2 reasons. The first is that it's successful and the success has turned some of the fans into annoying c**ts that get way too defensive about it. The second is that the hardware is kinda shit thanks to mobile technology improving at rates that are frankly absurd.
The release timing of it is a bit unfortunate as well. Nintendo was forced to play catch up after what happened with the WiiU so it gets directly compared to the next gen consoles instead of the last gen ones and of course it's not going to compete with those.

It's the only way to play MH Rise. The only reason I own a N3DS, Wii, WiiU, and Switch is to play Monster Hunter, I will follow the series wherever it goes. This is why World was so successful, it simply moved away from those platforms.
It's about how the performance of the console is compared to others, which is typically why you see people shit talking the system. I'm not going to mince words either, it's a valid complaint when ever game performs worse on the Switch because they have to make sure it works on the Lite.
I hate that they merged their handhelds and consoles. Their games never dropping in price is much more tolerable when games are $40 instead of $60 and it also feels like we're getting less new games from Nintendo now that they don't have to make handheld games on top of console games. It's getting some decent third party support but the ports of games that I have already played elsewhere are not exciting to me and more often than not I don't want to buy a multiplat on the system that runs it the worst. It's cool that others are getting to experience them but I hope that you can understand why others might not feel the same way about them and only care for Nintendo's new first party titles or timed exclusives like Rise.
