Dread is extremely overrated.
Literally how it’s very fairly rated on here. It has the best movement and gameplay in the series with it’s only problems being the soundtrack and slight railroading.

Dread was cool but I think my favourite of the Switch’s lifecycle was Kirby and the forgotten land. Loved every moment of that game

For me the best Switch games are Metroid Dread and Mario Odyssey. I won't include BotW because it's also on the Wii U.
Unicorn took that crown for me. Haven't had this much fun with an SRPG ever.

I started playing Metroid Dread earlier today. For about 10-15 minutes I literally wasn't playing the game after booting it, was forced to watch a massive cutscene I couldn't even skip. I closed Yuzu, and decided to play Rusted Moss instead. Made me remember why I dropped Samus Returns. Last 2D metroid game I played was AM2R in like 2016 and apparently I was right to give up on this franchise
Yeah, nintendo has old habits that they really need to let go of. You'd think they would make more cutscenes convenient to skip.
TOTK had a similar problem where the first hour is just hallways and exposition, and then a boring tutorial.
You did good. The game doesn't improve and about every 5 minutes gameplay gets interrupted by cutscenes, tutorials, boss fights have mandatory epic QTE segments and other derivative movie shit. I thought hollow shart was overrated but it's honestly a masterpiece compared to metroid dread. At least it respects your time as a player. I can boot up Zero Mission or Super and play the game in a minute. No wonder zoomers think metroid games aren't worth playing if they try the most recent entry to test the waters and meet face-to-face with movieslop. No wonder so many people end up hating modern videogames

If that's true then that's sad. While I enjoyed it and the movement felt the best it's ever been in a Metroid game, overall it felt more bland than previous entries and just overall wasn't as memorable to me, personally.
