The kids now didn't go through Pokemania, but a lot of them still buy Pokemon products (or there parents rather) and Pokemon merchandise is everywhere, especially stuff with Pikachu.

Yes, people forget that Pokémon only sells well because the fan base already exists. Seriously, I've never seen a child with any Pokémon product, only adults.

Even if this was limited to the zoomeriest zoomer, there's literally and figuratively zero way they know fricking Agent 47 or Sockboy before Pikachu. It's an impossibility. Pokemon has movies, games that span countless platforms, including Pokemon Go and various other shovelware mobile games, has multiple TV shows, etc. Sockboy was a mascot for a game nobody cared about on a console with no games.
Considering Abe literally came out of a warp pipe wearing a red "M" cap in promotion of the Tokyo Olympics, I think Mario wins by default.
