I have never met a person with hundreds or thousands of hours in dota/league/csgo that actually said anything positive about the games. i just dont get it
It's addiction, the joy of winning a match by a stomp is so high a player will chase the feeling again and again even if it takes godawful infuriating matches to get it again

I meme about how much time I've wasted but I still find them very fun. The minute to minute gameplay and the mindgames you can do (in DOTA at least) is unmatched against all the other multiplayer games I've played over the years. The game is played by a huge variety of (mostly buttholes and morons) that I get a kick out of how different every game is. I'm on 8k hours, which isn't that much compared to some people and their favorite games ITT like 70k Run Escape man above me, but yeah. I don't play it as much as I used to, but I still enjoy it.
A lot of people talk about the dopamine hit from winning, but honestly for me its the small moments through out the game where you absolutely outplay people, or entire teams.
runescape
I've put in at least 60-70k hours into Runescape, which works out to about 7 years of playtime. I plan to spend the rest of my life playing it.

I kind of miss it. I remember spamming vulgarities at the peruvians on US East. the rush of turning around a game, or coming back after megas spawned. it really was like a drug.
now the game looks like flaming dogshit from what i've seen, like something you'd find on the chinese appstore. haven't looked back since then.
