I liked Sonic Battle back in the day. I know a lot of people today consider it grindy or something but I didn't mind back then because I didn't have thousands of games at my fingertips yet.
Sonic the Fighters is the better game since it’s more technical, Sonic Battle is alright but gets a bit too repetitive and doesn’t have much going for it and the fact that you can do one hit KO moves.
I've never heard sonic the fighters described as technical. It's a fun game with entertaining locations, animations and music but the actual gameplay is far from technical. I admit I've never played battle so maybe you are right.

And I was happy enough
I remember enjoying it more then than I do now that's for sure
It's weird to imagine Battle being grindy, but I guess if you never got a good run, heavy attack and special attack, then you'd have to pray RNG gave you something at a certain point.
Heroes of Might and Magic 3 with graphics and artsyle handled by Vanillaware and Mr. Romero doing the score obviously (with access to any instrument, musician or full orchestra)
>if my shitty indie game is successful i will make other shitty indie game platformer battler with nostalgic mascot characters
ask how he's getting ahead of himself and won't succeed in the first place
if some sonicgay announcing that he wants to make a spiritual successor to (old sega or nintendo game) is all it takes to impress you, i don't know what to say
>Encouraging someone to achieve their dreams is equivalent to being a dickrider now
lol, that anon wasn’t even being encouraging either. He was simply acknowledging the guy.
>i don't know what to say
More like you don't know how to read. Where in my post did you comprehend me being "impressed" by the OP tweet? You're weird as hell.
probably the part where you describe a mere idea as a "dream" as if the tweet conveyed that level of inspiration to you. anyway you type like a passive aggressive homosexual
NTA but now you're just being fricking pedantic, a dream in the context of "thing a person would like to achieve/create" IS a "mere idea" in that it's nothing more than a goal. and the passive aggressive bit is near-projection given you've implied the guy you're responding to has low standards. i'll never know why people like you feel the need to be constantly negative and off-putting

i'm only finding it funny because op is a literal who and "dude i love sega/nintendo man it would be awesome if i basically remade old game by them" is the most generic and rehashed idea/motivation in the gamedev community, it's like hearing somebody say they have "nerdy" hobbies and them saying they like watching marvel movies, you aren't unique or quirky
I cannot imagine anything more passive-aggressive than nitpicking diction like this, especially when 'dream' was used correctly as the dev in the OP clearly is not working on the game and has no plans beyond the fuzzy conception of what he wants (i.e. a "dream").
Either way you sound more bitter with each pointless post. I imagine you don't have any creative hobbies at all.
i have several creative hobbies which is exactly why i made that post, not that i'm sure you would understand what i'm getting at

Sonic battle was fun. I'd take a new one. I know two (2) people who played it. >me >my best friend
That's it. No one here played this. Just me and him!
This is how Splatoon started. No squids, no graphics, just an idea of a game where you claim ground and then use claimed ground to your advantage. Make a prototype that's fun to play and a rough outline of what you envision the style to be, and then you'll have a much easier time finding artists.
Most games probably start off with very simple placeholder graphics. Sometimes they never fully leave that stage.
This is why companies started making mascot games. Nintendo often used Jump Man sprites as a easy place holder, people noticed they kept using him, and eventually he got a name, lore, his own game series, and yet he still kept turning up as basically a placeholder in a bunch of games.
Honestly had no idea Splatoon started off like that. I only knew of pic related and rabbits.

Just want to hop into to this conversation to add that this is also why Nintendo has such a difficult time creating new IPs. They start with the gameplay first, and then they look for IPs that fit their prototype and proceed forward. The gameplay for Splatoon was unique but at the same time Miyamoto pushed them to create a unique mascot for the game and threatened them that if they didn't find a proper character design, they'd have to use Mario. Thankfully it came together with squids but apparently the developers didn't think about Mario Sunshine.
Speaking of which, how do we not have a Mario Sunshine 1 vs 4 type of mode in Splatoon with a guest Mario player?
you could go the cruelty squad route and make your game look shit on purpose but i won't play it then for me i just don't know how to compose music. i'd settle for ai chiptune music makers at this point
A co-operative heisting game similar to payday but with far more involved heists (for instance actual escape sequences where you have to drive through the city fending off cops/fly a chopper or pre-planning that completely changes how the heist is played). In addition there would be super heroes that would show up from time to throw a spanner in the works. It would have comic-book graphics similar to the original XIII game.
You find yourself an artist, go on somewhere like castingclub and hire an amateur art gay.
If I had money I'd pay Standing Stone Games to get actual fricking servers for DDO and LOTRO. Then I'd hire some UI designers to fix the UI that isn't designed for resolutions above 1080p.
Then I would buy the Ragnarok Online IP and just release a pre-renewal official server and hire a team to update the game further.
Just an old school grindy mmo that is designed to be a chatroom. No shitty cash shop, no fricking dailies and shit, just a hodge podge of runescape, ragnarok online, flyff and other old school grindy mmos, including pvp, and no fricking instances. Everything is multiplayer with others helping or bothering you. I would just make extra sure, that the casuals have fun/chill content to grind while the sweaty nerds have their giga fricking morono bosses they need stupid gear/strats to kill. And if we are talking stupid money, I would hire a team that has only 1 job. Throw events for players. Just every week some little event to look forward too and participate in.
Sadly I don't think that could ever work. Half the reason MMOs are shit is because of the games being shit, and the other half is the community being shit. You could make a "perfect" MMO but you can't recreate the state of the internet in the old days, nor can you pull casuals away from the fricking gacha games.
Rori game where you collect creatures and fight against real people. You play as cute customizable Roris with multiplayer mechanics added onto the main story to make armies and send them against other players
you wanna hear a funny thing. Most indie successful indie dev teams weren't built because one of them had money to hire the others. they were built because it was a circle of friends
yet again, its all about contacts and not exactly skill. you can have all the skill in the world but you still will never be able to be successful alone
American Persona (secretly a vehicle for my near-future fantasy story that's been molded in my head for 20 years)
Or just the ultimate customizable degenerate text-based sex sim game
8 gigs of RAM isn't a lot
If devs put the same effort into designing their engines for destruction as they did into getting photorealistic 8k textures of negress' facial pores we'd have good games.
