I have just as good a time with my arcade emulation as I would on an original cabinet.
It doesn't.
Because you've been brainwashed to think games don't matter unless you pay for them. I bet you even refuse to pirate just because you won't get achievements.
Don't worry, i also feel into the choke hold of the big companies into feeling like this despite my logic knowing it's moronic. But i broke free and happily pirate now and have a fun time without second thoughts, and so can you
Because of the simple fact that emulation is just that; emulation attempting to be the real thing without being that. Also, screen and resolutions that play a big part.
I dare to say, as someone who can't play on emulation anymore (unless complete poorgay), playing emulation through a console itself feels less off than emulation where it originated from. Similar case with manipulated re-released roms. Also this
It's like that sometimes too. You'll go to an arcade thinking it's original hardware, and it's just a MAMEbox in a cabinet. I remember that happening a lot when I was a teenager.
Yes you should switch to Snes9x. ZSnes is not a very accurate emulator. It worked fine if you just wanted to play something, but the sound is all fricked up and often the graphics are not displayed properly. It may have soul, but the program itself is painfully outdated.
Plug it in a CRT/tv and play it with a controller from a certain distance on a couch while keeping everything application closed, only the emulator opened.
It will be the same, if not better, experience.
You should use RetroArch, I don't like it, but the shaders are great.
Because you've been brainwashed to think games don't matter unless you pay for them. I bet you even refuse to pirate just because you won't get achievements.
Don't worry, i also feel into the choke hold of the big companies into feeling like this despite my logic knowing it's moronic. But i broke free and happily pirate now and have a fun time without second thoughts, and so can you
because you didn't beat the game. there's slight differences. it's like saying you won the olympics when you actually went to a slightly off imitation of the olympics
Emulation is more soulful than just hoarding old hardware and games. Any basic moron can go online and pay $1,000 for a console and a dozen games they'll never play. True connoisseurs explore the web, finding the best emulators for them, comparing different revisions of games, looking into hacks and patches, tweaking their settings to get them just right. They genuinely care, at least to some degree, about what they're doing.
>the original version has it
so, the original prototype cartridge/file hidden somewhere in the relevant game company? how do i acquire access to this so that i am not a soulless golem?
>this dude has to work after 2020, the utopia of free gibs
Brother if you didnt scam the system as hard as you could, you fricked UP. I'm still living off of a PPP loan for a business i pulled out of my ass that I never have to pay back
>3. You're on a computer my dude. Computers are for work.
True. Yet computers is also the place that gave birth to emulation and are the place where you should be emulating as intended, not somewhere else.
>You're on a computer my dude. Computers are for work.
moronic cucksole pleb
Cucksoles are for infants. Are you an infant?
Why do you care where you're playing your electronic toy's software? Don't be an insecure kid, pc vegan
Not playing it with CRT, looks like shit
Not playing it with shitty old controller, feels like shit
Playing it in a world of 3 million game, no appreciation for individual games
Life gets dumber as you get older friendo. Accept it now or break down when youre 30 and wonder where it all went wrong
>Accept it now or break down when youre 30 and wonder where it all went wrong
>mfw this is true >Turned 30 recently >Having midlife crisis so fricking bad I can't even get out of bed anymore for no reason >Vidya feels like a punishment now
guys I have these farts that feel like they're deep inside. They shake my insides. Deep Fart Thrombosis. They sound like Satan fighting a bear.
What the frick is going on
Whenever you pirate something, you violate that sacred bond between you and the dev. The dev didn’t “allow” you to play it that way - but you still insisted because you “deserved it”.
I imagine a rapist feels the same way when he rapes a woman. He is enjoying the physical act but it doesn’t feel authentic.
Nostalgia or nostalgia by proxy. You played it in your old living room, on the familiy TV, sitting on the couch with friends or familiy beside you. There are several factors to why you fondly remember a game and want to reply it, and it isn't always just the game itself you are missing. Create more of those moments, anon, reach out to someone.
i vastly prefer oroginal hardware but only reserve that for the games i really cherish. its more than just a game. it represents a part of my childhood and is a reflection of my tastes. i only own less than a dozen games now and for one system. im fine with that.
>it represents a part of my childhood and is a reflection of my tastes.
Imagine unironically saying this about a piece of media created by a billion dollar corporation
The glass screened flex is something to witness live. and it's fricking beatiful I don't get why they can't make new tvs with at least the glass screen, not crt which could be understandable but the glass screen is the game changer

Anonymous
Glass weighs too much and reflects too much light. Easier and cheaper to just ship with shiny plastic for glossy screens these days.

