I think with E-Day and the travesty that was 4 and 5 they realized that not everything has to be Disney writing and you can indeed have massive sales figures on something dark and violent as all hell. It’s almost like brutal works of fiction have been going on in human history since we were cavemen.

if we didn't life in an age of wokeslop I would say the Gears of War trilogy would be great material for a remake. Retelling the original story but using the tech and bigger enemy pool, plus adding new gears to retell the conflict form diffrent perspectives to make it bigger.

COD and FIFA are fine. FIFA is legit the only football title worth playing (for now). And COD is COD; in small doses, it can be fine and can be fun. COD is plagued by cheaters, however, and Activision never really bothers to address it. Especially on older titles or older game modes. Assassin's Creed... Eh. Judgement was the most fun Gears game at release and has the most replayable campaign due to the stars system and enemy-shifting mechanics.
Speaking of Judgement, going to be funny if they add Halvo Bay as a campaign chapter from Marcus and Doms POV since they were there when they were held down until Dom saved their asses with the lightmass bombs.
This game could have a few months skip (What think the first game did too after when Marcus was broke out of prison) possibly midway into the game. Halvo Bay was think the second major city to be attacked after E-Day occurred.

That's the neat part because the COG were jacking all of their troops up with combat stims and muscle growth hormones. The Pendulum Wars was such a clusterfrick that they were diverting most of the food sources to the front while leaving the scraps at home for the birthing creches and essential industries. It's why the Stranded look so comically small because they have been through multiple generations of government mandated malnutrition. Skeltals and manlets were never meant to join the COG let alone wear their armor.

Only good thing 343 did was scrapping the idea they had for Halo 6 being a follow up to the moronation that was Halo 5's campaign. Seems like coalition is taking the same route here. I did however hear that most of the people who made 5 left the company or were moved to other projects not related to gears.

Should've ended the games at 3. Hivebusters and that XCOM ripoff attempted something by actually going beyond the original cast for the most part. But they always end up dragging Marcus back for one more round only to hurt him some more. As if the poor bastard hasn't lost enough at this point.

JD, Del, and Kait are part of a hippy commune who steal from prefab townships full of robots to get by. Hippies get vored by proto lambent creatures(?) that share a hivemind with the old locusts. They get marcus to help and shoot up more robots.Turns out a lot of the locusts got encased in crystal after the immulsion countermeasure weapon went off and the COG dumped them into old mines turned mass graves. Marcus gets vored, all of act 3 is chasing after him through an abandoned town, caves, and a mine while being reintroduced to the locust, now called Swarm™. Marcus is saved, now Kait's mother (a hippie) is the new priority. There's a section with a dam that goes on for way too long. The end sequence has Baird deliver giant pilotable mechs and you decapitate swarm cthulu with helicopter blades. Kait's mom is too far gone so she mercy kills her after they give their goodbyes, but leaves her body in the tentacle flesh pit for some reason. It's revealed (to the audience) that Kait's mom is Queen Myrrah's daughter. >5
The gang fix 1 hammer of dawn sattelite, swarm attack a prefab city, JD gets cooked a bit (it''s ok he shot at protesters who threw molotovs at him which is also why he defected and became a hippie). Kait is the protag now, there are terrible non combat vehicle sections, and zombie robots to shoehorn in stealth sections. More Mt. Kadar labs even more secret than the last ones. Niles AI convinces kait to stick her head in a thing, which revitalizes the swarm hivemind and Myrrah comes back, now inhabiting Kait's mom's body that was still in the tentacle flesh pit. They dick around in the desert for some reason. Myrrah attacks the capitol with a dune worm and kills JD or Del depending on who you save. Not 10 minutes later I shit you not the last heroic sacrifice is committed by a jack bot who hammer strikes himself to kill the worm and the game ends only 2 chapters into act 4. There's a spare jack in Baird's lab, the frick was the point of that?