Total War but it's my fantasy world (all of the females of every race are extremely large breasted and topless) and I get to add and remove stuff whenever I feel like it and it has collisions and crowd pathfinding that works
Elden Ring combat/exploration mixed with a more traditional high fantasy setting similar to Warcraft or Warhammer and class customization systems reliant on gear sets, weapon types, and talent trees that allow you to build in different directions (for example, you could build a pure fire damage mage, or a mixed fire mage/melee build, or a pure melee build).
You'd get to choose your faction (orc, elf, human, etc.) and the story would focus mainly on the war between the factions
A Saturn styled Sonic Robo Blast 2, but made by professional game developers with a decent budget and not autists or trannies who work for free. It would need good level design, actual enemy variety, with every level having its own unique badniks, and not have moronic enemy placement.
I wanted to make a zombie game.
The genre is survival, crafting.
The main objective is your character heard from the radio that there's a safe haven up north, and you need to travel to the location.
You need to gather resources and survive on your way there, and then you can either walk there or find out a way to fix a car and gas to travel to as far as you can.
Every time you reach a new place, either in the town, city or forest, you need to set up camp, scavenge, and prepare enough resources to make the next trip.
The game is too big for a solo dev unless I quit my job and spend the next 5-10 years working only on the game.
So if I had the money, I can just hire people to start working on it.
not as autistic as project zomboid though.
I don't want to focus on meaningless minor details.
Also, isn't there no objectives in project zomboid aside of scavenging your current map, hoarding and just survive?
>Also, isn't there no objectives in project zomboid aside of scavenging your current map, hoarding and just survive?
Yeah but that's what makes it a good survival game
Dragon Quest like game with Yugioh monsters/characters/settings. Falsebound Kingdom was kind of going that direction but I want more of a game like the Noah arc in the anime.
Action rpg game for fate stay night. Think like a spiderman, batman game but with fate. You can play as the masters and servants and roam fuyuki doing crazy shit. You can play all three routes, and have a ton of different characters/ stories you can play.
dragon ball z budokai tenkaichi 3 but with fairy tail. would love to play as tons of different wizards in a 3d arena fighter and especially if they get the original music from the anime.
A Desert Punk game inspired by MGS where you use your gadgets to trick and defeat enemies in fun and creative ways.
like idk, make it mission-based but with a shop where you can buy and upgrade your weapons and equipment between missions.
Oh and you should at the very least be able to play as Desert Punk, Kosuna, and their post timeskip counterparts. Also Mitsuru I guess, probably only his post-timeskip version. And give them costumes with different atributes, like a standard desert suit, no desert suit, bandit disguise, stealth suit, etc.
"Babby's first Fantasy WRPG/CRPG" with a Don Bluth-esque artstyle that fills the same "cliche-ridden, marketed to kids, but somehow soulful" niche as Dragon Quest does for JRPGs.
It's been an absolutely gaping void in the genre for like 30 years now.
>Semi-low fantasy medieval setting >Combat ripped directly from Nioh 2, but with more knight themed attacks as opposed to samurai >Autistic level of character customization, both in gameplay and visuals >Autistic level of equpment customization, both in gameplay and visuals >No fast travel, have to manually journey from point A to point B >Day night cycle, camping system that lets you interact with party members or skip the night with risk of monster or bandit attacks >Absolutely fricking enormous open world, would take multiple days irl to walk from one end to the other. Completely hand crafted, no procedural generation >Game takes place geographically in North America, just with feudal kingdoms and such. this would only be revealed after you've mapped out enough of the gamespace to see it
i'd make a fantasy rpg thats kind of like bg3 but you can go first person and it has a full melee combat system thats like a good version of mordhau. and the magic works kind of like a fighting game you have to input combos, or more like a hero shooter depending on magic class. i'd pump up the dating simulator aspect and general npc's with the worlds most secret bleeding edge AI to keep them feeling like real people. your chosen wife would be riding your dick in the VR system thats been enhanced by secret alien technology. good mods would be paid by me to keep them coming.
A new class based multiplayer shooter that has larger team sizes than 5v5 and support for custom maps and game modes.
I'm just tried of all this competitive hero shooter slop, why must every game attempt to copy OW's success?
They literally made it twice, only on source, I saw someone remake TF2's movement code in Godot and Unreal engine. They have to sell few hats and they are set with a small team.
Oh boy, at first I was thinking Prison Architect but dark, but you know what would be cooler? Frostpunk.
It'd 100% have to be not-Auschwitz in not-Germany, sure, but it'd have all the mechanics of Frostpunk. Maybe two opposing campaigns, one for keeping the prisoners in while everything goes to shit in/around the camp and one for managing the prisoners and keeping as many alive as possible until everyone can escape or not-WW2 is over.

whats your "if i had the money" game?
I'd start by using my infinite money to anonymously buy out Blizzard, fire everyone, secretly blacklist the higher-ups at Blizzard from the industry with various fake/real controversies, then have them slowly get assassinated over the course of about a decade, forgotten.
After that, restart Blizzard as its own entity, rehire all the old staff whenever possible/viable, then retconning Diablo 3/4 and rebooting/remastering 1/2 to have the world, lore, artstyle and overall feel of the OG Diablo 1/2, but with Last Epoch's style of class+skill trees. Movement via click to move or WASD.
Online is possible, and crossplay.
Sizable expansions release over time, each with at least one class.
Palette setting to adjust how grimdark the game is/isn't. Probably presets and a custom option.
If the money isn't completely limitless: >GaaS hub full of all the usual battlepass/event shit, but 90% of it is cosmetic, or more in-game currency/item stuff There IS a singleplayer/offline mode, but you can't enter the hub at all >tons of cosmetics, but categorized into three categories based on how well they fit the setting. Players can toggle the latter two categories off if they want, but the way the game shows the setting emphasizes that the middle option is generally fine and should probably be left on >once the game's beaten, any player can skip about half the game's levels for free, but skipping to the max level costs money
Something like digimon world but on a bigger scale. I like the idea of being based in the real world and raising your monster as a vpet and time advancing quickly due to going through persona/dating sim routines so your monster grows up fairly quickly in real time and then entering the digimon world where you can now run around in dungeons and see your monster as something other than a 2d sprite.
