I use it for clipping and I know I can use OBS for it but I really like the feedback that a clip was successful. I know it's autistic but unless there is a way to have a notification in OBS I'm staying.

Not OP but i looked up of what the frick sharex is and its just a basic tool of some basic functionality that flameshot, OBS and kdenlive covers. The complaint is that you can be brain dead and use sharex while with flameshot, obs, kdenlive combo you might need a couple brain cells to use them in the same way.
It's always the same complains from wintoddlers.

He's yet to tell me what functionality he's missing after asking him twice, so I'm assuming that he doesn't actually know what flameshot does and he's just insisting. I've used ShareX a few times and its primary purpose is the screenshot function and saving to the clipboard/auto uploading to image sites. All of that functionality can be replicated in the same way with the same amount of automation. I feel like this is one of those things were people get really attached to the idea that brands create functionality when its the other way around.

                1. That's one terrible, naive and idiotic comparison.
                2. Where am I saying that again? Because I've just recently been binging through the Yakuza franchise, spending many evenings enjoying Deep Rock Galactic, etc, without any issues. Most of them late-2010s' to early 2020s' games.

FYI, Windows 7 is literally "NT 6.1".
                W8 was 6.2, and Wee10 6.3.
Your latest MS Wontworks systems literally run on the exact same base and Kernel as Vista, and with W7 being a proper 64-bit system, the only reason certain (very few) products are not supported on it are purely capitalistic.

tl;dr: Windows 7 is still a perfectly viable operating system, and the last good OS Microsoft has released.
When it's finally time to put this old warhorse down, Wee10, ""the very last Windows version EVAH!!** "", will already be dead and buried as well.

Sorry kid, you need to play more games.
Souls shit got very tiresome already after the first Dark Souls, which itself was nothing more than a fine if not already a bit easier Demon's Souls ripoff.

It's been nothing but downhill since then, and ER is a prime example of what happens when you keep beating the dead horse for almost two decades. The empty and fugly open world serves no purpose at all, and the gameplay is the same tedious rollin-on-a-ground Simon Says pattern memorization, over and over again.
It looks bad, is not fun to play, and the story is literal porn-film tier background fluff to justify the pointless, agonizing violence.

                >All games are pointless.
Value is given, and it needs to be earned.
ER provides nothing new and outright takes several steps back. It's just sad to see the zoom zoom crowds brag about some implied "higher standards" of the era, when a game this shallow, outdated and clunky gets praised as the second coming of the Christ.

Dark Souls was mostly an improvement over Demon's Souls. The world and lore is so much fricking better in Dark Souls, not to mention the interconnected design of the first half of the game.

DaS really was nothing more than a streamlined DeS, and streamlining isn't always a positive trait.
It's funny how so many nu-Souls fans claim to be some sort of HC ultra gaymers, but totally get filtered by the DeS' consumable healing system.

                Anonymous

The thing people hype about Souls games is just that the devs are willing to make enemies that kill you. It's not that complicated.

                Anonymous

Which is a very sad way of seeing it.
Back in the early PS3 days, when DeS was all the rave, it really was seen as the first major counter attack against the ongoing extreme casualization of the industry.
It wasn't however just some masochistic dying fest. I vividly recall many people using the term "3D Diablo", which fits.

What are you talking about? The healing items system in DeS makes it easier not harder, it was literally something they fixed in DaS by inventing the Estus system.

Having to manually locate and loot consumable healing grasses, that come in various shapes and sizes, is certainly a much more demanding and challenging system than the auto-refueled Flasks of (every other Souls game afterwards).
It actually made certain unique skills like the Templar Knight's "miracles" a valuable tactical asset.

Nope. Hell, I can even admit that I outright suck ass at Souls games, but it's become awfully clear that the later installments just got easier and easier mechanically. Something they've clearly tried to compensate by cranking up the SPEED of the action and adding even more bullshit insta-kill segments. Many alternative tactics, builds, "metas" in general seem to be more impractical than ever before.

Q: Do you think plant-based and lab-grown meats could be the full solution to the protein problem globally, even in poor nations? Or do you think it’s going to be some fraction because of the things you’re talking about, the cultural love of a hamburger and the way livestock is so central to economies around the world?

A: For Africa and other poor countries, we’ll have to use animal genetics to dramatically raise the amount of beef per emissions for them. Weirdly, the US livestock, because they’re so productive, the emissions per pound of beef are dramatically less than emissions per pound in Africa. And as part of the [Bill and Melinda Gates] Foundation’s work, we’re taking the benefit of the African livestock, which means they can survive in heat, and crossing in the monstrous productivity both on the meat side and the milk side of the elite US beef lines.

So no, I don’t think the poorest 80 countries will be eating synthetic meat. I do think all rich countries should move to 100% synthetic beef. You can get used to the taste difference, and the claim is they’re going to make it taste even better over time. Eventually, that green premium is modest enough that you can sort of change the [behavior of] people or use regulation to totally shift the demand.

So for meat in the middle-income-and-above countries, I do think it’s possible. But it’s one of those ones where, wow, you have to track it every year and see, and the politics [are challenging]. There are all these bills that say it’s got to be called, basically, lab garbage to be sold. They don’t want us to use the beef label.