Very dumb, I preferred them as a hostile separate species that simply lived underground and decided to rise up. The idea of something like that existing on your planet and you don't even know for thousands of years is creepy. Them only existing for a few decades because muh science experiment is total shit.
I don't mind if they're an experiment but only existing for a few decades and all of a sudden being able to lead a massive war at every location on the planet plus another entirely separate war underground against the Lambent is dumb.
they could have been both. drones looked like mutated humans to me, and the sires were established in 2, and with rustlung being a rampant disease that needed a cure, it seemed reasonable to assume that the locust may have been a cure gone wrong. but i figured alongside the drones the kantus and the locust beasts were native to the hollow, given they didn't really look human and nexus was hinted at being quite old. the psychic shit they added in 5 with the queen was what i thought didn't make any sense.

For the longest time I thought the premise of GoW was the planet Sera being part of a vast interstellar empire that fell into decline and they were just one of the many colonies who were dropped into a dark age. Would make sense for why they never dug too far into the planet or having never bothered to enter space again because they just came from there. That paired with their loss of knowledge and the inability to secure a stable power source after they burned up all of the rather mediocre amount of resources that came with the planet. Sorta like Kenshi in a way but the extinction event was more along the lines of general decay rather than being the result of an outright hostile external force.
Why do character replacements for a new series have to be special?

From the comics showcasing the war that took place before E-Day kicked off. Said tribe that those troopers were buckbreaking are the same ones that the big islander Tai hails from. Compared to the plethora of Halo killers that came and went it is a surprise that the state of Mexico even managed to carry Gears of War for this long. Now it is just a case of how long they are willing to placate nostalgia before they go for the killing blow like 343 did with Master Queef.

Gears 4 and 5 would have been significantly better received if that had abandoned the old cast entirely. At the moment the story does not make sense because humanity would not have the numbers to fight another large scale conflict. Also jumping from barely to surviving to having AI driven cities that build themselves, devices that ignore the laws of physics to create things from nothing, and giant mech suits in a single generation is really dumb.
They should have set the games 100-200 years into the future where the Locust have become "the old nightmare" and humanity has moved on. Then the robots and stuff would make more sense. It would also make the Swarm feel so much more threatening because no one would no how to fight them or what to expect. If they wanted to include the old cast they could have done it through data logs/flashback scenes like AC Revelations.

All the old guard would be dead, the world is a peace and then basically E-Day 2.0 happens, but from now worst point of view from the AI going rogue and the Swarm emerging shortly after in what would possibly be a 3 way war between AI, Swarm, and humanity. Also Myrah would remain dead here and the swarm leader for all I know could've been a Kantus survivor keeping up old traditions or something. That or make them a Lambent mutation.
The Swarm basically being basically the flood would've been a cooler idea than the b***hmode locust we got instead. Would've been scary too that Human would turn into the Swarm instead of being made into Killer Klowns Cotton Candy juicepads.

I actually like Del but I wish they had developed his character more. It may sound odd but my gut feeling is they originally intended for him to be Cole's son. It would explain why JD and him were friends since they grew up together and would give him a little more characterization. He also has a similar optimistic/naive attitude like Cole but is a little smarter. It feels like they decided last minute to cut that (because to be honest having all of the cast related to the old one is bad) so he's left with basically nothing.
I think they did that and then made Hana Cole who is a massive Mary Sue super-scientist with what was originally his story.
It could also explain why he's so much into tech stuff. Cole would be around Baird and he could pick it up while JD was more into the militaristic stuff.

Halo 4 being more about Cortana an AI being more human the MC was intressting in concept, all the other stuff around it was the problem.
If I had to have come up with a new story for Halo I would have set it 10.000.000 years in the future were humanity themself have disappeared and become a legend like the Forunners and MC and Cortana being stuck in a new intergaltic religous war between new aliens civilizations. Its similar but diffrent enough in other ways.
They shot themselves in the foot with 4 by making the son the protag and instead of rectifying it in 5 they doubled down by going down another generation. Didn't help the game was also average at best.
The start of Gears 4 has you fighting against the CoG and they send robots after you. After that the Locust return as the Swarm and you fight them. It turns out they have the ability to infect the robots so you are fighting them both together.
It's...okay. The robots aren't bad and their voicelines can be funny. They also do a good job of being horrifying in parts of the game and DLC. It's just hard to justify the universe having ai and such. Even the books do a poor job of setting it up.
Because despite what the pajeet shills would have you believe, 5 bombed quite hard. The story was not good and the ending wrote themselves into a corner. 6 is never gonna happen, it was going nowhere interesting and nobody really cared.

