It is. Umbrella has been reformed into a nee company called Blue Umbrella that seeks to undo the damage caused by the original Umbrella by traveling the world and putting down bioweapons wherever they appear. Chris leads this team and shows up at the end of both 7 and 8 to BTFO the baddies. In 8 he has an extremely over-top playable section where he shoots his way through a veritable army of werewolves.

Diff anon here. I, too, was skeptical but they were pretty damn good. They're basically the feel of 1 but in first person and plenty of shooting parts so they're somewhat like 4 in that way. I really liked them a lot and will definitely be replaying them. Threemake, on the other hand, still haven't finished.

Worst part of the game too, evil doll is so fricking lame and they did it in the lamest way possible. Same shit with Evelyn in RE7, maniacal laughter from the supposedly spooky evil villain is not scary in the slightest and I genuinely don't understand why it's such a common trope

This isn't new. Characters like Nero, Apollo, Luke, etc have been attempts at this with their other series. Capcom is a company that isn't afraid to have characters age/years pass in their series.

honestly Village jumped the shark in a way I didn't think this series could do after we literally killed a shark in the first one and then shot another in the face in the sixth.

the entire story basically just feels like a bunch of different concepts chopped up and slapped together, which is apparently not far from the truth for the game's development, but the whole thing existing off of stupid character flaws and misinformation that shouldn't have been happening followed by last minute twists making it super crucial to everything is fricking stupid