There would be different humans also raising digimon beholden to the same rules as yours so sometimes you'd be able to bring them along to the digimon world with you as party members and sometimes you wouldn't depending on your friendship or their life routine or whether they currently had a good monster or not. So you'd have to mix and match your party members and sometimes context specific quests would happen depending on who you brought with you
I'd make a game that was just an expanded City Trial from Kirby's Air Ride that extends the concept without any of the hangups Smash Run did.
Maybe not even a racing game, just a battle royale where you dick around a map full of mario party bullshit, improve your own stats and abilities, and grief other players for 5-7 minutes before getting thrust into a random set of mini games that benefit different stat builds to determine an over all winner.
>FF7, as it looked in the PS3 tech demo, but with faster animations for combat, not nearly as much back tracking for Fort Condor, and the handful of scenes are tweaked to flow better (inb4 RE, RE didn't do any of this in the slightest >Smash Ultimate, with 1 stage per character, ditch all echoes except lucina, make dr mario an alt, also ditch pichu, snake, simon, richter, incineroar, joker, hero, bk, steve, sephiroth, and sora. Add geno, mallow, mew, knuckles, metal sonic, and dante. Bring back missing modes, including smash run >soul calibur 2 remaster, with other version characters as dlc, like in sc4 >ddr, but all home and arcade tracks pre-ace >MvC4 back to sprites, back to a 50/50 roster, and marvel half isn't a platform to shill mcu, but a thoughtful roster, with no plot shit like infinite >Pokemon, but able to travel to any region 1-4, purging most of gen 5 onwards, but keeping regional variants
I got ideas, but most aren't popular
a dark souls game, but armor and weapons would have an awesome feature instead of just switching them. (can't say what cause people would steal my awesome idea)
I'd make a brutal life simulator in the city where the amount of crime and shit happening is exaggerated to a comical degree with you and other people constantly dealing with it, or maybe even partaking in it to make ends meets You'd be trying to find and work odd jobs to scrape up enough money to make rent or pay off some dumbass debt while fighting off buttholes in the streets trying to mug you for your money and get through all sorts of random events taking place. It'd be like if Degrees of Lewdity wasn't just a text game without the porn with obvious modding tools to have it with the porn. The game would never sell and I'd probably just overdose it with so many bullshit mechanics that it'd drive away anyone who'd play it, but it'd be the game I'd want to play.
sonic battle was a cool idea and im glad they tried it.
if you can make a game just like sonic battle and avoid its two biggest problems, you will make money.
1) emerl needs to be able to recycle duplicate abilities to get brand new ones
2) the story mode should be made less cancerous and just fricking proceed when you beat a challenge, instead of making you do every fight in the game twice.
this but an actually new megaman series that goes even further with the metroidvania design inspirations.
hell, make it a full-blown fantasy-inspired 2D megaman game with RPG elements where you find weapons and armor to equip and essentially build your ZX "transformation".
You both reminded me of another:
Forces, but not ass.
I liked the idea of a customizable player character in Forces, though it was way underbaked.
My ideas:
1. Sonic Adventure 3 >plays like SA2 >yes, a Chao Garden but less fricked and more tied into the actual game with goodies earned in the garden for the main game and vice versa >maybe light and dark stories again >instead of the obligatory Classic Sonic for the 99999th time, make it be the player character, customizable again, maybe you just get inserted throughout the game or you're in the rotation if there's a rotation >the PC's customization is a bit more controlled, shops to buy clothes, body sliders. Probably no Wispons, maybe you just pick a "style" based on a character, like playing like Sonic or playing like Tails or whatever. Set levels at first, but maybe you can replace a character's position after you've beaten a level >huge collectathon, a bazillion collectables >obligatory inclusions of random fan-favorite characters or just name-drops
2. A Sonic RPG to make up for Chronicles being awful >RPG again, not turn-based >not made by Bioware >probably made by a curaaaaazy dev, some flashy Japanese one or something >simple skill trees, probably themed after the speed/power/tech triangle >open world mainly used like a "world map" with locations to run to >IDFK, I just like the idea of a Sonic game getting another chance at an RPG spinoff that doesn't suck ass >hell, maybe it's an RPG where you play as Buddy and customize Buddy, but the Sonic team are the rest of your party and they're often with you (protecting you), often way stronger than you (until you near the end of the game), rotating in and out as the story progresses >actually good music
this but on pc, reskinned to not have to deal with nintendo homosexualry, slightly refined mechanics, and a more robust season mode with more rpg-ish development stuff. I still can't believe some throwaway shovelware is one of the best arcadey baseball games ever
Digimon sandbox game where you play as a Digimon and changing to different forms completely changes the scope and playstyle of the character. Sometimes to your inconvenience as larger character can't enter doors or interact as easily.
I have three, my trinity of games that I played as a child or teenager and really enjoyed, but which ended on a cliffhanger.
Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy 2
Not sure why this one died.
Metal Arms: A Glitch in the System 2
Blizzard raped the studio with their incompetence.
Timeshift 2
THQ died or something, I can't remember.
I will team up with you on this but there has to be a morality system and the Magical girls are analogues for vtubers, with the "morality" system being authenticity to either their "indie" or "corpo" persona and fans.
I'd need at least 1 billion to make my dream game so it's just not happening. And even that sum of money might only be enough for it to become a half-assed turd like Todd's dream game (Shartfield)
It's a sort of everything-game, that's why all the big games tend to focus on just one genre. >you play as an immortal vampire >experience human history from the ancient ages to near-future >can go into hibernation to skip to the part of history you want to experience >can be played as both 1st person and 3rd person >good melee combat, good gun combat, good driving physics, good flight system >settlements rise and fall in the large open world, as history progresses they turn into citystates and then nations
It would not only be way too expensive but also require a better computer to play than any we have available now
A Pokemon-esque MMO where you play as a wizard backpacking through dangerous wilderness. You'd cast spells to capture creatures and then to aid them in combat and the further you get from civilization the more dangerous it becomes
1. a first person shooter deck builder, you run around with cards in your hands like gambit. it'd play like slay the spire without the 2d turn-based stuff.
2. a us farming sim pre-emancipation proclamation, it's like stardew valley and pokemon but with Black folk and slave trade.
I've always wanted to make a Donald Duck beat em up in the style of guardian heroes, Undercover Cops, and Guardians: Denjinmakai II.