No. Seems like it's going to be Gears 1 with more improvements and details, which is a good thing. Gears really just needed some more animations and context things.
ie. if you're close to a frag, and it explodes, maybe it blows you away before DBNO or blows you back and you have some recovery time. Things like that.

no. RTS games have a lot of vehicle units. you'd have to make up a tonne of new stuff for each faction that you probably wouldn't even recognise that the game is a gears game anymore. RTS worked well for halo because all their vehicles were iconic and covies had a bunch of interest and unique alien types who could all use guns. Gears doesn't really have that. they made the right decision making an xcom clone instead of an RTS though because of well the cover system works in that style of game.
always felt, across every single title that the story in Gears only managed to be as strong as interesting its aesthetics were and the machismo of its dudebros, I don't think the writers for 4 and 5 were good enough to sell me something different and the idea they are doing a prequel gives me even less hope, it sounds like they are relying on a safer ground and nostalgia.
4 started off great.. You're JD, son of Marcus, doing stupid things like stealing from the COG, helping that Outsider girl you want to bone, investigating a mystery of missing people from settlements.. And blam, new Locust like threat emerging, different but same.. And then it all goes to shit, storywise, with Kait.

i replayed the series when 5 came out. played 4 and 5 one after the other. 4 and 5 are the best in the series. 1 is a classic, 2 gets a bit boring and long winded, 3 felt like they were tired and copying a fast and the furious movie's pacing. it was a bit childish and silly. Judgement had a more consistent tone with 4 and 5.

That's the neat part because the COG were jacking all of their troops up with combat stims and muscle growth hormones. The Pendulum Wars was such a clusterfrick that they were diverting most of the food sources to the front while leaving the scraps at home for the birthing creches and essential industries. It's why the Stranded look so comically small because they have been through multiple generations of government mandated malnutrition. Skeltals and manlets were never meant to join the COG let alone wear their armor.

JD, Del, and Kait are part of a hippy commune who steal from prefab townships full of robots to get by. Hippies get vored by proto lambent creatures(?) that share a hivemind with the old locusts. They get marcus to help and shoot up more robots.Turns out a lot of the locusts got encased in crystal after the immulsion countermeasure weapon went off and the COG dumped them into old mines turned mass graves. Marcus gets vored, all of act 3 is chasing after him through an abandoned town, caves, and a mine while being reintroduced to the locust, now called Swarm™. Marcus is saved, now Kait's mother (a hippie) is the new priority. There's a section with a dam that goes on for way too long. The end sequence has Baird deliver giant pilotable mechs and you decapitate swarm cthulu with helicopter blades. Kait's mom is too far gone so she mercy kills her after they give their goodbyes, but leaves her body in the tentacle flesh pit for some reason. It's revealed (to the audience) that Kait's mom is Queen Myrrah's daughter.

The gang fix 1 hammer of dawn sattelite, swarm attack a prefab city, JD gets cooked a bit (it''s ok he shot at protesters who threw molotovs at him which is also why he defected and became a hippie). Kait is the protag now, there are terrible non combat vehicle sections, and zombie robots to shoehorn in stealth sections. More Mt. Kadar labs even more secret than the last ones. Niles AI convinces kait to stick her head in a thing, which revitalizes the swarm hivemind and Myrrah comes back, now inhabiting Kait's mom's body that was still in the tentacle flesh pit. They dick around in the desert for some reason. Myrrah attacks the capitol with a dune worm and kills JD or Del depending on who you save. Not 10 minutes later I shit you not the last heroic sacrifice is committed by a jack bot who hammer strikes himself to kill the worm and the game ends only 2 chapters into act 4. There's a spare jack in Baird's lab, the frick was the point of that?

Very dumb, I preferred them as a hostile separate species that simply lived underground and decided to rise up. The idea of something like that existing on your planet and you don't even know for thousands of years is creepy. Them only existing for a few decades because muh science experiment is total shit.
I don't mind if they're an experiment but only existing for a few decades and all of a sudden being able to lead a massive war at every location on the planet plus another entirely separate war underground against the Lambent is dumb.
they could have been both. drones looked like mutated humans to me, and the sires were established in 2, and with rustlung being a rampant disease that needed a cure, it seemed reasonable to assume that the locust may have been a cure gone wrong. but i figured alongside the drones the kantus and the locust beasts were native to the hollow, given they didn't really look human and nexus was hinted at being quite old. the psychic shit they added in 5 with the queen was what i thought didn't make any sense.

