I hate retconning, content changes in general, and somehow in trying to make the change more palatable to audiences the drama surrounding this and the considerations of the changes makes this worse. Some guys are just not into transwomen, simple as. And sexuality, something so prudish and treated with such scrutiny in Japan with the whole "purity" thing, it's obvious that the perceptions if the character freaking out is both for comedic effect and to outline his sexual attitude towards those things for him, not necessarily saying he's transphobic. This leaves room for some nuance in how the player perceives the actions. A game like Persona should explore that side, and different characters should react accordingly, whether expected or otherwise. These culture war nerds and deranged left-wing homosexuals ought to let go of the controls for a change. It's so sad that people need to have virtual content match their exact tastes for whatever reason, and that series with established styles/characters/contexts get altered as a result.