It would be in the world of Duckburg (the Barks/Rosa version) and you can play as Donald, Scrooge, Huey Luey and Duey, Gladstone, and more. Obviously you would fight against the beagle boys, and Magica De Spell. You can even have Witch Hazel and Humphrey the Bear as recurring mini bosses.
i'd make the driving equivalent of microsoft flight simulator. i'd hire musicians to craft hours and hours of playlists catering to all kinds of driving vibes. it'd be great.
Not quite my dream game but if I wanted to make something that would print money it would be Animal Crossing meets Fate Stay Night. With the villagers being Servants.
My dream game would be a proper MG 1 and 2 remake or a real sequel to KOTOR 2
A Heavily DMC-Inspired Character Action Game set in the Avatar: the Last Airbender universe, where you basically replay through the original series with thr original Cast, with the Main Characters learning new Bending styles (i.E.Fallen Prince Style, Blue Spirit Style and finaly Dancing Dragon Style for Zuko) as the game goes on, which can be changed at certain points of the game like dmc3, while Aang will learn the elements which can be changed freely like in dmc 4/5 (and obviously will have a Devil Trigger like super button)
It shall also have a special edition, where you replay all Missions with Avatar Kyoshi, just like Itsuno intended
Siege clone
There was an indie game, don't remember the name, sadly it had very little eestruction, but they had a great mechanics for equipment betwen rounds. Defenders got weapons every round but attackers had a van of equipment they got to pick from that was persistent between rounds. That was really cool, they had to think how much to commit each round and when, because if you wipe 0-5 and everyone got nvgs, now the defenders got nvgs and they'll kill the lights every round. Or the defenders could loot a clacker and blow attack's explosives prematurely.
First person rpg set in Tekumel from the empire of the petal throne PnP rpg setting
MMO set in Glorantha during the second age (empire of wyrm friends vs godlearners, with expansions for playing Orlanthi and besieging the clanking city of Zistorwal)
An RTwP CRPG where your party has a LoL inspired moveset with bullshit combos, dashes and general cancer broken mechanics only you can have all the fun you want without other players to piss off
A blending of Zoo Tycoon and RTS. Every animal, food stall and attraction serves a secondary purpose as units and defensive structures for when you get invaded.
Open Source RTS engine with built in super easy scripting language and state of the art UI framework.
Why it isn't a thing? People would make so much cool shit with it.
Isometric RPGs, adventure games, homegrown MOBAs, survival games like don't starve, Diablo clones, tower defense games and whatever the frick brand new genres they invented.
I've always wanted to play a way of the samurai game on the scale of a mount and blade map where you can go from province to province and get involved in plotlines to overthrow the government or investigate rumours of a killer ghost, or find a missing cat or something. Actually now that I think about it I can probably just make that on my own.
Id just make a final fantasy full of beautiful art and a story where magic is created by both very pure and very corrupt emotions, so that Good and evil naturally battle each other, and corruption and redemption is a mechanic, because real evil is actually the type in the middle, with no magic, that seeks to control both forces
>this game but... but better and with more game in it!!! >like this game but... but anime, and kinda like that game too
Boy am I glad all of you will always just daydream and never make an actual videogame.
I won't share my actual good ideas with Ganker. I did once and regreted it because of how easy it would have been for someone to make.
I am just lazy and I enjoy daydreaming about video games. Currently I have 5 different games I am developing in my head.
Pick a weapon and your spells and your familiar and just beat up magical monsters.
Look man I just watch Nanoha and holy frick the magic weapons in there are cool
>buy Ultima license from under EA's sweaty, negligent armpit >WE'RE REBOOTING IT >you are isekaid into an eerily placid Britannia summoned by a voice pleading for help >everything is reset to beginning of Ultima IV timeline >"Go master the virtues and become the avatar" >open world realtime action RPG with emphasis on systems and simulation (NPC schedules, celestial movements, moongate rotations) and quests that utilize them heavily >quest to become avatar underlined with sinister unease, something isn't right in Britannia >typical shrine and dungeon completion deviates into finding the source of the voice >pic related >surprise this is a soft reboot, Ultima 8 onward were the dream hellscape of the Guardian imprisoning the Avatar in Avalon esque stasis >the guardian has already conquered britannia and subjugated its people and this is a cruel puppet show put on to thwart the Avatar's last ditch effort >torch passes to you to save Britannia >next game is Ultima IX but not shit, where you're going around a conquered Britannia trying to wake up its inhabitants
And you of course milk brownie points by tossing Garriott and obligatory voice cameo (but absolutely no part in the design or direction because he's a certified moron now)
Turn an old multiplayer DOOM mod, All Out War 2, into a standalone sequel a la Team Fortress
tl;dr it was an attack the fort game taking heavy inspiration from Command & Conquer, like a bizarro MOBA where teams of up to 16 tried infiltrating and destroying the buildings in each other's base to cripple and eventually destroy them. Lot of classes but each time you picked one you had to purchase it (a couple were free), there were harvesting spots on the map where players could farm materials to make into currency for all players, research upgrades that benefitted all players etc. There were infantry classes, stealth classes, dedicated harvesters, engineers to build base defenses, the works. Some maps even had vehicles/mechs you could buy
Never found anything like it and the mod is long dead, I miss it a lot
if i had the money, would make a rune factory x phantasy star online.
it would take place in ragol pioneer 1, trying to
tame the system, and finding out new types of
plants and fruit, and what works and don't.
with each race having cons and pros, and different climates, along side anemies and boss battles.
also helping the new founded town to prosper.
sonicgays only care about sonic
so you have the option to make a fangame and get some social media praise, or make an actual game and get 0 attention from the sonic autists
I would make a kid icarus uprising but with a titanfall/armored core mech segments instead of flying, I want the writing of kid icarus and the cheese of every parody game mushed into one, and the mechs have to actually have weight behind their actions. There would be multiple storylines for different perspectives and a crafting system with way more choices of combos.
Maybe a picrel for the mech segments and instead of leaving the mech you just start ground combat while also still in the mech.
