I used to love the Dunmer, because of Morrowind, but they kinda became pussies once they got their asses kicked one or twice.
So Orcs are my new favorite. They constantly get their asses kicked, but they don't let it bring them down.
It's hard to say without knowing more about you but it's possible you are drawn to more "unique" choices when presented with a range of options. Clearly among the humanoid choices presented in ES games the khajit and argonian are immediately distinct and separate from the other options.
Consider other places in your life this may be observable. If you are dining out at a restaurant (with your imaginary wife) do you find yourself often selecting the most uncommon, unique, or "limited time" items on the menu? Same principle applies.
There's probably an advertising mechanism here you could be prone to but I'm not familiar with it specifically.
I played a khajit in skyrim because I thought the models looked cool and the human models were kind of meh. Besides nothing is cooler than being a cat during the day and a werewolf during the night. dhahs