It didn't its just another windie cope to keep using spyware and be lazy. Even if it did it doesn't matter because you can't enforce your ideology on open source tech. With closed source shit like windows you're at the mercy of what windows wants. With open source if you don't like something you just fork your own shit.

I tried Linux on my old laptop and while it's pretty cool, I'll still keep using Windows on my main desktop simply because I want to be able to play any game without any problem. I don't care if "most" games work with Proton, I don't feel like it's worth it if you use your PC for vidya. I don't want to troubleshoot 20% of the games I want to play.

Not to mention games break, fix and break again every week if they have been out less than a year.

It still doesn't work well. I used it as my daily driver for 4 months in 2017, but I would only recommend it for web browsing, and maybe reading some wegs. I tried out Arch Linux again a couple days ago and I wasn't able to get Risen working. After an hour of messing with Proton, I was finally able to get the offline GOG installer opened. When I booted the game, I got a huge error about the physics engine not loading. Installing PhysX did nothing. It shouldn't be this complicated. Also, "privacy" is a meme. If you're using the internet, or playing proprietary video games, you have no privacy no matter the system.

As usual there's always like 5-6 different methods to do things just like on Windows but people b***h because they're not used to doing it the way they've been conditioned to. Dunno what that is but also a fair argument. My advice would to just get a seperate SSD and boot into Windows for when you want to use that shit. I either try to get stuff working through wine or just boot into windows rather than fricking around with VM's or GPU passthrough shit.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking at the moment. Less of a headache and save space on the current ssd by offloading it to another one. I heard windows is a c**t as a bootloader and will overwrite the gnu one, is that true? I dont want to spam into my mobo's loader and handle it there.

Yes. My advice, buy a seperate SSD dedicated solely for Windows. When you go to install windows on it, disconnect all your other drives from the computer so the bootloader can only install on that specific SSD. It's a pain in the ass but if you do it this way you'll never run into problems again unless you mess with GRUB or whatever.

Nice tip, I'll keep it in mind when I do the transfer. Do you think it's worth installing games on the same windows SSD as well, or would you separate it? Just thinking about it from a profile perspective.

I wrote my PhD thesis in word and it was the worst experience I've ever had with a program, at some point it broke every single reference so I had to manually go through and redo 300+ references. Other fun problems include page breaks not working, images randomly jumping around, page numbering not letting me have two numberings and my favourite was the loop of updating the table of contents changed the pages which updated the table of contents which changed the pages.

Frick that sounds awful. I swear when doing assignments and writing thesis papers half your time is spent wrestling with Word and Excel just to get it to what you tell it to do. Kind of similar to how Windows is now. You tell it that you don't want to it keep installing Candy Crush so you uninstall it and then it just goes and reinstalls it behind your back during an update anyway.

If it hasn't been rolled out to you, that's great. But it does happen. I've been using Windows for nearly two decades now I wouldn't make this shit up. And you can find widespread accounts of it on the internet. Specifically King products like Candy Crush Saga. Because surprise surprise, M$ has deals with King.

      >So what's the big meme about Arch?
Rolling release distro. Meaning that it's close to bleeding edge in terms of software and updates.
      >Is there some big divide between Arch and Debian?
Debian is one of the the oldest linux distros. It's philosophy is all about stability, which means that software updates are not prioritised. This means that you can often have programs and dependencies that are sometimes years out of date all for the sake of stability and uptime. Not a very good thing for a gaming OS which often requires you making sure you've got the latest GPU drivers, updates etc. APT is also a shitty package manager.

You would think that Arch being close to the bleeding edge means things break every five minutes but that's not the case these days, and when things do break, it's usually because it's nvidia's fault. There's a reason Valve switched form SteamOS being based on Debian since 2013 to being based on pure Arch for the Steam Deck.

Ubuntu derivatives are the closest thing to Windows for new users. All.major software mentions it by name in downloads, it looks a bit like Windows and it is designed for newbies and the Linux curious.
The point isn't what is better than what as an operating system because that's a moronic concept because users have different requirements. The point was about people who have never tried Linux and wanted to. Ubuntu is the closest thing in terms of usage and popularity.

I'm not the OP but he's right bro. Ubuntu and it's derivitives haven't been relevent for about a decade. That's partly due to mismanagement by Canonical and it's apathy towards things like gaming or having the latest packages.

Sure, and that's what PC's are all about. You can grab some program that someone's made which automates everything with GUI's and so on, or you can get your hands dirty and come up with your own solutions like Maim+slop. There are people still pushing the narrative that the only option for Linux is getting your hands dirty and it couldn't be further from the truth. Windows use to be about letting you go both ways but now it deliberately gets in your way if you try to do the latter.

Valve's work on Proton has been amazing for Linux gaming.

it's almost as if Valve understands that Microsoft will frick them over any time they get a chance

True but I wish people would remember to credit the proper WINE and other devs.

Oh of course no doubt Wine and its devs should be lauded as well for starting the whole thing in the first place. Valve were just the group to create a fork of it made specifically for gaming, which has then been forked itself into things like the GE-Custom branch, which in ways is even better then base Proton.