The Ayre bossfight has permanently damaged my brain chemistry when flying mechs are involved
A mix of Tokyo Xtreme Racer and Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift where you can race both on touges and highways, maybe throwing some rally stages and circuits as extra
Wide open world (city scale, no cars for you but developed public transport) social stealth game, playing a delivery guy in a post-internet society, delivering packets of data to important people. Blending in, not raising suspicion, avoiding danger, picking your path commuting (with decision making, sometimes for speed, sometimes to get someone off your tail or lead them somewhere, sometimes just to explore). Guns are rare, but you are no superhero, stay out of trouble. You can read the cards you deliver to piece together the overarching storyline, pick sides, intentionally destroy, misdeliver or distribute the data to influence the story, just don't get caught. Would be an insanely expensive project because of how content-rich and deep it would have to be to satisfy my dream, Kojima-tier budgets, and probably the same kind of lukewarm reaction as Death Stranding.
absolutely would wanna make a game like the Legacy of Goku series but with actually good melee combat and level up systems with abilities akin to other ARPGs
I liked Sonic Battle back in the day. I know a lot of people today consider it grindy or something but I didn't mind back then because I didn't have thousands of games at my fingertips yet.
I should replay it.
Sonic Battle is good. It's the best Sonic RPG we ever got
It was only grindy in the fact that unlocking every skill in the game was based on RNG, and you got nothing to offset getting duplicates
Sonic the Fighters is the better game since it’s more technical, Sonic Battle is alright but gets a bit too repetitive and doesn’t have much going for it and the fact that you can do one hit KO moves.
Regardless I still liked it as a kid too
I've never heard sonic the fighters described as technical. It's a fun game with entertaining locations, animations and music but the actual gameplay is far from technical. I admit I've never played battle so maybe you are right.

I remember enjoying it more then than I do now that's for sure
It's weird to imagine Battle being grindy, but I guess if you never got a good run, heavy attack and special attack, then you'd have to pray RNG gave you something at a certain point.
Big O mashup of Arkham game gameplay for the Roger segments and hot mech action for the mech battles.
And we fix the ending.
That sounds rad.
kinda curious, how would you fix the ending?
fix Big O: second part never happens. keep doing the part people like (batman TAS with mechs)
fricking hell man i'd play it.
>fix the ending
it was perfect. you just got filtered by entry level Konaka writing
Heroes of Might and Magic 3 with graphics and artsyle handled by Vanillaware and Mr. Romero doing the score obviously (with access to any instrument, musician or full orchestra)
Im preordering this hypethetical game right now.
a rpg where you dont kill god
How does this differ from the other 99% of rpgs that aren't SMT
Nor any godlike or otherwise deific enemies.
phantasy star online like it was in 2000
but on mobile phones
and no gachashit involved just cosmetics
An adaption of the 1960s tv show "The Prisoner" that plays like GTA or RDR.
Do you still think a big balloon would stop people?
Shut up! That's why!
>if my shitty indie game is successful i will make other shitty indie game platformer battler with nostalgic mascot characters
ask how he's getting ahead of himself and won't succeed in the first place
Damn. You see one homie with a dream and you shit all over it for no reason. You are one miserable pitiable dog.
if some sonicgay announcing that he wants to make a spiritual successor to (old sega or nintendo game) is all it takes to impress you, i don't know what to say
NTA but now you're just being fricking pedantic, a dream in the context of "thing a person would like to achieve/create" IS a "mere idea" in that it's nothing more than a goal. and the passive aggressive bit is near-projection given you've implied the guy you're responding to has low standards. i'll never know why people like you feel the need to be constantly negative and off-putting
i'm only finding it funny because op is a literal who and "dude i love sega/nintendo man it would be awesome if i basically remade old game by them" is the most generic and rehashed idea/motivation in the gamedev community, it's like hearing somebody say they have "nerdy" hobbies and them saying they like watching marvel movies, you aren't unique or quirky
i have several creative hobbies which is exactly why i made that post, not that i'm sure you would understand what i'm getting at
so you're a crab in a bucket?
I cannot imagine anything more passive-aggressive than nitpicking diction like this, especially when 'dream' was used correctly as the dev in the OP clearly is not working on the game and has no plans beyond the fuzzy conception of what he wants (i.e. a "dream").
Either way you sound more bitter with each pointless post. I imagine you don't have any creative hobbies at all.
But I never let it get me down
because this great big ol' world keeps spinnin around
based. frick negative nancy homosexuals. then they wonder where the quality of the bord went
woof woof
moron
No
comfy slice of life game like shenmue and persona without the combat where you just hang out and date cute girls
Lufia 2 remake that is actually good, and then a 4th game in the main franchise based on the ruins chaser ideas.
1980s mercenary/soldier of fortune base simulator and strategy game. Basically what MGSV failed to deliver.
Sonic battle was fun. I'd take a new one. I know two (2) people who played it.
>me
>my best friend
That's it. No one here played this. Just me and him!
>The only thing I’m good at is coding
How the hell do I do gamedev if I can’t do artgay shit 🙁
use public domain assets, or find an artist, or just say frick it and throw in your shitty ms paint scribbles
Learn 3d. Blender is piss easy and everything you could ever want to do is tutorialized a million times over on Youtube.
Find an artist, there are billions of talented artists on instagram and twitter.
How does one find an artist that has professionalism when it comes to work and isn’t some overly sensitive twitter schizo
Literally every artist is schizo
Tamers12345 isn't a schizo
coding is the hard part
This is how Splatoon started. No squids, no graphics, just an idea of a game where you claim ground and then use claimed ground to your advantage. Make a prototype that's fun to play and a rough outline of what you envision the style to be, and then you'll have a much easier time finding artists.
Honestly had no idea Splatoon started off like that. I only knew of pic related and rabbits.
I don't think they casually forgot about mario sunshine, my guess is that they wanted to make their own thing.
I'm stupid. Japanese games have "tofu" characters, because the character placeholder during development is just elongated cube.
you could go the cruelty squad route and make your game look shit on purpose but i won't play it then for me i just don't know how to compose music. i'd settle for ai chiptune music makers at this point
code your own artist AI, cmon pointdexter
code some wacky effects and spinning colorful bullshit
Then I would buy the Ragnarok Online IP and just release a pre-renewal official server and hire a team to update the game further.
complete the ragnarok manhwa while youre at it
Sega you bastards have him evolve
Bumpy Trot 2 if the devs weren't swept out to sea.
