Play the demo to see why. Great foundation but it ultimately amounts to forgotten white bread because there's nothing challenging about it in even the slightest way.

I genuinely hope this is bait but I know there's people who think that a Metacritic below a 90 means a game isn't very good/worth playing. Never, ever take Metacritic as gospel, and that includes the user score. Review aggregates will never tell you if YOU will like a game, and that's the only important part about a review.

I was under the impression it did fairly well. It’s a perfectly fine Kirby game which is to say that even at its hardest it’s pretty easy, but fun abilities, levels and bosses make it an enjoyable experience

If anything, the most offensive thing it does is be a little 'too' accessible to people bad at children's videogames. It's cool to add the "super OP" ability to a Kirby game, like UFO, Ghost, or Morpho Knight Sword, but allowing 'NOT ONLY' Morpho Sword into the True Arena, but it's been getting to a point where, it's not only Amiibo full heals, or a sword ability that literally heals you and oneshots bosses, but for some reason added power-ups like Offense and Defense and HP+. AND they allow you to retry when you get defeated 'from that boss'. It just defeats the purpose of a super hard true arena experience. It's the ultimate challenge of the game, earn it. Unironically, if you used any of the crutches, you didn't beat it. These are the same people who fricking cry about not being able to beat the Pantheon of Hallownest in Hollow Knight. "B-buh my true ending!" then go fricking git gud.
Oh and some of the mission's are a bit stale. The game coulda used a bit more "set pieces". Some levels are just hallways without feeling like anything happening in front of them. A bit hard to describe.

Sold quite well and I completed it but it does feel like a rather shallow step forward. It's not a Mario 64, it's a Mario 3D Land. For this far into the future, it's just far too incremental to be exciting.
