why would a foreign occupation know where a secret treasure is hidden. it was by and large a win by political means and projection of power. they didnt torture anyone in Dalmasca for information.

the only reason thieves managed to find what they thought was normal treasure was from local hearsay and information brokering. Thats like asking why Portuguese/Dutch traders couldnt find the secret mythical fairytale dragon rivers of silver in Japan

What I meant was why didn’t the imperials take the stone from vaan. Since they had him in custody why didn’t they search him for what he had on himself and find and take the stone? They obviously took his weapons as you are later able to get your weapons back in nalbina

And why does he hold the stone all of a sudden in that airship scene where the whole party is cuffed? How did it get there?

i feel like you didnt really pay close enough attention to what you were playing.

You replied to two different people. My post is about the imperial army not confiscating the stone from vaan before putting him in the Nalbina dungeon. They took away his weapons but he still has the stone. Why would the imperial guards not have confiscated it from vaan

the stone just appears in his handcuffed hands during that cutscene when it's brought up by Ghis and Ashe is nearby. it doesn't really make sense especially because they had all their belongings removed earlier in the game by Imperial guards when they went to the nalbina prison. I can suspend disbelief enough to forgive it but it is a minor plot point that could have been worked out better

I remember this. I thought it was really bizarre at the time, especially because he had handcuffs on. Even if he had it in his pocket or something, how did he manage to get it out?

    >Is this a plot hole?
    it probably is

you can see Balthier giving Penelo something when they are arrested but later she doesn't rejoin the group
it kind of looks like Balthier snatched the crystal and gave it to her but with no way of giving it back to Vaan or Balthier they gave up on that idea

Why though? It's like there was supposed to be some kind of pay off that they forgot about. Penello is pointless.

They use Penelo as a story goal. An endangered innocent.

She's the reason they go to the mines. She becomes Larsa's confidant.

I agree she is pointless in the second half of the game. But then she also appears in 2 other games. In FFTA2 and Revenant Wings.

They say when the Spanish visited the Americas looking for gold they overlooked the platinum because they had no idea how much more valuable and rare it was.

The nethicite was just a rock. Few people know what it is. Vaan's breast plate thing looks more impressive.

It's also Deifacted Nethicite. It has something of a will of it's own.