Runescape grind and leveling combined with lost arc combat
Rori game where you collect creatures and fight against real people. You play as cute customizable Roris with multiplayer mechanics added onto the main story to make armies and send them against other players
you wanna hear a funny thing. Most indie successful indie dev teams weren't built because one of them had money to hire the others. they were built because it was a circle of friends
yet again, its all about contacts and not exactly skill. you can have all the skill in the world but you still will never be able to be successful alone
I would just made Spore 2 and as well a proper spiritual successor of Minecraft that takes from Create and Farmer's Delight mods.
Valkyria Chronicles Cold War game set in not-Korea with an aerial combat layer above the battlefield.
American Persona (secretly a vehicle for my near-future fantasy story that's been molded in my head for 20 years)
Or just the ultimate customizable degenerate text-based sex sim game
>whats your "if i had the money" game?
A Sonic Battle spiritual successor, but mine will actually be good since I'm not a troony.
Prototype/ultimate destruction. Environmental destruction has dried up cause muh grapix
Isn't the Criware engine widely available? The engine specifically built to do 3D environmental destruction?
most games are requiring 8 gigs of ram just to run on the absolute lowest settings these days, environmental destruction would cause fires
A dating sim RPG with a two character party and a huge emphasis on teamwork.
Picrel but with all the content released up to date
re4 like but with melee weapons
Capcom vs SNK 3 but the graphics made by ArcSys.
You don't need money to make good Sonic games. Well fangames anyway.
So project zomboid but you're lazy
not as autistic as project zomboid though.
>Yeah but that's what makes it a good survival game
Let's just agree to disagree
Crystal Chronicles remake on the Wii U. Would have made more sense since they could have had the 3DS be extra controllers.
Frick off, you're not stealing my idea.
I said it in one thread before awhile back, but if I had the money and resources I would have a Platinum games style Pop-eye beat em up.
Final Fantasy Tactics roguelite.
shmup where you're a sperm trying to knock up a girl and dodging shit to not die
Combat racing battle royale
make it a redline game
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2078450/Warhammer_40000_Speed_Freeks/
Genshin-like game minus the gacha and with a skip button
dragon ball z budokai tenkaichi 3 but with fairy tail. would love to play as tons of different wizards in a 3d arena fighter and especially if they get the original music from the anime.
If I had money I'd spend it on gacha instead tbdesu
I do have money and I spend it on gacha. I'll dedicate my next purchase to you anon.
Spend it on blue archive
>Semi-low fantasy medieval setting
>Combat ripped directly from Nioh 2, but with more knight themed attacks as opposed to samurai
>Autistic level of character customization, both in gameplay and visuals
>Autistic level of equpment customization, both in gameplay and visuals
>No fast travel, have to manually journey from point A to point B
>Day night cycle, camping system that lets you interact with party members or skip the night with risk of monster or bandit attacks
>Absolutely fricking enormous open world, would take multiple days irl to walk from one end to the other. Completely hand crafted, no procedural generation
>Game takes place geographically in North America, just with feudal kingdoms and such. this would only be revealed after you've mapped out enough of the gamespace to see it
i'd make a fantasy rpg thats kind of like bg3 but you can go first person and it has a full melee combat system thats like a good version of mordhau. and the magic works kind of like a fighting game you have to input combos, or more like a hero shooter depending on magic class. i'd pump up the dating simulator aspect and general npc's with the worlds most secret bleeding edge AI to keep them feeling like real people. your chosen wife would be riding your dick in the VR system thats been enhanced by secret alien technology. good mods would be paid by me to keep them coming.
A new class based multiplayer shooter that has larger team sizes than 5v5 and support for custom maps and game modes.
I'm just tried of all this competitive hero shooter slop, why must every game attempt to copy OW's success?
So, team fortress 3?
Why isn't this a thing? Honestly, the TF2 community has skill and funds to make it happen.
>the TF2 community has skill and funds to make it happen
They literally made it twice, only on source, I saw someone remake TF2's movement code in Godot and Unreal engine. They have to sell few hats and they are set with a small team.
>tfw havent worked on my game in like 2 years
at least you managed to start. I have a fighting game I wanted to make for years now with zero actual progress made into the actual game.
i made 3 shitty games in gamemaker. its too tedious and hard for a procrastinating loner such as I
Auschwitz simulator.
>Makes fun of other people's dreams without putting his up front
*shrugs*
Ace Attorney Investigations-like murder mystery series but with gay furries
go back, troon
Oh boy, at first I was thinking Prison Architect but dark, but you know what would be cooler? Frostpunk.
It'd 100% have to be not-Auschwitz in not-Germany, sure, but it'd have all the mechanics of Frostpunk. Maybe two opposing campaigns, one for keeping the prisoners in while everything goes to shit in/around the camp and one for managing the prisoners and keeping as many alive as possible until everyone can escape or not-WW2 is over.
If the money isn't completely limitless:
>GaaS hub full of all the usual battlepass/event shit, but 90% of it is cosmetic, or more in-game currency/item stuff There IS a singleplayer/offline mode, but you can't enter the hub at all
>tons of cosmetics, but categorized into three categories based on how well they fit the setting. Players can toggle the latter two categories off if they want, but the way the game shows the setting emphasizes that the middle option is generally fine and should probably be left on
>once the game's beaten, any player can skip about half the game's levels for free, but skipping to the max level costs money
You could probably unironically get government grants for that if you pitch it as an educational game
Modern setting Tales-like semi-ARPG on the GBA
>031.jpg
>le wholesome reddit reaction image to pwn le chuds
So you'd have to mix and match your party members and sometimes context specific quests would happen depending on who you brought with you
A direct sequel to bully with jimmy hopkins returning as protagonist. If what I saw on YouTube is true dan houser already has a script for it.
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom remaster that combines the two versions into a single game, with an additional Capcom character to balance out the roster.
Trillion series where it does the rest of the sins.
I wish it didn't sell like shit.
1999 demon war Castlevania
>FF7, as it looked in the PS3 tech demo, but with faster animations for combat, not nearly as much back tracking for Fort Condor, and the handful of scenes are tweaked to flow better (inb4 RE, RE didn't do any of this in the slightest
>Smash Ultimate, with 1 stage per character, ditch all echoes except lucina, make dr mario an alt, also ditch pichu, snake, simon, richter, incineroar, joker, hero, bk, steve, sephiroth, and sora. Add geno, mallow, mew, knuckles, metal sonic, and dante. Bring back missing modes, including smash run
>soul calibur 2 remaster, with other version characters as dlc, like in sc4
>ddr, but all home and arcade tracks pre-ace
>MvC4 back to sprites, back to a 50/50 roster, and marvel half isn't a platform to shill mcu, but a thoughtful roster, with no plot shit like infinite
>Pokemon, but able to travel to any region 1-4, purging most of gen 5 onwards, but keeping regional variants
I got ideas, but most aren't popular
Xenogears and Xenosaga with no cuts in HD, still turn based.
