could you explain the dif between 8 and xl and what they have over 7? i was wanting to play a dynasty warriora game after my copy of 7 got stolen years ago but dont know whats worth it

nta but 7 is pretty linear whereas 8XL has branching paths in a sorta what-if mode. I unfortunately played 8xl first then went back to try 7xl since it was on sale and was massively disappointed that not every game was setup that way.

Every character in 8/XL has a unique weapon type. In 7/XL many characters have the same weapons with the exact same movesets barring EX moves and Musous.
The Story mode in 8 is 10 times better. There are bonus objectives in certain battles that can unlock alternate hypothetical branches in the story. And each stage has multilpe characters you can play as. In 7 the story mode is entirely linear and you are forced into one character for each stage.
8/XL also has free mode where you can play every stage with any character. 7 doesn't have that.
8 is literally just 7 but better in every conceivable way. 8XL was a separate expansion that you need 8 to play if you got the original versions (PS3 and 360) but PS4 or PC has 8XL complete which has all of 8 and XL's content together.

just let me know when they make a decent pc port

Orochi 3 Ultimate is a pretty good port. It's probably due to the fact that it's running on an ancient engine, but still, no complaints with that port.

Warriors Orochi 3 and Dynasty Warriors 5

DW4's map designs are bland as frick, lots of recycled maps too. Storytelling is bland.
WO1 and 2 are grindy in an awful way.
DW8's combat is embarrassing, the mooks are absolutely worthless meanwhile officers make you deal with the tedious rock-paper-scissors combat. And the officers literally attack in super slow motion, that's how braindead the combat is.

DW5 has decent storytelling and is the last Omega Force musou where you can actually die by attrition when fighting mooks. This is very unlikely to happen in WO3, but it's still my favorite one because it's gameplay is the best compromise between the older musou (where the limited movesets can make the game tedious) the newer ones (more moves, more enemies on screen, but weaker enemy AI). And being able to freely choose any character (once unlocked) for any mission, is something I really enjoy. Has the most content out of any musou, I think.

Fire Emblem Warriors and Hyrule Warriors are neat, but I with there was a much more violent game to play in the genre. I want a musou that looks like Mortal Kombat

If you want to play one game and never touch the genre again, WO3 Ultimate.
I wouldn't say it's the best at anything but it's decent in all categories, and has an impressive amount of content, especially the roster.

Let me break it down for you:

DW3+XL is the greatest DW game of all time. Everything after it is baby mode in comparison and weak.

SW1 is the best SW game, but SW4 and SoS are good too as they bring back the dark tone of the first.

Dragon Quest Heroes is the best spinoff series, and 2 is a legit full action RPG.

      >he likes the second worst game in the series because it's """hard"""
      >he only likes SW for the """tone""" of a goddamn musou

I'm sorry for your shit taste, you have no idea what a musou is or should be. Please exit the thread now, newbie.

dw5 empires and sw2 empires are the best ones

      Anonymous

DW5 Empires is not that good. The strategic element is fine, but the actual combat becomes brainless busywork too quickly. Old Warriors games live and die by the quality of their mission designs. Replace that with procedural missions, and you have a tedious button masher.

Why the frick hasn't Koei jumped on the remaster train? They could release all the PS2 games with the expansions built in, widescreen and 60fps and make bank
