I always hated Tidus because he just looks and acts gay. He's a little frickboy and I don't like him. Squall may be an edgy douche but at least he's manly and cool.
FF VIII had better soundtrack (even though X's OST is also good) and Triple Triad, so that means VIII is overall a better game.
Both have shitty story full of plotholes, moronic characters (Selphie, Wakka), annoying characters (Rinoa, Lulu), villains with no believable motives, and bad leveling system. Junction was basically ''turn best cards into spell and put on stats'', while Sphere Grid, which is initially interesting, becomes a chore when you know that you have to spend hours and hours deleting weaker nodes and replacing with better ones if you want to beat optional bosses without Kojimbo. (yes yes, Yojimbo, but Kojima reference sounds better)
I would play VIII remake tho. Would definitely prefer VIII remake over IX. But it's not like it happen. >but anon, there is a modern port

FF8 is so horribly designed, you have two seperate games. You have Laguna’s storyline & Squall’s storyline, crammed together so there’s no development and it’s jarring jumping between them. It’s the only game that would legit benefit from a episodic remake, without Laguna you get way more development for Squall & his party, maybe even telling a coherent plot. Then Laguna’s story could be it’s own seperate game
I remember dropping the game at Laguna, I was that disinterested.
But one of the comfiest nights of my life was drinking a big bottle of coke with the most delicious bowl of rice and shredded chicken ever. ty for my blog

I like Squall a lot more than Tidus but his game is a mess.