Anonymous
Never said it had to be a thick layer of glass. And lcds does reflect a lot as well for that matter

Anonymous
Any glass will be thicker than plastic. Also they engineer the plastic to diffract light so it doesn't glare (and gives better contrast).
It's sad that it ended up this way but it do be like that
You don't buy games to play them if you feel that way, you buy them to get the dopamine from the purchase.
I had no problem finishing hundreds of games on emulators in my teens.
get replica controllers or oem + an adapter. feels like the real thing. no shit playing snes games on an xbox controller or keyboard is going to feel weird. at most a new playstation controller works for older playstation games but even then it's not really the same but it's close enough.
Yeah, I think switch emulation is maybe the only instance where emulation is just objectively better than original hardware, maybe minus the portability but I guess you could play on a steam deck? idk
I think the main thing is that you're not playing at the same framerate you would on a 60Hz TV. Your brain reacts to that timing difference.
The audio is also different. People find it hard to believe that back in the day sound was so hard to compress it wasn't Instead composers would write music for the system to reproduce with virtual instruments. These arrangements were known as soundfonts, and no two brands used the same one. This makes it outrageously difficult to get the real experience from old PC games, but in the case of game consoles you just have to worry about the sound chip in the console.
Finally you're probably aren't playing it in a more relaxed setting. I played most of my videogames sitting in a couch on a large TV. Emulators are usually played at a computer inside a window (old games have really small native resolution).
retroarch solves this problem for me. with standalones i dont feel like ive "beaten" a game when i beat it for some reason. having my games organized into a sort of library like on retroarch makes it feel more "real", though i still dont consider myself as "owning" the game. i cant explain it, and im aware its extremely autistic. its why i wish RA would hurry up and get proper 6th gen support.
Becuase you are a consoomer, you find more joy in spending money than playing videogames, you are the type of person that is literally made for playing gacha
I've been an emugay all my life and will never hate on it, but recently I've decided to go for the best of both worlds and do the whole original hardware+everdrive/ode thing. Shit gets expensive though, but not nearly as expensive as it would be to actually get the original games obviously. Plus it's super convenient and you can play most romhacks and stuff on original hardware
Similar for me. I own a Wii and Dreamcast but they're both modded to play games from SD card / external hard drive. That also gives me the option to sync the saves to PC if I wish to play there instead
You're mentally ill
soulless insects
Good goy
This, the fricking hardware where you play it doesn't fricking matter you stupid nostalgia gays
The games literally behave differently on an emulator vs console
Because you're not an 8 years old anymore.
It doesn't?
I have just as good a time with my arcade emulation as I would on an original cabinet.
arcade is the only acceptable emulation because the real hardware is like $3000 per game
This is mostly true.
The board for CPS3 is really expensive.
Also this
Lol as apposed to paying 1000 per game for retro consoles?
Forgot to attach the picture
It doesn't.
I emulate on a CRT at 240p/480i.
I literally have a 4slot neogeo MVS cabinet collecting dust because Groovymame is just infinitely superior.
It's like that sometimes too. You'll go to an arcade thinking it's original hardware, and it's just a MAMEbox in a cabinet. I remember that happening a lot when I was a teenager.
Decksissies soulless as usual.
It doesn't.
I've still use ZSNES to this day, should I stick with it or switch over to Snes9x?
Yes you should switch to Snes9x. ZSnes is not a very accurate emulator. It worked fine if you just wanted to play something, but the sound is all fricked up and often the graphics are not displayed properly. It may have soul, but the program itself is painfully outdated.
>MUH ACCURACY
41% yourselves
this, gays say the want accuracy so much and then their lose their mind when game is running only at 240p as intended
you do not need more than 240p
ZSNES is painfully inaccurate, filled with slowdown issues and sound errors. It's also prone to random crashes due to it being buggy.
This video from 2013 should tell you everything you need to know
and zsnes itself hasn't been updated since 2007
it manages to frick up music even in SMW
It makes people seethe. Keep using it.
Plug it in a CRT/tv and play it with a controller from a certain distance on a couch while keeping everything application closed, only the emulator opened.
It will be the same, if not better, experience.

awfully long post when you could have just outright said "i'm a Black person"
because you didn't beat the game. there's slight differences. it's like saying you won the olympics when you actually went to a slightly off imitation of the olympics
Because it's not and I'm not a consumerist homosexual that hordes decaying plastic.
Back to >>>/vr/ with your schizophrenia

There's this thing in art called "aura" where the original version has it, but reproductions lack it.

bladee has aura
>israelite uses Marxism to argue that only rich people can/should experience art
Thanks for this very high quality post

What a pretentious concept
anyone who can't understand this is just a soulless golem
just set your room correctly.
>the original version has it
so, the original prototype cartridge/file hidden somewhere in the relevant game company? how do i acquire access to this so that i am not a soulless golem?
I can't believe these discs have real art on them either.
They look so wholesome.
1.youre not using proper shaders and filters
2. You're not playing on a retro like handheld
3. You're on a computer my dude. Computers are for work.
>this dude has to work after 2020, the utopia of free gibs

here moron moron moron *jingle jingle jingle*
LOL
the absolute irony
because you bought some shit old console and now you're trying to justify your shit purchase to yourself
>Why does it feel less real (and less important) when you play a game on emulator?
That's the neat part, it doesn't. You are just a liar.
Because you're a israelite trying to sell overpriced garbage.
I can't wait for the retromeme bubble to pop.
your womanly attachment to a brand that makes you feel good
It doesn't?
emulating is more comfy imo, I love being able to launch all of my favorite console games from a single launcher
Because you have crippling autism
Not playing it with CRT, looks like shit
Not playing it with shitty old controller, feels like shit
Playing it in a world of 3 million game, no appreciation for individual games

