I started Baki recently with the Netflix series. I read everything else and am now up to speed. Yujiro isn't a Mary Sue, but there has to be some word for what he's become. At first I thought his over the top existence was funny, but now finishing the Sumo arc, the dude is honestly the worst part of the series. It's almost like the writer wants the joke to be serious.
Ironically enough as I read more a lot of the D listers became my favorite characters. Jack, Biscuit, Shibukawa, Katsumi, and Motobe are all astronomically better characters, likeable, and more interesting. Yujiro and Baki could be removed and it would honestly be a better read to me at this point.
