They have no competition in the virtual Legos genre, so they really have no incentive to try hard. A couple of anons playing Vintage Story or autist fiddling with mods in Minetest are a mere speck to the horde of children asking their mommy to pay for comestics and custom blocks from the ingame shop. It's easy to forget most players are children who don't have a grander idea of what the game could've been like we do.
Modern worldgen is god awful. You have tiny canyons all over the place. Step in the wrong direction and you'll end up 100 blocks down. It looks like shit, too.
If you're not using a worldgen mod on 1.17 and above, you're missing out.
the only argument for discovery that can be made are the mushroom biomes, because they generate in the oceans only. other than that, there's no fricking sense of discovery whatsoever. people always went on the infinite size of the world but it really most players during that era never left the continent they spawned in.
>defending giant oceans
These tiny pixels are entire biomes, these are not island but continents.
What you're looking at are an hour of land exploration and then 2 hours of swimming to get to another one. This is objectively bullshit. There aren't even any major islands inbetween.
They should have made it so that you have huge continents with the potential to spawn in large oceans with archipelagos. Just make "Giant ocean" an official biome or something.
>1 enemy >crafting anything takes up 10 times as long as it is suppossed to >everything in convoluted even when not needed
I don't see what's so appealing about it.
Corporate frickery where they're afraid to change things up too much and everything has to be approved by a series of committees now.
Because why try when you're already the most sold video game of all time?
to make more money?
Touche
Bedrock edition exists for that purpose

Well, 1.13, 1.14, 1.16, and 1.18 were great, but they can't keep it up forever.
What went so wrong?
are islands not a thing anymore?
It's a giant landmass with a few ponds scattered around
You will rarely find a land of any significant size that is completely surrounded by water
a shame, I loved exploring islands on an island spawn

what soul is there in sailing 10,000 blocks on an empty ocean?
Discovery

>he doesn't want to feel like an explorer finding new lands
I don't want to if that means wasting my time and world space for empty useless space.
they killed worldgen so idiots like you wouldn't get bored. awful take.
>No argument
lol
>zoomer
Are you moronic? 1.0-1.6 generation is zoomer shit. Real homies prefer the Beta one.

Trans developers x Zogsoft
too scared to upset spergs that will explode if you fundamentally change the game
that or laziness
development via committee
They should make Minecraft 2 where every block is affected by gravity and physics
it already exists and it's called Vintage Story
looks kino. is it fun?
if you like having autistically in-depth survival and crafting mechanics then yes
No. It's too much work. Use Minecraft with Physics Mod instead if you want to die in a landslide.
it's great if you dont have a job
Impressive, it didn't lag either. Or at least not to a noticeable degree.

Because they're moronic.
>hurr do you want a DUNGEON in your mining and exploration game?
>how about an overpowed weapon that can one shot anything??
1.2.5 was the best