New Breath of Fire(still turn based)
Pokemon is now under the management of Monolith.
a dark souls game, but armor and weapons would have an awesome feature instead of just switching them. (can't say what cause people would steal my awesome idea)
Kamen Rider meets Yakuza with something like the nemesis system for MOTWs/Generals running away
Kirby Air Ride 2 b***h
>Hey, fans of this game, if my career is a success, I'll make a game that is a good version of the game you like, which is total trash btw.
???
you must be autistic if thats what you got out of that
pretty much everyone agrees that sonic battle is too grindy and lacks a bit of depth
A Fire Emblem Heroes RPG maker game.
Just so I can see eroge with good gameplay (based on FEH)
ZX3
this but an actually new megaman series that goes even further with the metroidvania design inspirations.
hell, make it a full-blown fantasy-inspired 2D megaman game with RPG elements where you find weapons and armor to equip and essentially build your ZX "transformation".
A sequel to Shadow Over Mystara.
Is it true that this game started as a DBZ pitch because it was always weird the fricking Sonic characters fought like it was DBZ.
anon, sonic is dbz
You both reminded me of another:
Forces, but not ass.
I liked the idea of a customizable player character in Forces, though it was way underbaked.
My ideas:
1. Sonic Adventure 3
>plays like SA2
>yes, a Chao Garden but less fricked and more tied into the actual game with goodies earned in the garden for the main game and vice versa
>maybe light and dark stories again
>instead of the obligatory Classic Sonic for the 99999th time, make it be the player character, customizable again, maybe you just get inserted throughout the game or you're in the rotation if there's a rotation
>the PC's customization is a bit more controlled, shops to buy clothes, body sliders. Probably no Wispons, maybe you just pick a "style" based on a character, like playing like Sonic or playing like Tails or whatever. Set levels at first, but maybe you can replace a character's position after you've beaten a level
>huge collectathon, a bazillion collectables
>obligatory inclusions of random fan-favorite characters or just name-drops
2. A Sonic RPG to make up for Chronicles being awful
>RPG again, not turn-based
>not made by Bioware
>probably made by a curaaaaazy dev, some flashy Japanese one or something
>simple skill trees, probably themed after the speed/power/tech triangle
>open world mainly used like a "world map" with locations to run to
>IDFK, I just like the idea of a Sonic game getting another chance at an RPG spinoff that doesn't suck ass
>hell, maybe it's an RPG where you play as Buddy and customize Buddy, but the Sonic team are the rest of your party and they're often with you (protecting you), often way stronger than you (until you near the end of the game), rotating in and out as the story progresses
>actually good music
>1. Sonic Adventure 3
like SA2
SA1 had better movement.
growing up is realizing no one likes games they just like licensed characters
VR .Hack// MMO
this but on pc, reskinned to not have to deal with nintendo homosexualry, slightly refined mechanics, and a more robust season mode with more rpg-ish development stuff. I still can't believe some throwaway shovelware is one of the best arcadey baseball games ever
I'd make an online cardbattler with Lost Kingdoms' combat.
Digimon sandbox game where you play as a Digimon and changing to different forms completely changes the scope and playstyle of the character. Sometimes to your inconvenience as larger character can't enter doors or interact as easily.
Just straight up rip off Kirby Air Ride City Trial but with
>Multiple Cities
>Customizable Player Avatars
diablo dungeon crawling and grimdark atmosphere
fear and hunger's extra grimdark atmosphere
dark souls style gameplay
basically, I want a very dark and hopeless video game with good gameplay.
Pokemon Conquest 2 but roster with mons up to gen 9 and gameplay ala Mario+Rabbids.
I'm a simple man
I have three, my trinity of games that I played as a child or teenager and really enjoyed, but which ended on a cliffhanger.
Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy 2
Not sure why this one died.
Metal Arms: A Glitch in the System 2
Blizzard raped the studio with their incompetence.
Timeshift 2
THQ died or something, I can't remember.
Advance Wars style turn based tactics based on the Pokemon X/Y referenced war.
A game like Monster Hunter but you try to tame them by brushing them while they fight you and then you breed with them.
3D action magical girl game that focuses on fast movement and fighting xbox hueg bosses. Has open city exploration.
I will team up with you on this but there has to be a morality system and the Magical girls are analogues for vtubers, with the "morality" system being authenticity to either their "indie" or "corpo" persona and fans.
>A morality system wasn't my intention but I guess that could get worked in somehow
>Open spoiler
You're off the team
Punk vs Straitlaced is more compelling than straight up good vs evil! A girl's heart is a complex thing!
to put it another way, it'd be like sonic unleashed where she moonlights as a witchy-er flavor of magical girl.
I don't have money, but it's not stopping me from making it.
Basically infamous but with good (read "CUHRAYZEE") melee combat.
Sonic Battle was good tho?
A remake would be just Power Stone 3
Black & White 3, with VR support.
>whats your "if i had the money" game?
I loved Sonic Battle but if people actually tried to play the PvP competitively the move banlist would end up being massive
Nobody likes Sonic Battle, is a okay game, but no more.
If a GBA game need 2 or more cable links in multiplayer is painful garbage
I'd need at least 1 billion to make my dream game so it's just not happening. And even that sum of money might only be enough for it to become a half-assed turd like Todd's dream game (Shartfield)
what game could possibly cost a billion outright?
A not-shit GTA I guess.
It's a sort of everything-game, that's why all the big games tend to focus on just one genre.
>you play as an immortal vampire
>experience human history from the ancient ages to near-future
>can go into hibernation to skip to the part of history you want to experience
>can be played as both 1st person and 3rd person
>good melee combat, good gun combat, good driving physics, good flight system
>settlements rise and fall in the large open world, as history progresses they turn into citystates and then nations
It would not only be way too expensive but also require a better computer to play than any we have available now
This is insane and moronic
nah you can use source engine for 1st and 3rd person easily
How so? Because it would take so much money to fund? I've already mentioned that twice. I know it's not going to happen but it's my dream game.