For the longest time I thought the premise of GoW was the planet Sera being part of a vast interstellar empire that fell into decline and they were just one of the many colonies who were dropped into a dark age. Would make sense for why they never dug too far into the planet or having never bothered to enter space again because they just came from there. That paired with their loss of knowledge and the inability to secure a stable power source after they burned up all of the rather mediocre amount of resources that came with the planet. Sorta like Kenshi in a way but the extinction event was more along the lines of general decay rather than being the result of an outright hostile external force.

Gears 4 and 5 would have been significantly better received if that had abandoned the old cast entirely. At the moment the story does not make sense because humanity would not have the numbers to fight another large scale conflict. Also jumping from barely to surviving to having AI driven cities that build themselves, devices that ignore the laws of physics to create things from nothing, and giant mech suits in a single generation is really dumb.
They should have set the games 100-200 years into the future where the Locust have become "the old nightmare" and humanity has moved on. Then the robots and stuff would make more sense. It would also make the Swarm feel so much more threatening because no one would no how to fight them or what to expect. If they wanted to include the old cast they could have done it through data logs/flashback scenes like AC Revelations.

All the old guard would be dead, the world is a peace and then basically E-Day 2.0 happens, but from now worst point of view from the AI going rogue and the Swarm emerging shortly after in what would possibly be a 3 way war between AI, Swarm, and humanity. I actually like Del but I wish they had developed his character more. It may sound odd but my gut feeling is they originally intended for him to be Cole's son. It would explain why JD and him were friends since they grew up together and would give him a little more characterization. He also has a similar optimistic/naive attitude like Cole but is a little smarter. It feels like they decided last minute to cut that (because to be honest having all of the cast related to the old one is bad) so he's left with basically nothing.
I think they did that and then made Hana Cole who is a massive Mary Sue super-scientist with what was originally his story.
It could also explain why he's so much into tech stuff. Cole would be around Baird and he could pick it up while JD was more into the militaristic stuff.

Would've made the choice a lot more difficult since you would be forced to either keep the line of Marcus or Coletrain alive. Two characters that most people liked throughout the series. Having Del being a rando nobody really just stacks the cards against him since no one would give a shit about killing them off.
Gears sequel just fundemantlly does not work. Bringing back the Locus or that other shit faction that might as well just be the locus but worse looking doesn't work.
Making the new threat human would feel like a step down compared to the locus as well on the other hand.
Only future for the series would have been more prequels set in the time between gears 2 and 3 form a competely new perspective of characters.

The start of Gears 4 has you fighting against the CoG and they send robots after you. After that the Locust return as the Swarm and you fight them. It turns out they have the ability to infect the robots so you are fighting them both together.

It's...okay. The robots aren't bad and their voicelines can be funny. They also do a good job of being horrifying in parts of the game and DLC. It's just hard to justify the universe having ai and such. Even the books do a poor job of setting it up.

No. Seems like it's going to be Gears 1 with more improvements and details, which is a good thing. Gears really just needed some more animations and context things.

no. RTS games have a lot of vehicle units. you'd have to make up a tonne of new stuff for each faction that you probably wouldn't even recognise that the game is a gears game anymore. RTS worked well for halo because all their vehicles were iconic and covies had a bunch of interest and unique alien types who could all use guns. Gears doesn't really have that. they made the right decision making an xcom clone instead of an RTS though because of well the cover system works in that style of game.

i replayed the series when 5 came out. played 4 and 5 one after the other. 4 and 5 are the best in the series. 1 is a classic, 2 gets a bit boring and long winded, 3 felt like they were tired and copying a fast and the furious movie's pacing. it was a bit childish and silly. Judgement had a more consistent tone with 4 and 5.

The Mexican Market is one of the places the Xbox saw huge success one only needs to spend 5 mins in MCC matchmaking to find ElHaloFan1995 and see the truth of that.