Hardware gays lmao
nah i dont feel like getting israeliteed out of 60 dollars cuz nintendo put out a shitty piece of plastic with two buttons
>Playing it in a world of 3 million game, no appreciation for individual games
not everyone buys their kid a car on their 16th birthday, you'll grow up one day kiddo
>break down when youre 30
u mean 40 right? 30 seems young to me now
mental illness. Sorry. Nice Burger King crown, though.

so far I think you're the winner
it feels equally as real and is a much better experience because you can fast forward cutscenes and loading
I don't have autism so it's no different.
Because you're a homosexual
I kinda felt the same way but I just keep making myself play games on an emulator till I got over it. it doesn't really bother me anymore
You will never be a woman
Who the frick loads up an old game and thinks "Man. This would be much more enjoyable on ancient hardware with blurry visuals."
me
>blurry
240p is sharp though
Post a 3D game.
Hard to capture because of interlacing.
This is a bit better, but there is too much morie interference.
Because you don't finish it
i vastly prefer oroginal hardware but only reserve that for the games i really cherish. its more than just a game. it represents a part of my childhood and is a reflection of my tastes. i only own less than a dozen games now and for one system. im fine with that.

This. But most haven't seen the glory of a glass screen
It doesn't you're just anal.
>uses an arcade screen filter for a console game
I know filtertards are mocked here but c'mon...
So what? I just tweaked things to a way I prefer it.
You made it worse, anon
The worst thing is this isn't remotely close to how it really looks
Such is the nature of 480i. 240p can be captured very well, but even the best 240p photos don't really give you the same sharpness as real life.
The glass screened flex is something to witness live. and it's fricking beatiful I don't get why they can't make new tvs with at least the glass screen, not crt which could be understandable but the glass screen is the game changer

It's sad that it ended up this way but it do be like that
If you halve or double the shutter speed you can capture interlaced images I'm pretty sure
Most 3D retro vidya look better on CRT
Because with zero sunk cost, you are fully aware if you actually like the game or not.
I have the same thing with pokemon games and handhelds. Doesn't feel the same if you are sitting on a pc playing an emulator
You don't buy games to play them if you feel that way, you buy them to get the dopamine from the purchase.
I had no problem finishing hundreds of games on emulators in my teens.

Emulating switch is an objectively superior experience in every measurable way.
The switch is the most soulless gaming handheld ever created
>what is virtual boy?
>what is psvita?
>what is stadia?
>you now remember stadia
>what is Ouya?
>you no remember Ouya
>what is Xbox One?

Yeah, I think switch emulation is maybe the only instance where emulation is just objectively better than original hardware, maybe minus the portability but I guess you could play on a steam deck? idk

retroarch solves this problem for me. with standalones i dont feel like ive "beaten" a game when i beat it for some reason. having my games organized into a sort of library like on retroarch makes it feel more "real", though i still dont consider myself as "owning" the game. i cant explain it, and im aware its extremely autistic. its why i wish RA would hurry up and get proper 6th gen support.
you are mentally moronic
Just finished playing Unicorn Overlord on emulator the other day. Felt just as important as playing any other game.
play the native pc ports then?
Not a problem when it looks better.
Becuase you are a consoomer, you find more joy in spending money than playing videogames, you are the type of person that is literally made for playing gacha
Only had this problem when I was first starting out emulating handheld games on my pc. Now it's back to comfygaming in bed just like the old days.
The experience is as much about the hardware as it is the game itself, you're only getting half of it with an emulator.
I don't have this problem. Hardware is a vessel, software is the soul.
Because you don't have to self-rationalize purchasing a hunk of obsolete plastic to play the game.
You reminded me there are people who bought raspberry pis clad in authentic plastic.
You got the game for free so you don't force yourself to play it to justify the purchase
You're not supposed to be playing them in a tiny window while shit posting on some board in the background
I've been an emugay all my life and will never hate on it, but recently I've decided to go for the best of both worlds and do the whole original hardware+everdrive/ode thing. Shit gets expensive though, but not nearly as expensive as it would be to actually get the original games obviously. I've decided to output my PC to a CRT TV instead. It's nice.
it doesn't
DS emulation = tablet (looks weird on PC and you can use touchpad)
PS2/PS2 emulation = PC
is this correct?
Humans are naturally good, and even if you try to suppress it deep down you know you've done something wrong.
Any guilt felt from emulation has been overshadowed by the hatred felt for what these companies have become.
Nintendo can go frick themselves forever.
It feels better to play it on the real deal, but it looks like dogshit
On the contrary, it looks way better playing on the real deal and on a CRT
This image will always bother me. Why the frick do they have three browsers open?
I'd rather emulate the original than play some hackneyed official port that fricks up the visuals.
For me? It's FFX
You know one day emulation will literally be the only possible option for anyone, right
Well that’s just false unless you include FPGA as emulation
