Fire usually deals DoT, has AoE, High dmg, can do area denial, depending on the games reduce or prevent healing, deal damage based a % of the enemy health and in some others also cause panic/fear.

I feel like water wold be useful, because you can drink it, and also put out fire with it, and grow plants with it.
So we have crops, drinking water, and control of fire. We can figure electricity out on our own terms later.
