Thanks to the split timeline, Link's true OoT love dies alone with a dusty pussy in two of three timelines, or maybe gets dicked by some other butthole and extends that undeserving pick's bloodline (probably Mido's, that c**t). And in the timeline where he -does- exist long enough to frick, he wasn't fulfilled in life since he never passed his skills down in life, which is code for "he had daughter(s) and lol girls can't sword". OoT Link's happy end is finally seeing his male descendant be a man, which probably meant he was cursed with a long line of dumb female b***hes who can't pick up a sword for dick, and that's a shame.

So there's a stretch of time between the end scene of OoT and when Zelda sees him off in the MM flashback where Link was off at the ranch. It's unknown how long this was and how much he interacted with Zelda during those times.