There is no need to spend $1B on this. Sounds like you just want to animate all of history of the world.
0.7 billion and counting.
FF7 "actual fricking remake"
Donkey Kong Jr. 2
mega man legends 3 on AAA budget also a 3d Mega man X9
twisted metal battle royale. go ahead and steal my idea, cant believe it hasnt even been attempted yet.
>twisted metal battle royale
how would endings work. half the fun of twisted metal is the crazy endings
Sid Meier's Pirates again.
Ya but uncharted waters for me.
Conkers bad fur day two.
Class of 09 with jecka as MC, and college years sequel.
Conker’s Other Bad Day never-ever.
GTA West Country
Bully 2, with female protagonist
A Pokemon-esque MMO where you play as a wizard backpacking through dangerous wilderness. You'd cast spells to capture creatures and then to aid them in combat and the further you get from civilization the more dangerous it becomes
Rouge porn game
Maybe add another female Sonic characters in it
got two:
1. a first person shooter deck builder, you run around with cards in your hands like gambit. it'd play like slay the spire without the 2d turn-based stuff.
2. a us farming sim pre-emancipation proclamation, it's like stardew valley and pokemon but with Black folk and slave trade.
Pso1 with more maps/enemies/bosses/rare to hunt for while toning down some blatant imbalanced shit
the tank controls stay
Womb raider
Dante's Inferno II. It would cover the return of Dante from hell. More importantly, I'd bring Terry Gilliam out of retirement and make a movie.
Purgatory + heaven?
or just Purgatory?
also they should make sure the air guard works this time.
Also, Donald definitely needs a rage meter.
i'd make the driving equivalent of microsoft flight simulator. i'd hire musicians to craft hours and hours of playlists catering to all kinds of driving vibes. it'd be great.
Genuinely just go for a drive lmao
i dont have a license and am scared of traffic
I would buy out the whole industry and make good games
A survival horror based on one of the following:
1. A virus that turns people into basedboys
2. Insects
I would just remaster the Terranigma trilogy because SquareEnix sure as frick isn't going to do it.
Not bad. I'd make a Secret of Mana game that isn't shit.
First person rpg set in Tekumel from the empire of the petal throne PnP rpg setting
MMO set in Glorantha during the second age (empire of wyrm friends vs godlearners, with expansions for playing Orlanthi and besieging the clanking city of Zistorwal)
Soulslike set in Mordheim from WHFB
Forgot two from my list
Necromunda game with x-com combat and plenty of narrative choices
Harvest moon/rune factory like set in Gensokyo (actually started making notes for this a while ago but i can't seem to find them)
An RTwP CRPG where your party has a LoL inspired moveset with bullshit combos, dashes and general cancer broken mechanics only you can have all the fun you want without other players to piss off
I'd make new seasons of Reboot as interactive episodic adventure games.
A blending of Zoo Tycoon and RTS. Every animal, food stall and attraction serves a secondary purpose as units and defensive structures for when you get invaded.
Invaded by what?
ALIENS. Your Zoo would need to be profitable enough to survive and strong enough to fend off the reoccurring waves of off planet threats.
Sped based jrpg. Imagine boost sonic but hitting a badnick started a battle.
>Open source
>RTS
Make a dead genre even deader by giving it to a bunch of aspie coders.
I'd make a new Soul Blazer
Banjo-Threeie
Justice for my homie Emerl
I've always wanted to play a way of the samurai game on the scale of a mount and blade map where you can go from province to province and get involved in plotlines to overthrow the government or investigate rumours of a killer ghost, or find a missing cat or something. Actually now that I think about it I can probably just make that on my own.
non-israelited mmorpg
Currently I have 5 different games I am developing in my head.
>not wanting more game out of your favorite game
if you had the opportunity why wouldn't you do it if no one else is?
I'd make a spiritual successor of blazblue with funny caricature dudes
A proper "A" hentai game. Enough of Illusion kusoge.
Magical Girl Monster Hunter.
Pick a weapon and your spells and your familiar and just beat up magical monsters.
Look man I just watch Nanoha and holy frick the magic weapons in there are cool
>sonic battle without sonic
Nah, characters sell the games
>buy Ultima license from under EA's sweaty, negligent armpit
>WE'RE REBOOTING IT
>you are isekaid into an eerily placid Britannia summoned by a voice pleading for help
>everything is reset to beginning of Ultima IV timeline
>"Go master the virtues and become the avatar"
>open world realtime action RPG with emphasis on systems and simulation (NPC schedules, celestial movements, moongate rotations) and quests that utilize them heavily
>quest to become avatar underlined with sinister unease, something isn't right in Britannia
>typical shrine and dungeon completion deviates into finding the source of the voice
>pic related
>surprise this is a soft reboot, Ultima 8 onward were the dream hellscape of the Guardian imprisoning the Avatar in Avalon esque stasis
>the guardian has already conquered britannia and subjugated its people and this is a cruel puppet show put on to thwart the Avatar's last ditch effort
>torch passes to you to save Britannia
>next game is Ultima IX but not shit, where you're going around a conquered Britannia trying to wake up its inhabitants
I have the money. What I don't have is any ideas or the talent necessary to make the game.
sonicgays only care about sonic
so you have the option to make a fangame and get some social media praise, or make an actual game and get 0 attention from the sonic autists
I would force my will on FATlus and add extremely elaborate sex scenes to the newest persona entry.
A disco Elysium style Rpg set in a Don Quijote Inspired Universe.
A mix of Tokyo Xtreme Racer and Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift where you can race both on touges and highways, maybe throwing some rally stages and circuits as extra
I'm surprised it isn't being done for free like the other iffy Sanics
https://sonicchroniclesreimagined.com/
Top-down 2D Zelda-style open world TES-like with Smash Melee combat and movement tech
Shame, shame. I played Decline in a next fest. Bad game.
Shame, shame.
Also Sonic Battle was good with passable gameplay and enjoyable writing
absolutely would wanna make a game like the Legacy of Goku series but with actually good melee combat and level up systems with abilities akin to other ARPGs
Tokyo Jungle 2
I'd make a new Advance Wars that isn't ugly
