What is your favorite strategy game that you wish was remade? Like you love the game, but it desperately needs some changes (interface/balance, etc.).
For me, I cannot decide between
>Armageddon Empires
and
>Disciples II
so I'll just say that that's the best "wish it had a better AI and better UI" sci-fi TBS and the best "wish it had a better AI and better balance" fantasy TBS. Although for Disciples II, there is a decent balance mod.
I'll go with my beloved slavjank, but at the same time I fear that any change would ruin it. which is ironic because the game was proven to be unfinished.
I like some of the ideas of this game but it needs a lot of stuff to be reworked.
Czech made.

I hate the portraits, it makes me unable to treat my units with respect
Especially those ugly apes
Disciples 1 should be remade first. At least if it had some improvements from second game would be good
Universe at War
>delete GFWL
>add human faction and their full campaign
>make Ancient Aliens less unfun to play
Stronghold Legends
The game and the map editor is unfinished, simple as. I wouldn't mind seeing it expanded either, kind of like how Crusader has the roster from S1, I would love to see the other characters return for the skirmish AI.
Battle Realms
perfectly playable today, graphical remaster at best.
It needs better controls, people who are "pros" at games like Starcraft/Starcraft II or AoE2 wouldn't be able to handle the micro needed for all the abilities and avoiding melee in Battle Realms. Yes, it's literally too hard to have a big multiplayer scene. There are like 2 guys who dominate everyone because they are the only ones who know how to play and have memorized some of the hidden unit stats that are never explained in the game, possibly touched on in the manual but even there it's incorrect or outdated or misleading.
It would need its own Spirit of the Law just to cover the important stuff.
Lotus is too powerful and Dragon too weak. You need like +200 MMR to beat Lotus players as a Dragon player.
Give me that fricking Tiberian Sun remaster already EA you fricking wienersuckers! I KNOW YOU HAVE IT IN THERE SOMEWHERE! GIVE IT!
Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance.
Make X2 resources the standard rate, add Flowfield pathfinding, add more multi-role Seton's style maps, and delete experimentals from the game.
>delete experimentals from the game
Setonlet can't figure out how Percivals work, typical.
I use percies as UEF, moron. I hate that players in general don't bother making big armies in the late game and just make experimentals plus mobile shield gens so we don't get actual large battles.
Experimentals are gay anyways.
I fricking loved this game, then forgot all about it.
>Myth
You KNOW they'd frick up the story. Or rather, storytelling.
They would add black women
my pick too - too bad bungie has been dead for years now
This, the expansion, and the sequel actually were remastered. I still need to play them though once I fix my PC.

I don't know... did you really have fun with it? I remember how incredibly hyped for it I was as a kid because all the game review magazines said it's like the 2nd coming of Jesus.
And then I played it, first island was still somewhat hyped but... never made it past the second one. The animal titan (or whatever they were called) was so pointless. I just had to micromanage everything. Couldn't resist abusing everyone to alleviate the boredom. Maybe it could have a normal control system, just point and click, don't pretend there's something special that you have to slap your pet by moving the mouse.
i thought it was ment for online play more than anything.
How would you make it not shit?
What's wrong with Disciples 2, REMOOSTER homosexual.
Like I said, AI and although the mod makes some of the most glaring issues (overpowered undead paralyze, or invulnerable units for some matchups) better, the game still needs some sort of comeback mechanic/easier way to field high XP armies in late game. Usually they manage to have 1 decent army, you crush them and then all they can do is spam trash to distract you at best. Also, neutrals should refresh on the map somehow/somewhere. Or just make it possible to train higher XP units in late. One or the other. Heroes 3 didn't need refreshing XP because players even AI could still come back after their main army got crushed.
I think SimEarth deserve to be remade. Of course, if I'm not incorrect, the rights belongs to EA, so I would rather have "spiritual successor" than straight up remake. They're like a bunch indie god games, but nothing that scratch SimEarth itch. Or at least I'm not aware of one.
>Avians
Sim-ant
No the shitty remake by indie studio doesnt count.
How did they get away with it?
Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth
Shattered Galaxy
An MMO RTS from over twenty years ago.
Why did only one game copy Armageddon Empires? It's such an interesting idea, just needed refinement.
It's less of a strategy game but Fallout Tactics is my favorite half-baked piece of shit. Could've been expanded so much more
I think this was the first Fallout game I was aware of as a kid, so I looked forward to playing it a lot. Then I played Fallout and Fallout 2 only because they came out as cover games, then over a decade passed, New Vegas, another 7 years later, bought it on GOG, disappointment immeasurable, didn't even finish it.
I will tell you this. If this game had the same level of freedom and a story on the level of Fallouts 1 and 2, then it would've been the best Interplay Fallout. The tactical gameplay was great.
Also heard that there was a Fallout Tactics 2 in the works, but it was canned before it was finished. It was over 80% finished.
i have heard that the steam and gog versions of Z arent that great.
its a bummer that the gog version of heroes of annihilated empires doesnt play the cut scenes and has a penchant to crash.
Red Alert 2
And TibSun
Actually I'm less fussed about TS. You can get that working on modern PCs without too much hassle. RA2 is a right and proper Black person though.
I don't see why they won't remaster/make/release it though, considering everyone loved the TD/RA remakes.
I don't see the point of it. C&C has nothing original about it, other than the claim to fame that it "invented" the basis of most RTS designs. Any two AoE2 civs are more vastly different from each other than Russians/Americans or Nod/GDI ever were.
Give me a GENERALS remake instead.
>Any two AoE2 civs are more vastly different from each other than Russians/Americans or Nod/GDI ever were.
Gr8 b8 m8 r8 8/8
A generals remake would be kino, but it would never get made in current year.
FOR ME IT'S
>HoMM IV gets the attention and testing its concepts deserved over its fate as bankruptcy shovelware with a suspiciously good OST (and maybe they write the game better too)
or
>Master of Orion 3 gets the justice it deserved
>Master of Orion 3 gets the justice it deserved
Yes, I agree. We must throw every remaining copy into an active volcano
There's no fricking way Ubisoft can do it justice. Best case scenario, they sell the IP to someone that actually cares about the series
To me, a high res mod that properly scales and also plays the videos without resizing your resolution (or whatever it's doing, maybe it's loading in a separate window?) would be perfectly good enough.
Cherry on top would be graphical improvement in the sprites, something that would give different factions different skins. No need to change anything in gameplay.
Imperialism or Ascendancy
Two great old forgotten strategy games that need to be brought back
i'd love fate of the dragon and command and conquer generals
Medieval 2 so modding limits are lifted. I don't give a flying frick about rome1 and boring antiquity
Earth 2150. It's actually a pretty kino setting, and the game itself has some neat ideas. It would benefit from some high production values, like actual in-game cutscenes instead of bland text.
t. Pole
I want a remake of Stars!.
>reinstalled Armageddon Empires because of this thread
>uninstalled Armageddon Empires before this thread archived
It lasts for a week tops, simple as.
Yeah, I played the demo and thought it was interesting, but was worried about long-term play. Seems like one of those games you master in a short time and then there's nothing else to keep you engaged.
Kohan
Paraworld. It needs its base mechanics revisited and the sidebar from Sins of a Solar Empire. Also needs a far higher unit cap.
