trenchcoat man chases me.
Also lewd mods.
it looks really good but zombies are gross. why can't they make immersive adventures like that but not zombieslop
Conceptually fine but unfortunately the game is terrible. Zoomers have no standards and eat up any slop crapcom shits on their plate.
I loved it.
the HUNK missions were kino
I don't have the patience for baby puzzles and slow backtracking anymore. REmake 4 was better
Terrible remake but amazing for zoomers who heard the name RE2 and saw a couple streams of it and wanted to say they experienced it too
I liked it
LEON LOVE
MR X HATE
I didn't like the way Leon behaved in re2r (or more like, lack of; outside of going suspicious over Ada), but I am glad he is much better in re4r.
as its own game it was pretty good but as a direct remake to original kinda meh
Complete shit. It failed to accurately capture any aspect of the original, and I seethe silently everytime fans of this game b***h and moan about the remake of 3.
